    Brilliant move by Harbaugh.

His NC will overshadow anything else in his UM tenure, so he will always be revered by the school and fanbase.

Like him or not, he's simply won everywhere he's gone. And now he won't have to battle the NCAA anymore.

Justin Herbert has got to be so happy.

I can’t help but see this as a parallel to Pete Carroll.
Take a team to the championship game and then bail on the school to escape repercussions from his actions.

No respect for Carroll and no respect for Harbaugh

I don’t think I said it should never be punishable, but I did think they called the XJ nut shot correctly. They called a personal foul on the Rutgers players and I was good with it not rising to more. I guess they could have called an F1 on Rutgers but I think in light of him getting hit in the nuts that would be an overreaction from the refs.

And, by the way, your link at the bottom of your posts goes to a Twitter comment by Coach Adranga, nothing to do with Fisch, who by the way has clarified his comments during the Wisconsin game to explain that he was not criticizing the coaching or the team, but upset over another flagrant 2 call.

But our fans are the problem

If this shows anything, it's that the fans are engaged, not apathetic. It could very well signify that the fans are a source of problem if the majority of the 1 million are disgruntled and complaining.

Other's have touched on it some but for me the biggest problem with IU basketball is the culture (or lack of it). Folks have made statement about UNC, Duke, etc. going through coaching changes and continuing on with success. Big difference is one, those schools didn't fire the previous coach and two, the successors were able to continue the existing culture. Yes UNC fired Matt Daugherty but he was still trying to maintain the established culture as did his replacement. Yes each coach puts their own stamp on a culture but at the core, these programs haven't shifted there.

Establishing a culture (a strong, competitive, healthy one) takes time.  I look at it this way:

    • IU had an established strong, competitive, winning, culture built and maintained over decades.. Let's call this "culture A"
    • RMK is fired
    • Mike Davis takes over and tries to maintain culture A but was not a good enough coach to succeed and is fired
    • Sampson is hired and intentionally (according to many accounts) blows up the culture to establish a "new IU" let's call this "culture B"
    • yadda yadda Sampson is fired.. at this point, culture A no longe exists in the program and culture B is completely flushed
    • CTC is hired to rebuild IU but he wasn't part of culture A so he works to establish yet another culture..culture C.
    • Given the most time in the job since RMK, I would say he was able to establish a strong, healthy culture but other factors ultimately lead to his firing.
    • Enter CAM and culture D, the job is too big for him and he is fired.
    • Woodson is hired... the program is now so far removed from "culture A" and the landscape has changed so much that he is trying to establish yet another culture (culture E) even though he was part of culture A.

The biggest concern for me is that at this stage in his career and with the lack of the "next coach in waiting" on his staff, I don't see that he has time to establish that culture and we will be looking at yet another culture reset when his time ends.

Do I think Woodson should be fired after this season? No. Do I think Fife was the answer to the coach in waiting? No (I think Dolson tried to force that and was a bad idea in hindsight). Would I like to see Woodson make changes to his staff? Yes

    Apologies for the long post

    Agree with some/most of this.

Crean's tenure was marred with problems with kids from "The Movement."  He had others as well who created problems. I would not characterize his culture as "healthy' without somehow fitting in the concept that it was tainted.

When I’ve watched live, haven’t gone back and read games I watched later such as Wisconsin.

I’m not sure game threads impact our teams performance quite the same as coaches and players.

Yeah, no doubt. Just saying that the fans on here have not done a good job. Myself included

TJD clearly got better the last two years. JHS clearly got better. Thompson got better. Galloway got better. Reneau couldn’t defend the perimeter last year at all. He is getting better game by game. Some want him as a 5 but he is not a 5. He can play the 5 some but for him to be successful he need stomach as 4. He is shooting the ball from 3 very well. Handling the ball better. Reneau as a sophomore is ahead of were TJD was in a lot of areas. But Malik is not the athlete that TJD was He is better a the 4 because he struggles against the length of most 5.

People can complain about the coaches all they want. But they have clearly made most players better. Coaches only can help players get better. But it is on the players as much as the coaches. Some improve some don’t

THD became a much bigger threat because he became a much better passer out of the post. He also became better/more confident in his handle.

Ware has significantly improved his game. From a guy whose motor was in question, he has become almost an automatic double-double.

Because the Titans are absolute ass, got rid of two of their best players because they're cheap, and he was 42-24 before the last two years?

I thought the Titans played damn well this year.

He won games with Ryan Tannehill lol

He won in a crappy division. He won 2 playoff games in the same season which means the other 3 years he was one and done in the playoffs.
He could not win having Henry, Hopkins and Brown on the same team.

That injury was deep for you.

    Nope.

Just hate that the Colts had a wasted year from the 4th overall pick due to his inability to make good decisions to keep him in games.

Meanwhile the other two rookie quarterbacks in the division got significantly more experience on the field and are way ahead of where AR is.

I was at a high school game.  Got home at halftime.  Had the tv on in the background for the start of 2nd half while I was loading the dishwasher and folding some laundry.

After finishing those chores, I decided to sit down with the Ken Follett book I'm currently reading.

All in all, I enjoyed the night much more than I would have if I had watched the game.

Found out this morning about Gunn's ejection.  Just smh at the state of things right now.

I finished the most recent book last week.

    Love the Follett historical novels

Just revisiting this now after the season.

@BGleas  still have a problem with Nick at 9? I actually was wondering how you felt given how the season ended up…if you want him back or someone else like Vrabel or Belichick.

What’s all the Vrabel love about? Winning % regular season of 55%. 2-3 in the playoffs and never made it to the Super Bowl. Coached in a division that was mediocre at best for the majority of his tenure.

  11. I do not think CMW should be fired after this season. And the bottom line is that he is ultimately responsible for the results on the floor. However…

I did some reading about the responsibilities of the rest of the staff. From what I understand, Kenya is the primary guy in developing the bigs. I think we can all agree that he has done an excellent job over the last 3 years.

I’m not as clear as to who is the guy working with the 1-3 positions. I did read that Calbert’s title is Director of Player Development. I don’t know whether he is succeeding in that role or if he is just the administrator and the assistant coaches are the hands on guys.

All that said, I do believe that the staff needs to be evaluated this offseason and it might be time for an upgrade. I would look at how Michigan has brought in Martelli as essentially a second head coach to Howard. I think Dolsen should look at a May or Michael Lewis for the spot with the understanding/agreement that he takes over either at Woodson’s retirement or removal. Call it an exit strategy… done all the time in corporate management.

Bye week…. Woodson should use this time to go recruit. The other time start laying out the plan for the team (players individually) what the future holds.

Agreed, but what is he going to sell to recruits other than playing time and NIL $$$?

Maybe that’s enough for some guys. Certainly can’t make any promises about a long tournament run and the visibility that comes with it
