  1. My thought was the tax bill. Like, if you win a car on the Price is Right, most people have trouble actually taking possession of the car because you have to pay taxes on the vehicle. It ends up costing them money. So to me, keep your Porsche and give me cash.
  2. No sour grapes in there from him at all. Wish the guy the best, for whatever reason, Indiana and Miller were just not a good fit for each other.
  3. Did they give him a car? (Too lazy to look up). If so, I would rather have cash.
  4. Football is a little more high impact than basketball though...particularly at the NFL level.
  5. In light of the Cincinnati practice news, stay healthy would have to be up there.
  6. Why are you bringing up 25+ year injuries? I am aware that injuries happen everywhere, the question is whether or not they happen here more. And it may not all be Marshall, we had a rash of concussions during the Miller era as well. And maybe it is just the hyper focus on our own team, but I cannot think of another time I heard a program cancelling one of these deals to "get healthy" a month before the season starts.
  7. So Indiana has just been unlucky? I mean other schools have weight training and conditioning programs as well, but don't appear to be as snakebit by injuries as we have been over the past decade. I think there is a place for the training, it happens in every program...but the injury bug to key pieces is just a constant with this program.
  8. Saw that we had to cancel one of those secret practices with Cincinnati because we had too many players that are banged up. Why do we seem to have so many injuries every year? I see a bunch of people pointing the finger at Marshall. All that strength and conditioning is useless if the guys miss a bunch of court time.
  9. And we have the pieces where we should be able to beat them.
  10. Why, why, why do our QB's not get set to throw the dang ball? Looked like that was off the back leg too. Just terrible mechanics...
  11. Same reason you go for it down 7 in the first?
  12. Did you see his feet on that pass? He is not set, just flinging the ball up there. That was awful.
  13. 1st and 10...run up the middle. They ought to try a play action on that sometime. Should work since we do that all. the. time.
  14. Yeah, very doubtful. Unless things change quick, we are going to struggle to get 6 wins. I looked earlier today and our remaining schedule is the third toughest in the country.
  15. Man...this year is shaping up to be a major disappointment.
  16. When was the last time we converted in that situation?
  17. Tom Allen ever going to learn on those calls? Kick the darn FG.
  18. He only needed 3 yards if he breaks toward the sideline he should have been able to pick it up. He doesn't have to run right at the LB.
  19. Penix not running with the ball really makes it easy for teams to tee off on him. If he would have used his legs on that last down we would probably still be on the field.
  20. It is just going to blow up college athletics. I think at a certain point you will have many, many schools says screw this and just bow out. They talk about all the money these programs make but the majority of them don't make profit. You still going to charge students an athletic fee to pay employees? Employees who get free classes, free food, free housing, access to free tutors, access to strength and conditioning coaches, who demand constant facility upgrades... Yeah, the athletics used to help advertise the schools but in an environment where kids are walking away with mortgage sized debt, at a certain point the schools are really going to have to explain to the peons who can't throw a ball why they are subsidizing a semi-pro professional team on every campus. The Pacers and Colts are just down the road from IU and Purdue.....
  21. https://www.insidethehall.com/2021/09/30/is-somebody-going-to-guard-me-in-his-own-unique-way-miller-kopp-is-bringing-a-swagger-to-indiana/?fbclid=IwAR0bpkydh73ML7dqPoizpzYpO4PgqBHUJGg7tE4MfOUMyWqWBnuZIvvQo20 I know I have seen this somewhere in the past but IIRC, some people were wishing we had a Will Sheehey type of personality on the team. Thinking Kopp is going to fill that type of role this year.
  22. 3 of our first 5 games will have been against 3 current Top 10 teams. WKU was also an away game against one of the better FBS type of teams. I doubt anyone else has played as tough a schedule as Indiana has up to this point.
  23. And that really is the long and short of it. Within our own conference I believe we are still Indiana and BT officials, no matter if we are playing an in conference game or not, tend to dick us over because we are supposed to be bad. Last year was the first time where I felt we got a fairer share of the close calls and look what we were able to do. That being said, if the roles of IU and Ohio State were reversed last year but we had not played enough games because of COVID, do you think there is any way we play in the Big Ten Championship game ahead of Ohio State? I don't. And frankly, I was happy to see Ohio State get beat early this year, I am looking to see them get knocked down a few pegs now that other schools in this conference are going to be able to throw money at players. As we saw against Cincinnati, a crucial call in a crucial point of the game can mean the difference between a win and a loss. We are a program that rarely gets them and a team like Ohio State is one that rarely doesn't.
