Remember, she's not out of this Olympics yet. She still has the individual all around and each individual apparatus event.

She did not announce that she was done in this Olympics, just that she was done today.

Oh yeah you’re right. I forgot about that. My fault.

I think she should have had her mind right 100% before the Olympics. You're in or you're out.

Again.. I don't think this defines her.

This is coming from someone who had a best friend commit suicide. Doesn't make me a know it all on the subject just giving you background.

I hope there's a comeback story and it'll be the best 30 for 30 ever!!!!

That could quite possibly be one of the biggest Olympic comeback stories in a while. She’s 24 now I think she would be around 27 at the next Olympics and to come back and be dominate again in gymnastics at that age would be quite impressive in my opinion.

So then was she using “mental health” as an excuse because of poor performance? No idea, but sounds like that is possible.

Could be. I just know the way gymnastics works in the Olympics it’s a four person team but you can only send three people per event or apparatus or whatever it’s called and all three scores count. Obviously she was going to do all events and she probably would have been awful and that would have probably cost them the medal because she was in her feelings and would have most likely fallen a lot…you get the idea.

I mean that's fine and all.. but she's not above criticism, much like Andrew Luck for quitting.

She quit. Warranted or not, I have no clue and I'm not here to truly pass judgement because we obviously have no clue of what's going on.

    But.. she quit.

I mean I guess but she was last to go for the team on the vault and she scored the lowest out of all of them which actually put them in the hole they had to climb out of in the first place. With her quitting or pulling out or whatever she did probably actually saved the team getting a medal. If she really didn’t have it today and would have kept falling or whatever she probably would have actually cost the US getting a medal.

Rumor.  I have seen mentioned several times in different areas that some players were only able to meet over Zoom.  The 2 names I always heard were Franklin and Lander.

There was this group of photos that got released as well.  I was able to pick out about every other player except Armaan....

Hiding from the camera?  Completely possible.  Not there but had a good excuse?  Completely possible.  He just seems to be one of two guys that is sending signals that they are out.

So lander is in another group shot of this meeting and Armaan is in that same picture but hidden by Brunk. Some other poster in a different thread found him. I don’t remember which one. Sorry.

So what role can Matta play? It must be a macro level role, but will he have the ability to work at the player level, meeting with recruits on campus.  This may be ideal for Matta because his health limits his ability to do the day to day, but his mind needs to be tapped.

No. They can like go see him but he can’t actively recruit or do any type of coaching.

I agree.  Woodson on his own is a “meh” hire, but bringing in Matta makes it more interesting.  As with most NBA guys, it comes down to the assistants, and having Matta, regardless of the weird title, is a pretty good to place to start... Have to think that won’t be a bad tag team in recruiting.  Wonder if they’ll bring in Fife or Lewis as well.

But I don’t think Matta can go out and recruit. He’s basically a consultant.

Wrote this in another thread. Last year we were 12 - 15. I am fine with them going. It may be a better fit. The new coach may bring in half of his team. Everyone gets a free transfer this year. New coach will bring players without a doubt.

Actually as of right now they don’t. The one time transfer rule hasn’t passed yet. The were supposed to vote in January and they pushed it back again. They are supposed to vote on it at the final four meeting they have every year.

I know they are all hedging their bets and doing what is best for them but you can't help but be a little concerned when you see half the team in the portal.  Just human nature.

I mean I am. I know people keep saying well with the new transfer rule we can rebuild the team. While yes that would be true the thing is that rule technically hasn’t even passed yet. So as of right now the true rule is unless they are a grad transfer or apply for a waiver they would have to sit a year to play.
