This makes no sense. Literally could have made this hire the day we fired Miller. Why the hell did they wait this long? We could have already been recruiting our own players to stay and also hitting the transfer portal. This is just a meh hire to me. Dolson gets a D+ from me on the hire. Hopefully it turns out but my word this was about as underwhelming as it gets.

Yeah, if we can get a core of guys to stick around, this doesn't have to be a total rebuild. I think a good system and a good coach could do well with TJD, Franklin, Race, Lander, Phinisee, Galloway, Leal, Geronimo, Duncomb, Brunk? and then a couple of transfers. Do we compete for titles? Probably not. But with the right growth over the summer, the right system, and the right buy in, that could be a tournament team next year. I want the whole team to stick around if we can. I want these guys to get a chance to play in a system and for a coach where they can actually enjoy being here. I think that is completely possible IF we keep the core pieces here and bring in the right guy to run the show.

And really TJD is somewhat in a transfer portal if we are being honest as well, he will be weighing going pro...he could come back, but it is a similar situation to these other guys. So we have 80% of our starting line up thinking of being somewhere else next year. Man, just speaking for myself, I can't do the start of the Crean era again. Dolson better know what he is doing.

Tom Allen has won me over so far because he is winning. Bill Lynch was a nice guy but he wasn't winning. All the LEO and enthusiasm is great, but to me that is secondary to winning. There are different personalities that can win, I am with Badgervol on all of that extraneous stuff anymore. I don't care who we bring in anymore as long as they end up being a winner.

Stevens would come in and have instant gravitas with the fanbase...none of the other guys on our list are going to get that leeway. That's reality. They will get a couple years and if they are not performing they are going to have people fall out quick. I will be honest, all the names we are talking about appear to be upgrades over Miller, but none of them are exciting IMO. It just feels like we are snakebit and it is going to be a challenge to get things going around here again. Today just murdered any optimism I had left. Anybody they bring in now is probably going to be meh for me. Hopefully he works out whomever he is but the names being bantered about just don't instill a bunch of confidence in me. We aren't what we think we are and we are nowhere near where we would like to be. I don't think that is changing anytime soon. Might as well hire a Fife at this point because I am at the point where I don't think it matters. It is a crap shoot, might as well have a low buy in.... I think we died 20 years ago and we are just now finding that out.

Cheaney is my all time favorite Hoosier, so if Stevens wanted to bring him on board and thought he could help, I would be completely on board with that.

Lewis coached with him at Butler. He seems the most likely if he puts an IU guy on bench with him.

Again, I go back to who finds out you are looking first, the people trying to hire you, or the people connected with your current employer? The Boston people are just catching up to the chatter we have had increasing all week.

His wife is his agent right? I think the agents are usually the ones that leak. On the Boston side there may be only a handful of people dealing with it. Ainge and the owner. The IU side is leaking like a sieve right now. Then on Stevens side it is just he and Tracy. The IU circle appears to have the most people involved to leak and they are leaking like crazy. But the people pushing it are on boards like ours and journalists are not going out on a limb based on that. That's my read of the situation.

Not feeling the argue vibes at the moment. I will still support him if he is picked. We just disagree on him being the optimal pick. Hopefully, it doesn't matter.
