  1. Here's a happy story for this thread. Man survives 19 hours at Sea by clinging to a volleyball. https://www.deseret.com/u-s-world/2022/7/16/23220816/man-survives-19-hours-at-sea-by-clinging-to-a-volleyball
  2. 2023 center Arrinten Page scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting with 10 rebounds, two assists, one blocks and one steal in a 61-53 loss at Nike EYBL Kansas City on July 9, 2022.
  3. Have a red-white-and blue golf ball, like the old ABA basketballs! Those were awesome. Allow slam dunks on putts, too.
  4. We have a lot of interchangeable pieces on a team that finished 14th out of 14 Big Ten teams in shooting.
  5. What are JHS's shooting stats in high school? I looked, and found 28% from three for the season. Around 42% overall. Hoping those numbers are outdated.
  6. From your article, 6'8" TJ Power averaged 30 points 10 rebounds over 4 games, and shot 51% from three. Imagine how many problems would be solved if Indiana had a couple shooters like that. Thanks for posting, @Reacher
  7. A museum visitor asked a guard when the dinosaurs died out. The guard answered sixty-five million years and two days ago. The visitor asked how the guard could be so precise. The guard said that he asked the chief curator the same question two days ago, and the curator said 65 million years.
  8. A strong physical slasher, who can't shoot threes (24%). For me, if a player can't shoot from the outside, he's not a guard. I understand the value of such a player. Especially for defense. But I'd really like to sign kids who shoot 45% from three, since it's such an area of need for us. We've been at or near the bottom of Big Ten shooting for 5 years in a row.
  9. Not a TV show, but I LOVED this 9 minute review of the new Top Gun Maverick movie. Spoiler: the reviewer loved the movie, and it shows.
  10. We'll need a student section dressed as TJ Power Rangers.
  11. Hey guys, you're derailing my volleyball thread that has nothing to do with basketball, but which I posted in the basketball forum anyway. Talk about rude.
  12. Woodson has been reading my ongoing posts about how we need shooting. He checks this site every day to find out how I think he should improve the team, then adjusts his recruiting accordingly.
  13. I used to see great shooters play basketball for Indiana University. In fact, for a while, they terrified the entire country. Go ahead and laugh. I know what I saw.
  14. Update: the volleyball coach was fired this week, and the players all had their scholarships renewed. Oops. Sounds like the then-new coach should have cleared the decision first. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/34198422/grambing-state-tigers-fire-chelsey-lucas-wake-newly-hired-coach-decision-cut-volleyball-players-scholarship
  15. A change of pace for this thread. The best part of this 1-minute fireworks mishap is how the father keeps lecturing the kids about how they did it wrong. And how the guy in the chair grabs his beer instead of the baby. Make sure sound is on for this one.
  16. After the shooter acted in Chicago, he drove to Madison, Wisconsin to ditch his phone. While here, he considered shooting at a second parade, as he still had 60 rounds of ammo. Instead, he returned to Chicago and was arrested. Based on where his phone was found, he was within a few hundred yards of me while he was thinking about a second attack, and we were having a parade in our neighborhood with about 600 people.
  17. Corso was right. Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin played in Bloomington many times.
  18. The WSJ article really didn't say. Here's a different source today with speculation of 12 teams. The usual names, including North Carolina, Duke, and Syracuse. Notre Dame, too, of course. https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/2022/07/05/who-join-big-ten-conference-next-here-12-schools/7814281001/
  19. The day NIL became official, Lander said it was time for players to "finally get paid." For playing video games. That was his first focus. That told me a lot about his priorities, and how his spent his time. I thought he was the next great guard for IU. I was wrong.
  20. Didn't think I'd have to explain this, but: I'm just weary of years of look-at-me muscle pics of the IU basketball team . . . and then being horrible shooters during the season. I'd much rather see Tweets about players who hit 95% free throws or 45% 3-pointers. That would be progress. Instead, we get Tweets from our NFL trainer about lifting weights, jumping, and swimming pools. To be clear, I'm impressed with the effort of the players. Not impressed with the results. Last season, Indiana was dead last in conference for 3-point shots made, and free-throw percentage. Last. 14th out of 14 teams. We were 11th in 3-point shooting percentage. Who is in charge of addressing this? How do they spend their time? Do we even have a shooting coach? Shooting is more important to the game than ever. I don't buy the argument that these were Archie's kids, and we need to wait a few years until they're all gone. Some do believe that. But that's a different thread.
  21. Indiana #2. Purdue #9. Michigan #10. Still, this just emphasizes how much we need shooting. There are no more excuses. I'm not convinced splashing around in a swimming pool under the watch of an NFL trainer is the way to do it. We'll find out next season.
  22. 6'9" FLORY BIDUNGA had 27 points and 10 rebounds against Xavier Booker last weekend. Bidunga is now ranked # 6 in the 2024 class. https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals-rankings-week-new-no-1-atop-the-2024-rankings
  23. Wow! Almost $10 million for a 4-star quarterback. Just, wow. When NIL became official, I thought some smart school would buy a starting five for, oh, $1 million per player, of $5 million total. I thought that would bring in the #1 class and maybe a Final Four. Now $25 million may not be enough.
