Also, the only way we take the step as a collective is if the second and third tier player develop, which they have not.
Agree about the bench needing to improve but is this on the staff or the players? I mean highly touted Tamar hasn’t exactly blown up since he left! Or any of the other players that saw greener grass.

I don't think this kid starts, but certainly seems like someone we can offense through when we sub, compared to... gulp CJ Gunn.
Who do you have starting in front of him? Or do you know something about another player better yet to be named?

Maybe thanks to a big bag of money? Does anyone else think we are mainly only getting talent now because we're offering to pay them the most? I realize immediate playing time is a bonus but $$ talks, right?
So so so many discounting the value of JHS, TJD, Malik, MM, Ware improving their game? SMH

I think, which doesn’t amount to a hill of beans IU needs shooters no doubt. However I think every bit as important IU needs players that can get their own when needed! Someone who you put the ball in their hands with 5 seconds left down 1. Mr Tucker might be part of fulfilling that need! Go IU!

Definitely in the process right now of doing that! I keep tabs on the area and yikes! (Some great restaurants there now; I'll look for the Foodie thread haha)
I think I’ll go over and rename the best of thread ‘the foodie thread’

Here's how the field looks going into the Sweet 16. Sector 1 has 31.25% of the remaining field (historically makes up 24.6% of the S16), 31.25% also for Sector 2 (historically contains 42.9% of S16 teams), only 12.5% are from Sector 3 (historically 20.8%), and a robust 25% from Sector 4 (historically only contains 10% of S16 teams). All the remaining Sector 4 teams have "championship-level" offenses (all better than 3 champions since '08) but have suboptimal defenses. In fact, all the remaining teams except for San Diego State could be considered "championship-level" offenses. Defensively though, there is clearly a divide. In general, it's safe to say that "championship-level" defense could be defined as an aDE of 94 or less (that would leave only 1 outlier champion - the 2018 Villanova team that had the best offense of any tourney team since '08). Using that definition, the remaining team with "championship-level" defense would include UConn, Arizona, Houston, UNC, Tennessee, Iowa State, and San Diego State (listed in order of best to worst offense). Purdue's offense is amongst the all-time elite (5th best amongst tourney teams since '08) and their defense falls just between "championship-level" and 2018's Villanova's team, so it would be unreasonable to discount them as well. I would suspect that given the quality of offenses left in the field, the defensive liabilities of the non-"championship-level" defenses will be exposed and lead to their elimination.
As always @fasbjd thanks for the input! But out of curiosity, where does IU fall in this?

I don't think it's an unreasonable ask of fans to learn (how to spell) our player's names. Initials can work for brevity, but unless the nickname is what the player goes by (Yogi) or has leaned into on their own accord, just give the respect to the name they have and spell it out.
I have to unzip my lips on this, having lived my whole life with a name widely regarded as a woman’s name (it’s a Scandinavian men’s name) this is just another case of ignorance being justified by relying on our own culture. Maybe I should have taken a clue from Johnny Cash?

No reason to keep it quiet. It's a good development selling point.

One can only imagine what Coach Calbert could do with this raw talent.

Did I just read that box score right? TJD took a 3pt shot?

I was watching some film of him on YouTube and he does have a very good mid range game. The person doing this file said his pro comparison of Tucker is Damar Derozen.
Mid range JHS killed Purdue.

I might have to stop ignoring several posters! Could be interesting how the narrative twists if this news is true.

It's ok to give some credit yes, but I really believe playing in this league the past year helped him tremendously .
Didn’t the PAC12 do better in the tournament this year than the BIG did?🤷♂️

I get it. But it comes off as disrespectful. We don't know exactly what happened. But what has come out shows Mac may have been as much as a victim as anyrhing, and then handled it poorly.
But he was 18, just moved away from home and had what appears to be a pretty truanatic experience occur. For adults to refer to him by a nickname referencing that episode just makes me a little uneasy.
It's not endearing, it's a cheap jab at a kid many many months after the fact. Just my opinion.
People tend to look at things through their own lens while ignoring others. They should give pause when just this week Utah’s women’s team experienced what they did in Idaho! Just my opinion.

Just checked and what a lousy time for the IU/SC game 5 pm on Friday. Guess they don't want to interfere with the Men's games, but geeze.....
Wonder what the viewership will be for the Women’s NC State game at 7:30 vs the Men’s NC State game at 7:00?🤷♂️

The relevance is this guys highlight tapes are all of him just being a freakish athlete. It’s hard to get my hopes up for a guy like this when I think about JG
There’s a big difference between elite athleticism and elite instinctive athleticism. JG is still looking for the light switch, this kids blocks give the impression of instinctive athleticism. The timing of the jumps was pretty impressive.
