  1. Actually I think it won't effect him that much. At least not until his 4th year cap hold etc comes up. He is only making 3-3.5 million a year. Boston will need the cheap rookie contract to keep the cap space low. He could get packaged in a deal of Hayward possibly as an asset for a team to take Gordon's contract but as far as just out right trading Romeo...he will get likely get a couple years. They are going to have to extend Tatum soon as well so they are going to remain strapped. I did see an interesting trade scenario involving Steven Adams of OKC and Hayward....since both have pretty bad contracts but Boston likely needs a big more than the glut of wings that they have. I could see Boston adding in someone like Romeo to get OKC to go for it since Adams to me is a better/more productive player imo.
  2. Yes. It's like watching soccer players take a dive. Laughable. Hockey and Football you just expect to be banged up and bruised and aching the whole year. As for basketball it's funny I played that too and yet while some physicality it was totally different. I will say I have more lasting damage done on my knees and ankles from play basketball though than football for sure!
  3. Which is why I thought Andrew Luck got off pretty easy in the media. Not that he doesn't have the right obviously to decide but in the NFL you play hurt. Everyone is hurt...nobody is just 100% healthy. Football you are banged up and bruised and sore from day 1 to the end. It's expected. It just isn't the same in basketball/nba. Maybe it's the guaranteed contracts...or maybe it's just the culture but there definitely is a double standard between the two.
  4. He is too heavy/big to be putting that type of torque and movement on those knees. He needs to slim down. Bad thing is he will be out of shape even more coming back from surgery. They should sit him as long as it takes and then get low impact cardio/diet to get about 20-25 lbs off the kid first. Nick Saban is famous for ending careers. He pushes kids to get on the field or they will lose their spot and then they all go into the combine with injuries that need surgery etc and hurt their professional career. I would not play for him. He only cares about himself. Tua likely should shut it down (if doctors think) he has a pro career to think about.
  5. Yep...all weekend the sky was falling when talking to Pacer fans...and come to find out they were much closer than people thought. Pacers didn't want to go more than Turners contract...Sabonis I think wanted 4/80...ended up meeting in the middle. It's a good contract...and very tradable if need be that the two can't work out starting together because I don't think you want a 19 million a year guy coming off the bench.
  6. I don't know much about Troy other than his time here at IU. Which was big highs and crazy lows imo. Very inconsistent....too many turnovers (but who did value the ball on Crean's teams)...kind of a streaky player. Is it a locker room fit or practice effort or something?? I mean how he didn't stick with Houston who was filling their roster with vet min. contracts and needed young bodies is beyond me. Maybe somebody knows a specific reason because he has talent there..just needs some development imo.
  7. Most of those are 10 day contracts where they bring a guy up from their g league team to fill out roster for practice etc with injuries but when guy comes back they have to get below the 15 man roster or something like that. If you have a specific example I can look into it but typically that’s the scenario.
  8. Agreed Indiana has made Vic and he both look pretty good by putting them in successful positions. Sabonis has ate up second units as he is a mismatch for opposing 5s mostly. As a starting 4 it will remain to be seen. I think he is upset because in the draft we tried to move into the late top 10 offering him and teams said no they wanted Myles. We paid Myles and not him. I don’t think he will net us a lottery pick. I also don’t think Pacers will trade for a pick. They expect to win and will want a player to help right away. I’d expect another young player on an affordable contract with a couple years left.
  9. He is under contract this year and next he is a RFA...no rush on that. Heck the Pacers may pay him still. It’s a bit soon to be worrying too much about his contact. Why? He said he would let his agent (his job) deal with his contract. Meaning he isn’t going to get wrapped up in it during the season and continue talking about it in the media. That is professional. Also...he definitely deserves a new contact...he has played well...how big is the question.
  10. Not sure he will ever be a full time starter but i suspect as long as Yogi is healthy he will have a long career in 1 and 2 year contracts for a few million a year. He can run a second unit and he can score. I’ve seem many many worse pgs in the league that have made it 10 yrs...I have no doubt Yogi will too. That said we all would love to see his usage go up. He performs well when given the chance. At least in Sacramento he isn’t buried behind guys. He will get some run because like I said Joseph will get some run at the 2 as much as being the back up point.
  11. I think his rookie year will be very much a work in progress...but I think he will have a phenomenal sophomore season.
  12. It's a long season. The second game today he played 20 minutes with 12 points. They are playing tons of players with the expanded rosters right now. Regular season will tell more.
  13. No. He has a player option for next year. Clearly he won't turn down another 30 odd million dollars...he will never see that kind of money again. OOps...thought we were still talking Gordon. You are correct...this is Yogi's last year on this one...but yes the money they invested in him would mean they had a plan for him. Guess it could change but I don't see Guy or Ulis taking his minutes this year. Joseph however can play both guard positions but I imagine will steal most of his minutes behind Fox.
  14. I wouldn't worry about Ulis and Guy is on a two way deal so he probably is at least a year away. Clearly Joseph is backing up Fox but with the contract they gave Yogi they obviously have a plan for him. Hopefully he will land on a roster next year with a multi-year deal that plans on making him a full time back up. I think he has proven he can play.
  15. Let's be honest..he wasn't the most graceful big man in the game. He couldn't make an offensive move without tripping over his big feet. I appreciated his work ethic and improvement and contribution to the Pacers but Embiid surpassed anything ol Roy could teach him after his first year.
  16. What is he going to teach Embiid and Horford?? Let’s be real...he is there to stand between Embiid and the rim for him to shoot over.
  17. Yes sad it will be those billionaires rebuilding the resorts and people going there and relaxing while the poor rest of the country is struggling to survive. That said those resorts do employ people so they can afford a better life but it would be nice to see people instead going to help them rebuild.
  18. I mean it looks like a nuclear bomb hit the island. Very sad so many more are going to learn those that didn’t get out didn’t survive.
  19. That’s pretty low floor. His presence on the defensive end alone will make him much more valuable than those guys. I don’t pretend to think the kid is going to be the next Calbert Cheney but if he can consistently knock down corner 3s when the ball gets kicked out or rotated and be a finisher on the fast break he will be huge improvement on the offensive end. Defensively I think he can be even more special. He has the mind set to be an AJ Moye I think.
  20. Something that isn’t slow is his quick twitch jumping. I mean he doesn’t need to gather himself to jump and put back or to finish around the rim. I mean the ease and quickness in which he gets up and finishes is amazing. That elite athleticism really translates because how quickly he can put back or finish before the defense can gather themselves is a big deal. Really a hybrid of Victor and OG I see here. If Archie can polish him up oh wow we will see something special with this kid! I can see why Crean went after him...his similarity to Dwayne Wade is striking.
  21. For some one that athletic he has a smooth stroke. There is enough raw talent there for him to be an all time great...and that is saying a lot!
  22. Dang! I mean hook a sister up? Why is she robbing people! Sad story.
  23. I think he is at his best when he actually attacks the rim. Don’t get me wrong he will get a ton of looks playing alongside Russ and Harden but I find when he is aggressive it usually gets him going.
  24. People are jaded because of how last year turned out. Fact was that team was not ready for a OAD talent. People think that a OAD can’t help you win but they can. Issue was that team was not balanced enough to best benefit Romeo or utilize him to our best interest. It was why Caleb Love was told we would try to put guys around him. Romeo didn’t have the right guys around him last year and it would not benefit Love either if we didn’t overhaul the roster a bit. Honestly not sure we still are in a place that will work best..maybe when Jordan, Anthony, and Trey are sophomores or juniors we will start to have a strong core that can best utilize the talents of a super star kid. They have the right personality to play with one I think.
  25. I’ll take your word for it. I joined here because it was just filth, negativity, name calling, and an embarrassment to people of Indiana but hopefully it’s been cleaned up. It would be horrible if a recruit visited it and thought that is how us fans act. It would be great if we could get HSN to be the first forum to pop up from a google search.
