Why not just take him undrafted?  Who's gonna spend even a second round pick on Bronny knowing they don't have LeBron?

Because Lebron would throw a fit if Bronny doesn’t have his draft day moment! Its a coronation don’t you know?!

    You didn’t get the memo:

Scott Dolson, Indiana’s vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics, offered this when pressed about Woody’s style of play.

“I think that’s what he’s been trying to do in the portal,” Dolson said. “Making certain that we can have a roster that supports the offense he wants to run.”

No offense to Scott but his 3 years here he has had the ability to build a roster and to play “his” offense. We’ve watched him for 3 years run his offense. So forgive me for being hesitant to take Scott at his word.

We didn't just delete a complaint thread. And it gets frustrating that every time we do anything the tin foul hats come out.

We have no agenda as mods. Hell, we are as divided in our views as the general members are. So it would be pretty damn hard to be agenda driven.

We simplay had too many Woodson threads at the time. And new, non Woodson, threads were being hijacked.

We basically just tried to funnel the conversation more and keep the site streamlined. It's really that simple.

So, no, us over controlling moderators have not designated a specific location for Mike Woodson complaints for next freaking season.

    But thanks for asking.

And to be clear. The thread was not deleted. Threads were merged. Not posts were removed from the site.

Find it as weird as you want. Is what it is. And we are transparent in what we do.

That’s quite a lengthy answer….all I needed was a yes or no. Can I post my complaints here. Since all things Woody should seem to fall under this thread…I’ll take that as a yes then. Thanks again for all you guys do! Still the best  sports forum on all the interwebs. 🫡

Sounds like IU may be zeroing in on 2 in-state guys (possibly among other non-Indiana guys): Hemenway and Hatton. Gotta believe they are at least contacting other centers too, whether they can get any of them to visit or not.

Think it’s smart way we have utilized our money and the portal this offseason. Use big $$ to lure in top talent in the country then infuse local Indiana kids who might be willing to take lesser minutes for a nice payday and chance to play for their state university. I like it.

We merged the Mike Woodson thread.

So this is where our complaints go next season? I just want to make sure I post them in the correct thread and don’t get labeled some troll or a Debbie downer. Most forums have a complaints thread so I find it very strange we suddenly deleted it when this coach has done nothing on the court to show he has earned our full unbridled support.

CMW this time last year was leaving a scholarship open….which if filled might have meant multiple wins IMHO

He was still hockey subbing entire lines and angrily defending it to the press until  it magically went away

If he strikes out on Sisley & Mullins…. next year will be the first IU team ever without an Indiana kid ?

Goode will get another season so no.

That would be so incredibly foolish.  Bronny didn't even demonstrate he could play college ball at a high level.

They will buy a 2nd rd pick late…he will start in the g-league and then they will set a date for him to sign a two way deal and have a big to do about it.

I’m not sure that’s true. I think Woodson has support from some donors that a coach like Crean wouldn’t receive. But Woodson didn’t raise the money.

Agree. Woody has support from the people that matter…but I don’t think there is anything about him as a coach that suggests these kids would be tripping over themselves to play for him. I agree any other coach probably would have been left out to dry had they been in Woodys position with a poor showing of a season and no incoming recruits after striking out…he is fortunate he has the support of those that have the $$. They really bailed him out.

And I expect this to be the popular take if we do well this year... nothing to do with coaching...we just "bought" ourselves success...

    🙄

I don’t care how we have success. I’m not going to hold it against him….but the point remains…if the big donors pulled their money…his goose would have been cooked. That is undeniable. If the NIL money backers decided they were done with Woody…he would have been in deep trouble.

Did we buy this team…sure did. That’s ok…but let’s not kid ourselves and think that all these kids were dying to come play for Woody. If Tom Crean was the coach this team would have been just as stacked.

  10. Woody is lucky that he is coaching in the day and age of NIL and portaling.  Also that he has a ton of high level donor support. If last year happened under Archie or another former coach they wouldn’t have a job. You play the way we did last year combine with losing your only damn recruit there would have been no coming back from that….no big $$ donors to buy your players for you…they would just bought you out instead. Imo what has happened this offseason is simply the result of IU being IU…and little about who is the coach. I think there are 100 other coaches that could be running this program and have similar results with the $$ that has been thrown at this program.  I had little faith that Woody would be fired but I still see little to give me faith that he is the right guy to be running the program.

Lol at the about face regarding use of the 13th scholly.

Unless we had a kid willing to come in and redshirt Hemingway would be a perfect fit. A home state kid. Used to playing limited minutes and having a defined role. If he catches a heater you ride him. Plays 2-3 and compliments Goode who will help at the 3-4. Veteran kid…with tons of bball experience playing at a high level. Won’t blink at the competition.

I'd like to think there's no way Milwaukee's bench could play that well in the second half, but the Pacers aren't exactly making anything difficult for them.

If we don’t learn to play defense I can only imagine the records Brunson or Embiid would put up against us. They have no dangerous guys in defend and we still can’t bear down. Certainly would trade almost our entire bench for a 3 and d wing.

Hemingway will not sniff Tucker minutes.

Tucker does not have a P6 ready body.  He has not proven himself against B1G level competition. I’ll love it if he does but he is a young freshman. I think by the end of the year he will carve out minutes and a role but he is not a 1 and done kid. He will or should be a 2-3 year kid.

I think this should be the rotation

    Rice/ Galloway

    Carlyle,/ Newton

    MM/ Tucker

    Reneau/Goode

    Ballo/ C from Monmouth

If Newton is ready to see the floor I’ll be absolutely shocked! The thing is we won’t be running NHL line shifts. These guys will flex between 2,3, & 4. Guys like Galloway and Goode and Mgbako.

Again this is if Hemingway commits I just don’t see Tucker playing ahead of him or Goode or Galloway. He will have to play really well to carve out a role.

Gallo isn’t a true pg but his command of the offense is so much better than Cupps. Cupps’ contribution on offense last year was to get the ball over half court and give up the ball asap, then run away from the ball. His per 40 assists were 2.1! Horrible for a pg. Gallo was 5.5. Cupps has to make a huge jump to be a backup pg.

I have a ton of faith in him. He has bulldog mentality on defense and he has a high basketball iq. I believe his confidence will grow this year and he will excel in this role. Galloway had a different role when the ball was in his hands but I think we all agree he played best off the ball his junior year shooting well and the floor opened up without him having to over dribble to get by his man. It will be best for him to go back to that role imo.
