  1. The UNC program is different than some of the headlines imply. The agreement only involves players that want to use the UNC logo/trademarks. Participation in the logo/trademark “group program” is voluntary and does not inhibit any player from also cutting their own individual NIL deals. A player can chose to be in the group program and also have their own individual side deals (not using the school trademarks/logos) I’m guessing this will help the entire UNC basketball team, as an example, make some cash while the stars will also cut individual deals for big money. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out. How long will it take for coaches to bring NIL per player data on the recruiting trail? Some uber rich guy like Cook might guarantee 4-5-6k (pick a number) in NIL deals for every basketball commit.
  2. OK, respect your opinion while you call Scott “Putin” for his opinion. Got it. I’m in my 60’s and have been “forced” to get vaccines my entire life. Many were required to be able to go to school but now all the sudden getting a shot for the greater good is somehow communist or a loss of freedoms.
  3. Are you referencing Scott or yourself….
  4. This is great news. When is signing day?
  5. Getting a DL like Curry would be huge but according to his recruiting profile his top 4 are Oregon, Alabama, OSU and Clemson which gives a pretty good idea that he is looking for a national championship type team.
  6. Fantastic. This would give us 2 of the top 5 players in the state. Great to land those kids as opposed to seeing them all go to UM, OSU, ND etc, etc EDIT: According to 247…. in the 15 recruiting classes, from 2004-2018, we landed a grand total of 6 of the top 5 kids from Indiana (6 out of 75). Would be great to get 2-3 a year.
  7. Agree, but they were totally in the toilet but have the 14th ranked class in the country with six 4 stars. Pretty impressive that he has improved their recruiting so quickly but somewhat of a bummer as the East needs a couple of doormat teams.
  8. That’s a bummer but not shocking. That being said he is ranked 45th in the country which is virtually “slumming it” for Duke.
  9. OL and DL are sexy to me ...LOL. Those are positions that were partially responsible for us to struggle for many years. We had plenty of seasons with good skill players but did not win much because of being dominated on both sides of the ball.
  10. Plus 1. In addition to looking at a recruits rankings I look at who else has offered them and am blown away by who we are beating out. We are landing kids with multiple BT, SEC and ACC offers. Back in the Lynch, Hep, Dinardo etc years we had classes in which IU was the only power 5 offer for nearly the entire class. We were beating out Central Michigan etc back then as opposed to Tennessee, MSU, Auburn, etc etc these days. Really excited for the season to start.
  11. I agree. Of course the rankings aren’t infallible but I think they help indicate the odds, not guarantee, of success. It’s easy to find a 5 star that flopped and a 2 star that became a stud but a team with a number of highly ranked players has a much better chance of winning big than a team with a bunch of 2 stars. That being said you can certainly point to coaches such as Allen doing well with less than elite (but rapidly improving) talent while Harbaugh has been horribly underachieving at UM in spite of landing some quality classes.
  12. I admittedly do not have inside ties to the program like you do but I don’t understand how Archie was hamstrung by an “Indiana kids first” mandate. I looked at his offers in his last 3 classes and he offered far, far more out of state players than Indiana players. The issue seemed to be that he did not successfully land many out of state players (not to mention leaving open spots year after year).
  13. I once had bourbanitis and it also sidelined me from a marathon.
  14. 100% happy we are doing this but did I correctly read that we are playing 2 games? I would have assumed an international trip would include multiple teams and 6-8 games.
  15. It’s not just the personality difference. IU football, BEFORE ALLEN, would have been thrilled to hire a coach that had won the SEC 2 of the previous 5 years. From a basketball standpoint Georgia was like “Lynch-type” IU football and they hired the coach that brought back IU, put multiple guys in the NBA and won the Big Ten 2 of the previous 5 years. We complained about his consistency, and 1,000 other things, but the Georgia AD was still able to say “I hired the dude that won the tough Big Ten 2 of the last 5 years”. Try selling Miller and his 9th and 10th place finishes to that exact same fan base. He did literally nothing in his tenure to get another Power 5 school excited. NOTHING. I’m not saying Miller can’t work his way back to a Power 5 job, if he excels at a mid-major level first, but I think he needs to prove himself again.
  16. If he averages 8 boards I’ll be ecstatic and shocked. Last year our top 3 rebounders were TJD (9), Race (6.2) and Franklin (4).
  17. I hope your right. A packed stadium, with most still in attendance in the 4th quarter, would go a long way in helping the momentum continue. I really hope people show up in meaningfully greater numbers this year. Like everyone else I’m very excited with what Allen is doing.
  18. Yep. He has offers from Miami, Florida State and UCF but at this time they are all rated “cool” (not to mention offers from Michigan, Arkansas, LSU, Oregon, Auburn etc....the upward trajectory of who we are competitively targeting is crazy/exciting).
  19. I hope you do post what you hear as I am interested as to what Woodson won’t tolerate.
  20. Not surprised at all, especially after seeing the Fife interview. Fife made it clear they were not done adding players (I.e. someone else was going to leave) and he went on and on about Rob’s potential which led me to believe Rob was staying. We heard how Leal and Galloway were solid with IU, numerous statements from TJD etc, etc but virtually nothing about Hunter or his future with the team.
  21. Prillers only offer was from Incarnate Word and there were a A TON of justifiable complaints. Also a bunch of complaints about the Grant Gelon offer and others.
  22. Good luck to the kid. Maybe he will turn out to be great, and PU struck gold, but we are not exactly the only school to possibly mis-diagnose his talent as his only other offers were Belmont and Appalachian State. Every year some guys fall through the cracks. Maybe he is one of them, we will see.
  23. It is GREAT that we landed him. Top 20 in the nation recruits, in the last 20 or so years ago, in order from the top: Gordon Langford Vonieh Zeller DJWhite Blackmon Yogi Bryant Lander probably would have stayed in top 20 if he did not leave HS early Jeffries was also probably there but he signed a year or two before the cutoff for the 247 rankings I looked at.
  24. No I’m not just looking at the ranking. Making comparisons that he is only 6’ just like Yogi were made and my point is that Yogi was an exceptional, extraordinary 5”11-6’ player. You are in rare air when you are that size and are a burger boy that ends up in the NBA. I stick with, and of course we can agree to disagree, my statement that there are a ton of kids that have gaudy stats across the country. All you need to do is look at first team conference players for dozens of conferences in every state in the country. I agree that Hamilton county sets him apart from many of those conferences but comparing him to a Yogi type player is a stretch.
  25. His offer list is off the charts. It’s amazing who we are recruiting against, and in some cases winning, vs 8/10/12 years ago. I remember debating/posting when some thought we had enough talent to win but I would point out that our recruiting classes would have been ranked 6th or so in f’n Conference USA back then. We have come a loooooooonnnnnggggg way!!!!!!
