  1. Tell me it has been a rough bunch of years without telling me it has been a rough bunch of years. We're up 17 against a ranked conference opponent on the road and we are all waiting for the shoe to drop.
  2. Did not like how the half ended.....but that is probably the best half of basketball we have played in a loooooong time.
  3. Who would you bring in for him? Rob? Maybe Leal? Parker has 2 fouls so he isn't coming back in up 16.
  4. Looked like he got his legs taken out a bit. Hard to keep control when that happens.
  5. Quite a bit of the crowd missing tonight.
  6. Sorry, not sure if my question about Lander derailed this or not. Couple of positives from the game: 1. Free throws. We were shooting 100% deep into the game and I think we finished above 80%. Will take that any game. 2. It took a half, but we finally got around to taking better care of the ball. I can live with 14 turnovers. 3. Even though we got off to slow start, it was nice to see our bench providing a spark. Durr had a nice hook shot for a bucket. Leal had 2 nice passes (1 that Bates fumbled) and hit a 3. Bates had some good minutes. If it was multiple OT's earlier in the week that were causing issues for both teams early on, our bench showing up was the difference in the game.
  7. Can be. Geronimo has seen a reduction in minutes. I did not get to watch the Syracuse game, was he egregiously bad in that game? Felt like he had some ok minutes the few games before that.
  8. Did we get any word on Lander? Kind of unusual that he got zero minutes. Think he was the only guy on the team who was not injured or suspended who did not see any time. Was wondering if he is banged up or under the weather.
  9. Schedule is not going to really ease up from here on out. Team needs to start learning some of the lessons from prior games. 6 turnovers in less than 9 minutes is not going to cut it against anyone.
  10. I base it on last night too. Just moderately taking care of the ball and we are a double digit winner on their floor. If I felt it was them causing the turnovers, that would be one thing. On too many occasions it was not though. It was just stupid play on our part. I guess we will see as the year goes on, but they struck me as an 8 or 9th place finisher in the BIG type of team.
  11. I am not saying to not he optimistic. We have good players on this team. We have the potential to be a good team. This is not a championship team but we can be pretty good. I am still optimistic. I just think last night was a bad loss...and I think that because of everything else I stated. The sky is not falling. We got the message at the half and did better from there. We just need these guys to realize that, while good, they are not good enough to overcome the unforced mistakes. There are not many teams in the country that can overcome 26 turnovers if they are playing a team with a pulse. Syracuse has a pulse, so our better (IMO) team lost because of the thing that Woody and the staff have been harping about over the preceding 6 games. You guys have a chance to do something (get to the tournament, win a game or 2), don't squander that chance with unforced, boneheaded play.
  12. Not really. They took advantage of our turnovers I guess but so many of them were unforced errors. It wasn't like Syracuse was just befuddling us, we just flat threw the ball away. Look, there is still stuff to work with within this game. We statistically beat them in every category but one...and I don't give them credit for at least half of our mistakes in that one category. Like I said above, cut those turnovers to 15 and we win by double digits. I can get into "moral" victories in some cases but this was not it. We have good players. We are a better team than Syracuse. We should have won that game...but we lost it because we had 26 trips where we did not get a shot up and in the flow of the game, I think that at least half of those was more because of what we did not do as opposed to what they did. I think it is a good thing to view a loss like this as a disappointment. Last year it would not have been. This year it is because we are better. We should expect more.
  13. Yeah and I am not feeling as rosey about this because of that. We should have won this game...by double digits. That is not a good Syracuse team. They got rolled on their own court by Colgate. We have a good enough group of players this year that I just cannot label this any type of moral victory. We shot over 50%. I believe coach wants less than 15 turnovers. We do that and we have 11 more possessions where we get off a shot. That should have meant an extra 10 to 15 points the way we were shooting. This was a moral loss IMO because we beat ourselves. We outplayed them in every statistical category but we had 26 empty trips and most of those were just carelessness. Yeah we played hard and everything and shooting was good. When you shoot and rebound like that you have got to win.
  14. Run until someone pukes...then run some more.
  15. We shot 56% for the game. Just lower to 20 turnovers instead of 25 and we likely win the game.
  16. Bad loss, we should have won this.
  17. Team is going to have to learn that games are 40 minutes long and you have to show up for the entire 40. Also, turnovers are record killers. You don't take care of the ball against "real" teams, you will end up on the wrong side of the win column quite often.
  18. No, I am saying the butt chewing worked because he has their respect. I think there are instances the past few years with different staffs where the butt chewing would have fallen on deaf ears.
  19. That works as long as you respect the dude doing it.
  20. The game is on one of the ACC networks....
  21. I don't think you would see that because of the Crossroads. We are going to get a Big East team most years, we will have an ACC team and I think if we start winning we will be seeing more Duke and UNC than Florida State and Syracuse in the future. Get out of the Crossroads and get another P6 team there and you are on the way to a pretty good schedule.
  22. Agree, but I can understand the thought process of getting some easy ones in here to work out the kinks for a new staff and a bunch of new faces on the court.
  23. They are 0-4. I don't think they are going to be good.... That was kind of an ugly half but this is just one of those blah types of games you see at this time of year. You are supposed to win, the students are out so not the same energy, and it is right before a break. We basically slept walked to an almost 20 point lead at the half.
  24. I have been wondering about that too. Kind of, show me what you can do within the flow of the offense against teams we should beat prettily handily...then maybe tighten the reins a bit if they have shown they cannot hit them as we get later in the season.
