you could be right, but i think we look at it in a vacuum and it's coincidental that IU WBB is becoming good, and Clarke came through as a generational talent at the same time.

I dont think women's BBall is soaring because of the men's NIL

Agreed it’s not NIL but it is because they play as a team with less egos.  Even Clark assists like a bandit, not just scoring.  I think the team game is way more prevalent in Womens than men’s.  Heck, South Carolina had three girls over 6’3” and they played like a solid unit no matter who was on the court.  I think the men’s game needs more of that and men’s NIL recently is likely making it worse.

Indeed. It’s short sighted money grab. Kids will have no legacy anymore…any connections to an Alma mater etc will be gone because you sold out your schools. Something to be said for staying 4 years and building a lasting legacy and connection to the school that you will carry the rest of your life.

This is why women’s basketball is soaring.  Not just Clark but all of women’s basketball.  Holmes at IU for so many years and Tyra before her.  Chloe staying and even with Syd transferring in and Scalia they built a home at IU.

  3. I would like to see how all these new players play as team first before we start clamoring for deep tournament runs.  This is only one part of the puzzle.  Next is building a culture and getting the team to buyin.  As we have seen from Kentucky recruiting doesn’t dictate success, the coaches job is not over by any means and my confidence is probably less than 50/50 until I see otherwise.  As I always say, first 5-10 games are where we will really see what potential there is.

This is not a thread about the homeless problem in Monroe County.

Keep 'er between the lines folks.

Sorry responded before I saw this and reposted, will nip it now.

edit:  though I will say this is an issue for the president as my daughter at IU who grew up in this town won’t go to certain areas and has heard of issues and tense moments with her friends around town.  It’s all part of safety and security for students.  But you da boss 😅

Couple of things I don't understand about your post.

    1. What form would "shutting it down" take? Are you just saying to tell them to "move along"? Move along to where?

    2. Sending away "non Monroe County folk". To where are you going to send them? Regardless of the "where" part, how does that solve or improve anything? It starts to sound like a "not in my back yard" sort of thing. Sorry if that isn't what you mean.

Honestly, I'm totally stumped as to what can be done to help solve the problems and not just hide them or make them someone else's problem. Wish I was smart enough to figure out better answers.

Send the outside homeless, the majority back where they came from as they are routinely bussed in for free from their home state/municipality.  They need to stop the loitering and panhandling and camps.  Make them stay at no limit shelters until they are sent back home or Portland for all I care.  Then focus on supporting our local homeless that are left.  Shut down the current process, it doesn’t work except to have everyone send their homeless here.

I dont step foot in Bloomington unless its to attend a game. Its pretty much a smaller portland. HARD PASS.

This is a good point, the city is the bigger problem.  Homeless problem continuing to grow and they want more money instead of shutting it down.  Just sending away non Monroe county folk would reduce the greatly.  Already had two people killed in homeless camps in Btown recently and my wife and children have been harassed ion Kirkwod over the years.  Urban deer has been an issue for years yet the bleeding hearts don’t want to kill them yet non lethal options are improve not to work.  They just have let that sit for years and now I see coyotes in my back yard and I live right by the freaking mall in a very urban area.  They also have cookie cutter houses on historical lists that have no business there and want to control details on proposals that cause IU hospital to completely change locations to on campus to not have to deal with them as that’s Gov land they built on.

I will say you not coming to Btown is a shame.  So many great food/bar options that are local and fantastic.  The food and bar scene makes up for a lot.  Or maybe the alcohol drowns my disdain, all part of their plan 😂

It's obvious that TJD is a Woodson, Dolson and BoT shill. Even the Warriors and NBA are in on this con to prop up Mike Woodson. It's probably the biggest con job ever performed regarding basketball in the State of Indiana. Second only to people being conned into believing Purdue could win a National Championship.

I don't think there is much more that can be said on this topic that hasn't been on repeat since January.

While I would be willing to bet 100 to anyones dollar that this current staff absolutely will not be bringing us a natty, it seems the path is set and is what it is so we all might as well find our seat on the bus.

That said I have all intent of retiring myself from participating in this thread for the remainder of the post season.

I would like to remind us all to do our best to keep the other threads on topic and direct all disgruntled discussion of the staff and thoughts on the negative trajectory of the basketball program to this thread so folks can enjoy other topics.

Nah, we are going to land players and people are going to spend from about May to November talking about how great all the dudes we have are and how deep we are and then we find out what the score really is starting in November.  Without even seeing our roster, my guess is borderline tournament team.  We will make the tournament and flame out in the first weekend and Mike Woodson will be praised for doing something with millions of dollars that Bob Knight did with Lynn Washington, Larry Richardson, and William Gladness as his big men....and yeah, yeah, unfair to compare Woodson to a hall of fame coach but that is kind of the point isn't it?

    22-12 is your over/under.

Gladly eat crow if I am wrong.

A lot of variables so hard to predict.  But right now i would take the under and they don’t make the tournament.  Need to see the roster and a sample of games next year before I truly go one way or the other.

There is nothing wrong with playing a round of golf.

Not disagreeing but I get why people could see it as a bad sign.  With losing Liam and not understanding what dead period means people will run with it.  Also it seems He’s spent a lot of time not fully doing his job so people are on edge to see results.
