Mavs would hopefully get laughed out of the room for wanting 3 picks and Turner with a great contract for pick 10.

LOL  I wasn't the one adding Turner in the deal. My goal was to have them laughed at for giving away the 10 pick with all that potential for the 3 picks.

I see a couple polished guys like TJD and JJJ from UCLA maybe on the board and a few younger PF/C types like Greg Jackson, Dillon mitchell, James Nnaji.

Mostly agree. I cannot agree with the Hooker thing, though.

I watched more Tennessee football then anyone the last 2 years. I just don't see the translation, especially being 25, almost 26 and coming off a major injury in Nov.

The stuff about Levis and Herbert though, I very much agree with. Levis might be Daniel Jones ish.

Fair enough on Hooker.  I've only seen a couple of his games this past season and he looked like a legit prospect. I wasnt necesarily indicating to take him in round 1 but what if he is sitting in the 3rd or 4th round like Dak or Ridder and colts took a non QB at 4?  I know the jury is out on Ridder but we'll find out this year.

Since we are 3 weeks from the draft and wanted to ask others on their thought on this scenario.

Say Stroud and Young go 1,2 and someone trades up to 3 and take Richardson. Say you have Levis as the #23 prospect on your big board and have Carter and Anderson as 1,2 on your board.  Do you really take the #23 prospect over the top 2 prospects at 4.  I would take one of the top 2 prospects because I want the BPA over taking a QB just because you need a QB.  I have seen to many teams overreach for a QB and those teams are constantly picking at the top of the draft. IE: Jets and Browns

I think you just treat the QB position differently.  I think Levis physically is a legit high end QB prospect and QB's will always be a priority.      Levis played on a team void of talent around him in the deepest conference in CFB while Stroud and Young played for top 5 powers with OL's and weapons all over the place.  Didn't Dolphins take Tua over Herbert because Herbert had an underwhelming final season at Oregon?    Lions took Okudah just before those 2 and he has now been traded to Atlanta.  Detroit looks on the rise. I'd probably try to get Hooker later in draft if possible but if were a Colts fan would not be disappointed in Levis.

Now the RB position is devalued and Bijon Robinson is clearly top 10 talent in this draft and looks to be a next generational RB who can probably play a lot as a receiver too.   Is he really going to fall to the 20s.

Turner won't be traded after signing the extension. They like how he works with Hailiburton and improved his play this year. Also the Pacers greatest needs are a wing who can play defense and shoot the 3. They also need a stretch 4

That may be but they structured his deal to be trade friendly and in the NBA don't believe anything that front offices throw out there.    The extension could also be in place to not lose him for nothing as a FA and keep a trade asset they couldn't find a deal for him they liked before TDL.   I tend to think they want to and will keep him but the extension means little on whether he would be traded or not. They wanted Ayton so a deal to Suns might make a lot more sense in the off season than a top 10 pick. I'm pretty certain Mavs will trade pick if they hold on to it after the lottery.

I remember the Draymond Green draft and the Mavs traded down for 3 picks in similar deal.  Passed on Green 3 times.  Got 2 busts and Crowder who turned out OK. lol

I doubt the 3 would get you to 10 but I could see pairing them with say Heild or Turner doing it. 10 is about where this draft really turns muddy and separates from the top imo. Not that guys later can’t become contributors but on a team like Dallas…you are so top heavy salary wise and you won’t own your pick next year you may need to take multiple guys that can contribute and fill your bench with affordable young talent.

I really like Walker or Whitmore for Mavs at 10. More realistically it could be Hendricks who i suspect could need a year.  I think if could get TJD, Jaquez and one young center or a guy like Dillon Mitchell from Texas then the trade makes a lot of sense.

I was actually thinking all 3 would to big a price to pay for Pacers. I don't think the Mavs could get to the phone quick enough to take all 3 and Turner for 10 and whatever the salary match is (Maxi and Bullock or Hardaway). The Pacers have a ton of wings so Maxi seems only fit for rotation especially if Tunrer goes.

Actually think Mavs would trade just 10 and salary for Turner.

  6. Luka is just fine. Everything has been so easy for him but now he has to transition from being a wonder kid to a man and handle being face of the franchise.   My only complaint is his incessant whining on the court.  IMO, the Mavs are in a far better assuming KI is resigned than they were going into the last 2 summers. No confidence in the front office though to build around them.

Cuban is terrible.  I'm sure he signs off and gives direction. He always had Donnie and RC to bail him out after his ideas chasing big names doesn't work.   Since RC and donnie left, he gave THJ a 4 year deal rather than go after maybe DeRozan so the front office posse could yuck it up in the bars in slovenia to celebrate Luka's big extension.  I like THJ but cmon.     He should of traded Brunson to the Knicks at the trade deadline or in a SnT.  His feeling were hurt and he wouldn't even talk to the Knicks.  You could see the Brunson to Knicks coming for a year before it happened. The Knicks had players that would helped the Mavs this year. Losing Brunson the player was not near as bad as not getting any return.  Same is about to happen with C Wood.  I guess Cuban is trying to keep up with the Jones's. lol

Pacers have 3 picks between 25 and 35.  So Pacer fans, would you deal them for the 10th pick in the draft?

  7. Watching the game Barrero did not want to leave the game.  Better not to push a more serious injury in the hammy and make sure all is good, I think. Vosler replaced him and hit the 3 run bomb to win the game.

What will the pitch clock do to pitchers when the heat and humidity settle in?

  8. Great start by the Rangers.  Let's see how the back end of the starting rotation does. So great seeing Bochy as the Manager.

Reds are exciting so far.  Seems they bottom'd out last year and have turned the corner.  Thanks to DirectV, i'll get to watch them on extra Innings.  Being 1000 miles away from cincy, don't have to worry about the MLB blackouts. Actually, the best thing about Extra Inning package is to streaam the radio broadcasts on the MLB app while working out or in car.

I am waiting to see how they do in April.  Then I might be willing to pay.  Maybe.

Well Dirctv bailed me out and are giving the Extra Innings package for free.  I was going to dump Dirctv after the NBA package expired because my employee perk of free NFL sunday Ticket is no longer on DTV.  This is probab;y a reaction to keep Sunday Ticket people from dumping the service but I'll take it.  Maybe i'll move on from DTV after MLB season.

  10. I don't see injury issue with WBC. MLB teams are closely tied in to what is going on with their players.  There are a lot of restrictions on the pitchers so WBC is just another form of spring training.    It's not like they are throwing 120 pitches to win a game.  Diaz got hurt jumping up and down in celebration.  Fluke injury it seems.    Unfortunate for Altuve but Rhys Hopkins was injured in Spring training and will miss the season.   Maybe he should played in the WBC instead.  Appreciate Joey Votto and his dedication to the Reds and love of the city.  Seems at this point he might want to go for the ring and Philly has a need.

  11. If I were the Colts, I'd still trade down and try to build the O-Line and draft Hooker later. I'd expct they take whatever QB falls to them at 4.  Don't really trust the accuracy of AR for a number 4 pick. AR or Hooker, if you wind up in the Caleb sweepstakes so be it.  He looks special.

  12. Another intense game with Japan walking off in bottom of the ninth over Mexico.  Gonna miss Arozarena in the Final.

Hope the US offense is ready to roll vs Japan.  Not confident in the pitching.

  13. This tournament sure produces entertainment.  US/Mexico matchup would be awesome but have a feeling Japan is going to roll thru to the title.  Just don't know if they had the competition that was on US side of bracket.  DR, PR, Ven., Mexico and US are all impressive teams.

  14. Ugh! The Mexico game showed the pitching staff is a problem for US. Hope that vaunted offense starts putting up 15 per game.  A mercy win tonight vs Canada would be fun.

Japan rocks and ican Venezuela be a sleeper?

All 5 in cuba goes 2-2.  I guess Cuba wins the pool by run differential.

  15. Did Richardson improve his completion .pct at the combine?  I'd probably pass on him at 4 and trade down to get extra picks to draft OL.   Seems the colts should fix the OL.   If a team wants to move up A guy like Hooker could maybe be had later. Every team needs a Hooker on the team.
