Indiana needs to stop calling themselves a basketball school.
Washed up b-ball school perhaps.

Somewhere along the line it seems mediocrity has become the goal.
I see mediocre and mediocrity often in posts, but I respectfully disagree. To say we're mediocre is being extremely kind. Mediocre is painfully average or ordinary. We're just flat awful.

Cignetti could well continue the IU-football suck tradition, but compare his interviews/pressers since arriving in Bloomington with Woodson. CMW has been here 3 full seasons and seems like he has no direction, on conviction, no vision, no plan. It will be a miracle if this offseason puts us in position for next year to be anything other than a catastrophic train wreck.

Tominaga went off. Many of his shots were unreal - well contested. But still, there were also plenty of early looks from 3 where we didn't contest or didn't defend well. There were multiple times where we had guys drifting off and helping (?) off three point shooters toward the ball in the post or midrange with already-covered Nebraska players. Let those guys beat you one-on-one and suffocate any shooters at the arc. So much lack of awareness on this team.

Waiting for the CMW post-game, post-mortem presser. Or will he even show up?

Ware? He gone.
McNeely? He gone.
Mgbako? He gone? (I'm scared.)

Hell, we're lucky to even get a NIT bid. But let's eschew it. Like we're going to own the portal anyway.

Sadly, a fitting end to an abject trash season.

We're consistent on the airball- almost-backboard-shattering missed 3s tonight.

Mgbako is the one guy on this team you can’t lose next year.
He might bolt on principle when he starts looking ahead to what "talent" will surround him next year.

I’ll make sure to contact the local NAIA schools
That airball 3 that about cracked the glass ought to turn some heads.

Ware. 5 shots. 2 pts. How would he survive in the NBA?
Better than here surrounded by negative one million quality guard play and negative one million quality outside shooting to open it up for him on the block.

More bonehead fouls/decision by Reneau.

A lot of Mr. Basketballs did not have stellar college careers. And, then you have Larry Bird finishing 4th. Leal was the best player on the best team in the state.
Should Alford not been a college All-American just because he had a unremarkable pro career?
No argument. Guy just plays like he's walk-on level. Guess that kind of sums up our talent - particularly perimeter - compared to our competition.

It is obvious Woodson can't figure out his w Nebraska is defending us. We look so lost when our bigs get double teamed. Our guys just stand around and don't cut to get open
Clearly no outside shooting is a massive factor. But our guys definitely are making no effort to avail themselves of the ball when the bigs get doubled. No assertive cutting, recognition of where the openings and lanes are in the D. Just watching paint dry out there off ball.

3 pt shooting: IU's achilles heel - "ONE OF THE WORST IN THE COUNTRY". CMW, what are you going to do about that?

Honestly, how did Leal ever win Mr. Basketball? Admire his attitude and contributions as a teammate, but what the hell?

Guys. We could have played our best half of basketball and still been trailing. We're a mediocre team playing against an opponent that IU s shooting out their ass.
And, not to go unnoticed, but Nebraska is playing great D.
Judge the overall season any way you want, but dont overreact to this game. Nebraska would probably be up 10-12 points on Purdue tonight.
Mediocre? I'd opt for trash. Nary a perimeter player that can shoot and - outside Galloway - none that can create anything off the bounce.

Nebraska has more points off just threes than we have total points. 12 makes in a game is more than they average per game, and it's only halftime.
Nebraska with like what? 1/2 our season 3-point output just in the 1st half?

It's really demoralizing how much more talent most of these teams have compared to us.

Hope so. We don't deserve it honestly. This is the shittiest 19-win I've ever seen.

We're not spacing well enough to take advantage of the double team. 4 or 5 possessions ago we had 5 players on the same side of the court. That's the issue.
It's clear we have absolutely no clue what to do with how their defending us - hedging and doubling our bigs inside. The bigs aren't recognizing quickly and others are just standing around when there are cutting lanes you could drive a Mack truck through. Clueless. Terrible coaching and Bball IQ by players.

Coach Mike Woodson Megathread

Looking at the portal guys TDH is reporting we're known to have contacted already. Not saying an individual or two couldn't really blow up here, but the list of programs isn't particularly impressive as a whole - Canisius, Furman, Penn, Drexel. Some bigger programs in the guys to keep an eye on section, but -while early - color me non-plussed. Looks like the downward spiral will continue.
