Who else in the portal has the staff spent more time, effort, energy, and resources on than Ledlum? They’ve been recruiting him for a month.

I’m not uptight over anybody. Simply ridiculing those who don’t see this as a significant miss and potentially a huge blow to next seasons success. This isn’t the, “oh well on to the next one” type miss.

It is a huge blow. 100% agree.

For sure. I still think it'd be hard for me to give it to JHS over BS from what I've seen, so far.

But.. yeah, undoubtedly crazier things have happened.

JHS is for sure trending up. If he continues on this trajectory and we continue to stack dubs, I can definitely see him taking it. Like IUFLA said, coupled with OSU's collapse. BS will win the overall stats battle, but JHS has that dawg in him during B10 play.

  3. Anyone have the +/- stats for Gunn and Banks? I was surprised he didn't bring them into the game earlier in the 2nd half when the starters were struggling. Granted it worked out staying with the starting core when he got the lead he was looking for. I just enjoyed the intensity Gunn, Banks, Duncomb, JHS and Bates brought for the +/- 6 mins they were on together.

I am a sucker for a real stitched on number authentic jersey.  I would buy an IU one yesterday if I could.

In general not only am I not impressed by the adidas shirt offers I find most shirts on fanatics are made cheaply.  I buy all my IU apparel from Homefield:

    https://www.homefieldapparel.com/collections/indiana-university-iu-hoosiers-store

I got one of the Watford shirts from them a few years ago and the quality is fantastic, plus super soft.  I refuse to buy any IU gear from fanatics anymore.  Also the Homefield company was started by IU grads.

I would also state I bought some Nike gear this summer for an MLB game and the quality was quite good and that site is run by Fanatics so to me whoever the maker of the product is important.

I saw some students with a stitched jersey. Was wondering where they got them....

Yeah man I want an IU football jersey in the worst way and it just isn't out there to be found. The only IU football jerseys I own are from the Cam Cameron era and um, they don't fit so good nowadays. LOL

I bought that jersey a few weeks back. It is a nice fit, personally.

I missed the play. He's of course a little biased because he was a receiver, but listening to Keyshawn Johnson this morning he did not think it was offensive PI, and he felt it was a good no call.

He said they were both fighting for position and he felt that Godwin did not extend to push off, etc. Both he and Jay Williams also thought the defender flopped in a way that actually was so fake that it cost him.

Not saying that is gospel, just what they said this morning.

The defenders balance was way off. Godwin ran an elite route. Amazing seeing Brady do this at his age.

Anybody questioning the no call on Goodwin on that last catch? He sure extended his arm on the defender pushing off before turning and catching the pass. 15 yard penalty there could have changed the outcome. Very fortunate not to get a call.

I thought it was a double penalty. Defender held him and the extension of the arm took it to another level. Should have been offsetting penalties.

I must be a glutton for punishment but I went back and watched a chunk of the game, particularly looking for any bright spots.

    • I thought Weston Kramer at D tackle was slippery to block.  He was really quick and active. He gets low and is hard to block.  He looked good.
    • Ryder Anderson also looked good.  Quick and long.  Handy is another who can be good.
    • Our corners were tight in coverage.
    • On the O line, Bedford looked good.  He wasn’t the problem, IMO.
    • The O line was so bad that it was hard to get a gauge on Carr.  But I thought he ran hard and physically.  They ran him a lot wide and looked afraid to run between the tackles.
    • We have a good kicker.

But the negatives were obviously way greater.  Too many guys underperformed.

    • It was jarring to see how truly bad Penix was.  It wasn’t just inaccuracy. He had some terrible mis-reads.  Not much the team can do when QB1 lays an egg.  You aren’t expecting that.
    • Our receivers need to man up besides Fryfogle.  Matthews, Buckley, come on you’re veterans.  They showed no juice.  If these guys aren’t going to assert themselves, then we have some young guys.
    • I took a good look at the O line.  They tried to run behind Jones a lot and he wasn’t up to the task.  The announcer said Haggard was expected to start at LT but had a bum ankle which I didn’t expect.  Maybe he will be an upgrade.  I like Katic alot but he had too many lapses.  He was leaky, allowing them to penetrate.  Iowa stunted a lot and we didn’t look well schooled for the assignments.  I didn’t notice Powell hurting us at center, but he didn’t distinguish himself either.
    • If we are scared to run between the tackles, that is a problem.  That’s where Carr should be running.
    • We still had too many pass plays without a good pass rush.  Looked like Warren implemented fewer blitzes from surprise spots like safety, although we did get a good corner blitz.
    • Too many bleeping penalties.  Give Iowa credit.  They were sound as heck.

Very disappointing game.  Iowa was extremely sound and we weren’t.  This wasn’t a mismatch.  Their QB is mediocre.  They capitalized time and again and didn’t wait for us to match them.

By the way, I appreciate Don Fischer’s play by play after listening to Iowa’s guy.  Fischer is always excellent walking you through the play, knowing you can’t see it.  Iowa’s guy, not so much.  So often he doesn’t explain well what happens on the play.  Very frustrating.

What was your thoughts on the D's execution of the first Iowa TD run?

Caden Curry is a beast. Faster than I thought. Carmel just got first first down with 7 to go in 2nd. Backup QB or 3rd string depending on who you believe not helping matters. One thing I'll say is this about Tayven Jackson. Kid has the size, presence,etc....but the kid hasn't even tapped into his skillset yet....

    As I type Carmel scores.

Ditto, he is the best high school player I've seen in person.

Deflection after deflection. Kid is going to be playing on Sundays in 3 years.
