  1. Yep. If they rolled in late from curfew, drunk as a skunk, the day before a game, they would have gotten the same punishment. The punishment is more about the lack of concern for the team then it is the substance. Their team was in the middle of the Big Ten battle, upper half of the league, battling for a place in the tournament and seeding and getting high the night before a game took precedence over all the hard work that the TEAM had done to get them in that position. Not only that, of the guys suspended, there are a few where this was at least the second time where they have let partying interfere with the team's goals. I was there when Knight was. There were guys who partied. I specifically handed a bottle of vodka and watched a player do shots out of it after a big win. AFTER a big win...with no games for a few more days. I cut some slack to the guys because they are young adults experiencing the same things on campus as other students. However, they have to realize that they have some responsibilities that are different from other students as well. Time and place. Learn it. If you can't, then big time athletic programs are not for you.
  2. Some of these guys have been suspended more than once for "breaking the team rules" now. If you are going to allow the rules to be broken with impunity, why have them? These guys are adults and we don't know where the team was staying, but to get weed in a city like Chicago that I believe none of them are from, could lead you into some trouble that doesn't just involve sneaking out and smoking weed. If they want to party and have a good time, whatever. Doing it the night before a game is stupid.
  3. For what it is worth, I think he will be available to play in the next game. Take that as you will based on other posts. And this is all hearsay, grain of salt stuff.
  4. If they test and it is second fail, they are automatic 3 game. If it is first fail it is coach's decision I believe.
  5. That somewhat meshes with what I heard but 2 of the guys were less egregious than the other 3. Like 2 violated curfew and 3 violated curfew and smelled like Snoop Dogg's dressing room.
  6. Don't be surprised if 2 younger guys are available in the next game while 3 older guys are not based on some stuff I am hearing.
  7. I got no problem with what he did. I have a big problem with the idea he had to do it at this time of the year. This loss is not on the staff and I am giving the guys who played tonight a pass too, this game is on 5 guys who need to figure out what they want out of their time here.
  8. The players are lucky he doesn't have a little more of Coach Knight in him. I think Knight would have kicked a few of these guys off the team after tonight. They would be gone, gone or they would be back begging for a spot on the team.
  9. I'm pissed and I may cool off by tomorrow, but there are 2 and maybe 3 guys who I would ask to leave the program if this game ends up costing us a tournament appearance. I would be so mad at those 5 guys if I was on the team, particularly if I was one of the guys who has been around here for the past few years and suffered through some really poor seasons.
  10. I am frankly done with a couple of the 5 who basically put us on the bubble tonight. Like don't let the door hit you on the @$$ done.
  11. Nope. Stewart. Kopp may not be hitting his shots but he was not part of the 5 sitting on the pine tonight. No way in heck I am sitting Kopp instead of Stewart.
  12. Or the Fact that the 5 players out is ALL THEIR FAULT. It isn't like they are sick or injured.
  13. I think we would have drilled NW with our full roster the way they have played tonight. If we lose this game the 5 that got suspended just really hurt the team. We have a tough schedule coming up, this is a game we need. Stewart should be done starting as well. Galloway should get his start. And if Rob was not hurt I would have Johnson coming off the bench after tonight too.
  14. Exactly, I don't care how "tough" Northwestern plays people. Their record says they are a bottom feeder. This absolutely must be a win.
  15. If the money they were rumored to be offering him were true, I would take whatever criticism y'all wanted to throw my way. Benjamin Franklin could wipe away my tears.
  16. Yeah...and the Pacers stink... TJD has to develop a shot for any kind of prolonged NBA career. He would need to be a 4.
  17. Archie is the gift that has kept on giving.
  18. It is still THE thing that separates us from being a middling good team from a true conference contender. There is not one guy on this team who you can count on to regularly get you that shot. Stewart has a nice percentage but he is low volume and doesn't seem to hit them when needed. We are up 4 and give up 2 3 pointers about a quarter of the way through the second half and we never recovered. The college game is all about the 3 ball and we have not done that well for several years, which is why we have the tournament drought. Freaking Indiana and we can't find shooters.
  19. One thing I will say about Cockburn, he is almost impossible to defend when he can lower that shoulder and Shaq bulldoze his way to the rim. That is a foul. Has always been a foul. I don't know why they allow it.
  20. Our inability to consistently hit 3's is the difference between this team being good and great. Our shooters still cannot spread the floor.
