  1. No...I had already thought about doing a lean-to a year or so ago. Just never got around to it. Had a hip replacement a couple of months ago, so I'm now getting back into the swing of things on a normal basis. Plus, I'm older than dirt, so it takes me a while to do most anything you young pups can do. And I don't have any helpers at all.

And then you have our family heritage...We take a 10 minute job and turn it into 4 days!

Finished up the beam today between the posts (it was only ½ assembled), caulked the ledger board, laid out the rafter placement and then started to figure roof pitch and cut outs for the rafters. Never did rafters before.  Kind of a neat process once you get the hang of it.

The tough part comes next. Cutting all the rafters, and then getting the rafters up to the beam at 9'-6" on one side, and 11'-5" on the ledger board on the other side without killing myself !!

I've entered for decades and never got the call via lottery.

I've tried for the last 10 years, since we've moved down to the Augusta area. Zilch until 2 years ago. I've now gotten tickets 2 out of the last 3 years....practice rounds, but based on what I see on TV during the actual tournament, I think I would rather have practice rounds. A lot more freedom to roam around and see different things, and different parts of the course.

I've had 3-4 people try to get tickets on my behalf for the last 5 years, and they all struck out. I just got lucky all of a sudden...especially for a "local". I think they favor out of towners because of all the additional money they spend in the local economy.

  3. I got lucky and had 4 practice round tickets for this year...then Covid hit. Really thought we'd have "patrons" by this November, but nope !

Kind of backed into being fortunate there aren't fans this year, as we're supposed to have heavy rain on Wed & Thurs, and showers the rest of the week. Would have been miserable to be out there as a fan in those conditions. The grandstands are not covered.

The good news is, that I'm guaranteed my 4 tickets for 2021 Masters.

And you're also color blind !! (LOL)

The only way you'll make that look good is if you put an IU logo under the window about 2'-3' tall.

You should have used that level to run your screws on the bottom plate....even Jessie has that look of "I tried to tell him, but he won't listen" :D

The grade will come up a little bit, but I'm eventually going to put some kind of stone veneer on the foundation.  The house is only 800 square feet, so I wanted my basement to feel like another floor and not like a basement.  I have 9 foot basement ceilings, so I had to have the foundation pretty high to be able to get decent sized windows.  Next year will hopefully be landscaping, so I'll get a window well for the egress window when I do the landscaping.

The gutters were in pretty rough shape, so they're all going to get replaced.  I might be able to transplant some of the trees growing in them!  Also going to take a pressure washer to the soffit to try to clean it up.  If all else fails, I'll throw a coat of paint on it.

Sounds like a great plan, and I love that you're "doing it right". Be proud!

Getting close to having siding finished on one side. Coaching golf will be done this week, so hopefully I'll have more free time coming up.

    Looks very nice Leather...

Are you going to raise the grade and put in a window well when you're done with the siding?

Might as well clean the gutters while you're  "up there" too ! (lol)

I took @Hoosierhoopsteradvice and stepped away from the keyboard...

I turned the corner, literally, so one more piece of metal, then flashing and then the big door.

So you took a ½ hour to put away tools, materials, etc and another 10 minutes to find your phone to take the pic, and then how ever long to set up this picture, and post this. Hell...you could have finished the metal work, wired and insulated the place in less time than that !!

It really doesn't take much skill or tools. In addition to what DWB said ^^^, a good power drill with socket attachment will make attaching all the hardware a breeze.

I recently had a friend convince me to get an impact driver/drill. He told me once you get this, you'll never use your regular power drill...He was right. Reacher is right concerning getting a socket attachment for your drill. An impact driver will likely eliminate the need to hand tighten the bolts after you snug them up.  Harbor freight sells a 3 pc set of socket drivers (¼", 3/8", & ½") for like $5. So no matter what size socket you use, you've got an attachment for your drill.

Thanks.  This is one that does not look overly difficult but I am afraid I don't have the right tools and it will not come out the way I have it intended. Also worried its above my skill level

Patience can replace skill pretty easily. Don't be in a hurry, take your time, spend a bunch of time making sure your corner posts are square to each other, and measure 3 times before you cut once. If you don't have a 6' level, get one, and a good 12" chop saw.

If you're "challenged" on why you need the chop saw, the correct answer is: "You want it done right, or quick?" :D

It is not hard to build your own. Find one you like and take some pics and measurements to copy. Kits bring convenience. Do you have a big local lumberyard that can outfit you with the wood and hardware? Big box stores didn't have the sizes of bolts I needed.

    Ditto that  ▲

And...lumber yards usually carry a bunch better grade of lumber than the big box stores as well, and at the same price or very, very close.

Cut down a dead tree and burned some of it up. Have several more to go.

Always a fun (?) (and dangerous!) job. Looks like you got a good hinge on it. Stay safe!

What's the plan for the stump? Pull it, burn it, let it rot, or termite food?
