  1. Just want to give a recruiting shoutout to Adam Howard. The dude kills it for these kids from a social media perspective. Don’t know what does behind the scenes, but he seems connected to this generation of basketball recruits.

Portal related so I'll throw it in here. I never want to be a program that has to hit the portal like we will this year. Let me ask this question though. Unless it's a top tier recruit i.e. JHS type are we wanting a program where we still recruit well and pepper in the portal where it fits? Or will we just succumb to the pressures of needing to hit portal every Spring because either players leave for NBA (good thing) or players leave because of underperformance (JG/TB)?

Reason I ask is the body and mind development between age 18 and say 21 is light years. Would you rather have a top 100 recruit as a freshman? Or a semi proven commodity from smaller school in his Junior year?

I've always been program development guy. Recruit elite guys when you can, have 3-4 Trey or Race or Christian Watford or Hulls types (not position just great program guys) and pop a portal when you can.

Just curious what most think. Something of a message board conversation while we wait for nobody to commit until next week.

Had this conversation quite a bit this winter and spring. Me? I’d take a 20 year old from the portal before a fringe top 150 hs recruit. Experience matters at this level, and unless it’s a JHS type, you always have to attempt to upgrade

....just thinking out loud here. Could we possibly have our pick of top players linked to IU in the portal? IU has been trending up over the past two years. I just get that vibe, totally my opinion.

We definitely have the most playing time to offer. 4 starters leaving, I agree with your opinion. While we may not have our pick, we're more attractive to more players potentially, no doubt

It think he’s likely looking to move closer to home. Other factors could be a different style of play or a bigger role. He also just hasn’t really worked out and there’s a chance he could get passed up depending on how things shake out.

Gonna piggy back off this…he has a child. (I know everyone knows this already) Far away. Transfer closer to home night ease his mind a ton. I just hope he makes the best decision for himself and his family.

Peyton Sparks is a name to track going forward. I originally didn’t expect IU to pursue him but that seems to have changed.

I have mixed feelings on this one. He majorly changed his body at Ball State. Maybe clif can make him look like Bobby Lashley.

might be suitable as a big 10 big…a banger and rebounder

might see 8 mins a game?
