So we still have options for that final spot.

    1. Antonio Reeves-shooter, scorer, not much of a defender.

    2. Simeon Wilcher-combo guard who wants to play point and probably expects starter minutes.

    3. Paul Mulcahey-pass first point, not much of a scorer but an intense competitor. also good size at 6'7"

Do we take any of these three?

Reeves in a heart beat. That would alleviate the pressure to be a reliable and consistent volume scorer from Galloway/Gunn and wouldn’t take up a scholarship.

Wilcher is definitely intriguing but I would probably prefer taking our chances at landing one of Fland/Harper/transfer portal stud to run the offense next year.

That said, with the immediate transfer rule, I’d be happy to add any of them since it’s really hard to gauge next years roster.

  2. Saw on BTB someone suggested an IU rivals writer is hearing its down to us and Duke. I don’t believe it but would be sweet (I personally think it’s Rutgers, Duke, and IU in that order).

Really have to wonder how this recruitment would have gone had his older brother not gone to Rutgers/he not be from New Jersey. No chance he would have even considered Rutgers lol.

FWIW, I occasionally see Ron Sr.’s tweets since he’s pretty active and he told one fan, “Woody is my guy but it’s Dylan’s decision”.

I think if Woody and Ya can sell Dylan on writing his own story/creating his own legacy, we can pull this off.

Getting him in campus or a commitment?

The staff is pushing for him to return for another official visit according to the article. I think it’s a strong possibility as he mentioned he doesn’t have anything scheduled yet.

Dont want to jump to conclusions but IU being the only school he’s looking to visit a second time means he may want to return just to make sure he’s comfortable and ready to commit.

So you think all three play the same spot. From my understanding asa and Liam are 3-4 types.  Reneau is a 4-5. I’m not worried at all about Malik. If anything I’d assume we don’t get Asa and Liam. One or the other is my guess.

Sorry, to clarify, I think they all play different roles in my opinon:

    Reneau: 5/4 (mostly a 4)

    Asa: 4/3 (mostly a 4)

    Liam: 3

My concern is those 3 are talented enough to start, but I just don’t think after playing this season at the 4 that they would move Reneau to the 5. He’s not trying to be an NBA center. So then becomes the question off is it a good look to have any of these guys come off the bench when we’re trying to get them to the league and recruit future Montverde stars.

  5. My biggest concern with this recruitment is Reneau. He’s not projected to be a first round/early second round pick for next year so I would assume he would stay for his Junior season.

It’s clear the staff would love to have both Asa and Liam but I struggle with figuring out how they utilize Reneau in this picture. He’s too good to not have major minutes, and I don’t see the staff pushing him to play the 5 when we’re looking at guys like Flory and trying to get Reneau to the league.

Missing out on one of them obviously makes this a non issue. A good problem to have nonetheless haha.

Unlike most of the rest of this board, I am lukewarm at best in considering this guy, or thinking he will strongly consider IU. I cannot get past the antics his brother displayed when beating us at SSAH, and can't help but believe that Ron Jr. will be in his brother's ear.

Sure I am probably wrong on this, but there are a lot of great options in this recruiting class, and don't want to bring in any negative vibes at all.

As I mentioned earlier, I can say reading his social media responses that his older brother is actively recruiting against us (he seemed supportive of Duke but legit commented on his IU Insta post something like, “trash jersey”).

That said, I checked the dads Twitter page since he responds to fans and I guess he suggested that he stopped asking Dylan about the recruiting process a while back. Also he responded to multiple fan bases saying “his decision” so I think his parents are more understanding.

Rutgers sounds like the team to beat IMO but a final 5 of just one NJ/East coast school leads me to believe he may prefer writing his own story instead of being known as Ron Harper Jr.‘s brother.

  7. I think the perceived favorites were Rutgers and Duke by a significant margin but MM commitment might have bridged that gap. He obviously took notice and his belief in Coach Woodson leads me to think we’re in a better spot than most assumed.

If Rutgers didn’t have a solid 2024 class already and Duke wasn’t Duke, I’d say we have a really good shot at winning this one. Duke and Rutgers have been on him a longer time, and I fear his older brother is going to be actively recruiting against us with all his power.

Wonder if Woodson would push for a reclass given we could use a dynamic scoring guard like him for next season.
