Listening to the broadcast was rough.  Feels like they barely gave the Pacers any credit. They were lucky to be in this round tbh. If Embiid was healthy they probably lose to the Sixers.

We got Bucks without Giannis and NY without…well 90% of their starting lineup. I won’t complain but gotta admit we’ve been the benefit of some beat up teams and we were lucky to get by the two we did.

Nuggets were up 58-38 when I turned the game on. T-Pups went crazy after that, unreal. Minnesota vs Indiana NBA Finals, a guy can dream a little, right? 😎

Afraid Boston will make easy work of the Pacers…probably of the West champ too. I thought Denver was the team that could take them but Minnesota was always going to be a tough matchup for the Nuggets.

That could work until the boo-birds come out when we only beat a team by 6 that the crowd thinks we should be by 30.

Well if I’m an AD and my coach is struggling like that…then I definitely don’t want to play UConn or Kansas etc…we will get exposed and I’ll probably be out of a job. Fact that stuff happens is not because of one particular game…its because the fans see a history and a team trending in the wrong direction and a coach that hasn’t put a good product on the floor…whether recruiting or from his job in practicing. If I’m worried about boo birds then I probably have the wrong coach and/or a poor team…but what is the alternative…play good teams and get blown out?? I like playing solid or well coached mid major teams…no I don’t want to get beat but I like to test my teams and then see my teams talent pull away in the second half. I’d rather not schedule all 300 level teams that don’t help your team…and I don’t think Eastern Illinois is a strong team but probably a middling team in their conference. Can’t schedule all big dogs.

    boring

I think we have plenty of strong out of conference games typically. We will be in the invitational tournament, we will be scheduling UK following year and we’ve had the Auburn/Kansas teams and I’m sure we will line up a couple this year as well.
it’s about building your team up to be ready for conference and tournament play. You want them peaking and you need to build up confidence and work out a lot of the roster quirks. A lot of times these are also done as friendly gestures to an AD or perhaps coach as well. I know this one won’t be super exciting but I look forward to these games and using them to tinker with lineups and get our young guys playing time.

conceptually I whole heartedly agree with this sentiment. As of late, I waiver a bit from this purely due to getting curb stomped by 30.

Separate thought.... I wonder if anyone as the foresight to possibly schedule these games in the future for the following year's transfer portal market for good players able to make the jump from mid-major to P6

I’d play schools with guys that we might want to target…get them in the Hall…little friendly recruiting handshake and compliments…it’s like a free official visit.

Those must have been incredible meetings…..

”Coach…you have no recruits and the ship is….BEEP BEEP BEEP!

There’s a Brinks truck with Simon on it backing up to the loading dock

Simon says let there be players (especially guards)

trying to imagine getting a million dollars as a college kid….it would ended in income tax evasion and 🍕 🍺

Imagine Coach Knight dealing with this era of kids…disaster…but then I also imagine a coach like Crean and how he could have put together a roster and filled holes on his misses…he would have had some fun teams.

Staff hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs to walk it off this off-season. I get the NIL is great, but everyone here would have laughed if you told them we’d bring in what may end up the #1 portal class after Liam decommitted. Just a phenomenal job by Woodson and company. Most talent in the Big Ten. Now lets go win some ball games.

Why would it been different? We basically swapped 5* with Tucker…I don’t see anything changing. I just didn’t realize how much those supporting Woodson was willing to pay to see their guy succeed. We have plenty of talent…now it comes down to if Woody can coach it. Not saying he can’t but he has everything a coach could ask for…so it’s put up or shut up….better be no hump he can’t get them over.

The more I watch these playoffs the more it looks scripted. How a team could lead by 43 two days ago and today is down 18 with two to go in the half

It looks scripted because anyone could tell you before the series that the Pacers are soft as tissue on defense and NY under Tibs have been one of the hardest playing teams in the NBA. Pacers are a pretty poor road team and still lack that dominant player that can carry a team on the road.

Hali is a nice point guard but disappears for significant stretches and entire games. He definitely isn’t our superstar to center the team around if we ever want to win a championship. All of this was evident before the series and outside the fact that we our suppose to have the superior bench and we have more size then NY and are getting whipped in both those areas…yeah it’s predictable.

Boston losing an uninspired home game to a much inferior foe is predictable…OKC showing youth is predictable…but the Minnesota/Denver series should show you it ain’t scripted…man that one has been eye opening how that one has swung.

This is very true, what worries me though is having only a warm body the season can tank with just one season ending injury!?🤷‍♂️

This team should be deep enough that an injury to anyone while would certainly hurt…we should still be a tournament team easily. This team can play small and actually might be the best for us. We have multiple ball handlers, wings, and with an addition to the front court should be able to weather just about anything and still be a good team….maybe not a B1G favorite but still dangerous.

I dont look for anything to happen soon. Woodson's car has been at cook hall all week. vacation most likely. Also Woodson just bought the land KFC and Taco Bell sit on. East 3rd by the mall. They are closing next week. tearing them down to build a Crew car wash. just what btown needs is another car wash. So he is busy.

Or just trying to keep the players out of trouble this summer?!

Frank Vogel let go after 1 year in Phoenix.

For those keeping score at home Trilly said this in Mid-March.

All these superstars got old fast. Instead of teaming up they should have jumped ship to one of these young and up and coming teams like OKC, Minnesota, or Orlando….where they can get some help….old and broken down guys won’t help Durant…would think he would have figured that out by now.

We couldn’t land one of the Michigan St bigs that left for portal ?  What’s their names? Sisoko and Hogard? Ballo probably only plays 20 mins a game next season.

My hope is Reneau is coming off the bench to play the 5 and we see minimal playing time next to Ballo. Play smaller and surround Ballo with shooters and play makers like Mgbako, Galloway, Carlysle, and Rice…then we can mix Reneau, Goode, Tucker and Company in.

I’ve not been a defender since early this past year, but I want the same things you do, and I won’t be rooting for him to lose. But I can’t say I won’t be discouraged a lot quicker than you if things are rough early.

If I see him roll out large minutes of Ballo next to Reneau and Mgbako and whole sale NHL line changes and us running the same ole weave offense with Mgbako standing in the corner…I won’t be happy. If we don’t vary our offense and attack to utilize the different lineups and weapons we have…he will take a lot of heat. We have something very special in the making here.
