I have both a Roku3 and a RokuTV, sales pitch not needed...lol. Was asking about your particular connection because wifi will degrade resolution faster (exponentially faster) than ethernet, as will the length of the cable connecting the Roku to the TV. If the Ultra directly connects, all the better. The fact that you notice a difference in the resolution between the Roku and the internal app is interesting. Never did a side by side comparison. I go slightly overboard when it comes to my home network (and by slightly overboard, I mean using a nuclear missile to kill a mosquito levels). 4 TVs in my house, none use wifi. I have one dedicated coax in to my modem, one directly to the living room TiVo, and one going to an amplified splitter to serve the other 3 TVs. Network wise, I have Cat6 cable drops in every room all connected back to a gigabit switch. My old router is basically reduced to being a wireless access point. Only things that connect via wifi are phones/tablets,and occasionally laptops. I have zero bandwidth issues, needless to say.. Lol.

How is the Roku connected compared to the TV itself? Both wifi, both hardwired or split?

Roku is a device, not a streaming service. Think of it as an internet-connected cable box. It plugs in to your TV, which displays the programming sent to it. Hulu is a subscription service you can access through a Roku device. There are TVs now that have the Roku hardware integrated, so you don't need the separate device. You could use a cell phone as a connection to the Roku if your phone was able to be used as a wifi hot spot. That said, "smart tvs" skip the Roku step entirely and have the Hulu/Netflix/Amazon/etc software pre-loaded so you don't need a separate device, just an internet connection.

Shared logins like that often don't do a full authentication. Just simple password verification through the "host" service. Any additional blocks/verifications are still on the secondary site's end.

Will Hulu let you stream via browser on a tablet, or do they force everything to the app? Never tried spoofing an IP, but assuming it's possible on a rooted device.

Separate Android line/device for streaming. Rooted. Location services disabled. Spoof GPS locator installed. Set geocoordinates to Manitoba or Barbados. Google account name: random character string. Name: "Bob **ckyougoogle" YouTube app disabled. Firefox browser. Adblock Plus. Enjoy YouTube.

I'll normally jump in on tech discussions, but this is something I've never investigated. The city I live in actually has cable tv/internet available as a part of our utilities. I get 100-some odd channels, plus HBO for about $45 a month, and after the first 12 months, no contract. No BTN, but I wind up listening to the TuneIn radio stream more often than not anyway. To me, not worth the hassle for $45 a month. If it was $150-200 a month just for the TV portion like I've seen, then yes, absolutely.

I'm a card carrying member of this club too. I'll attempt anything aside from roofing. Repair wise in the last year, I've replaced an air conditioning capacitor, replaced a leaking water heater expansion tank, painted 80% of the interior of my house, replaced a garage door, and converted all of our exterior Christmas decorations to LED. Currently, I'm in the middle of building a new fireplace housing (electric) /mantle/built in bookshelves for my living room, then installing hardwood flooring. In the past few years, I've added/redone nearly every window/door casing in my house with 4" craftsman-style molding, done board and batten style wainscoting in the kitchen, installed over 1000 feet of Cat6 network cable to every room (phones and tablets are quite literally the only things on WiFi), laid a short rustic stone walkway, and built custom cabinetry/enclosure for the laundry room. A) Saves a crap load of money. B) There's a satisfaction in doing a job yourself, both in figuring out the problem, and knowing it's (in most cases...lol) done right. C) Most importantly, gives me leverage to buy new/upgrade power tools. "Of course I can install that flooring, honey. In fact, with that table saw *cough* thatI'vebeenaskingforforthelast3years *cough*, I'd get it done in a lot less time...."

Luke or Tyler probably pulled that same trick on him when he was 7. Been waiting a long time to pay that one back.

I've always liked Matthews' game. Not a specialist in anything, but solid all around. I think once Vic is near full strength, Matthews would be a hell of a 6th man. Certainly capable as a 2 guard, and has the size and defensive chops to handle being a SF as well (think Kobe in his last few seasons).
