  1. NBA Draft room assessment of Carlyle... NBA Draft Room Kanaan Carlyle POSITION: PG FROM: Stanford (Milton, GA) HT: 6-2 WT: 175 Draft Notes "Carlyle is an ultra-quick and explosive lead guard who flashes big time upside. He has an elite first step and blow-by ability and overall top end athleticism. He’ll need to keep getting stronger but he’s well on his way to having an NBA frame. Carlyle is a blur up and down the court and has an extra gear. He loves to push the pace and attack the rim or set up teammates in the open court. Has a nice pull-up game and can score 1on1, taking it all the way to the rim or getting into his mid range game. He’s a capable 3pt shooter but has a ways to go in terms of becoming a knock down threat from NBA range. But he’s young and we’ll see big improvements in his jumper over the coming years. On the defensive end Carlyle really gets after it pressuring the ball and using his elite quickness to disrupt in the passing lanes. Has all the tools to be a great defender at the next levels of play." I'll take that 🙂
  2. Los Serpentines look more like Los Bananas to me...
  3. The last of "The Boys of Summer." I've said it before, but if the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn, that'd be my team...
  4. I thought for sure Darryl Evans would be double digits...
  5. If you hooked up with Alanis, you'd be in that AMC Stubs A-list Unlimited Club before you can say Dave Coulier 🙂
  6. To people who know the history of baseball, sure... But to everybody else, they're just as shiny as the other 25... And there are some parallels...free agency was relatively new to baseball during that time, and the Yankees scouting/farm system wasn't what it had been... Steinbrenner used the system to build a team quickly...just like we (hopefully) have...
  7. While I'm positive money is a top consideration, TJD and Kel'el didn't hurt our cause any, I'm sure
  8. Just to he way the game is played nowadays... In the 70s, they used to call Steinbrenner's Yankees the best team money can buy... Doesn't tarnish those 2 World Series trophies one bit...
  9. A Whitey quote... "Down there (New Athens, Illinois), we've got more taverns than grocery stores. I walked in, threw down a bill and said, 'Give everybody a drink.' Nice gesture I thought, but down the bar somebody yelled, 'Hey big shot, your brother is still a better ballplayer than you are.'"
  10. One of the "Boys of Summer" (great book, btw) Carl Erskine or "Oisk" as Brooklynites called him died at 97...
  11. Sparky was good...Bobby Cox...Jim Leyland... I like the guys that didn't put up with any players' crap...old school guys...
  12. Passed away at 92 Hate the Cardinals, but for my money he was the best manager I ever saw...
  13. We'll never change each other's minds, but this is the ONLY home run in Mickey Lolich's 16 year career and on the biggest stage... As Harry Caray says at the end of the clip, "that's what makes baseball the fascinating, unpredictable game it is."
  14. Joking...I know it's here to stay... There were some pretty good hitters among pitchers back in the day...Drysdale, Gibson, Earl Wilson... And there was this guy named Ruth...🙂
  15. Oh my! Michael Busch 5 games in a row!
  16. If there was no DH he'd be used to running the bases and wouldn't have been hurt! 😁
  17. 19...can't believe Rob Deer cost me so much...
