  1. No, it wasn't. Race did not come close to spending as much time in the lane as Reneau.
  2. Our style of play this year was significantly more painful to watch than the previous two years.
  3. It was in the works because McNeeley wanted no part of the style of basketball he saw when he turned on the Big Ten Network. Let's agree he was probably going to leave no matter what happened with the coaching staff, and that Kansas played it well. But, the door opened in the first place because of how awful our style of play was. I won't even take the easy route and say Purdue. Let's use Illinois instead. Do you think Kansas is able to lure him away from IU if the Hoosiers had the kind of year the Illini had? I don't.
  4. Crean would have been 300 times more successful filling a roster this season than this staff will be. I truly think it has a chance to be as bad, if not worse. IU might be 2023 Louisville level bad next season.
  5. Think Dalton Knecht and multiply that times 10. The top portal targets will go elsewhere. We'll overpay for mid-major talent just to field a team.
  6. I think we already have a thread about that. Stay on topic.
  7. He's watched the games, just like all of us. At some point, he decided whatever money he was getting is not worth it. The fact that he does this right after Woodson is announced to be returning is not a coincidence. If he still thought someone like Bruce pearly could end up at IU, he may have waited for that to play out first.
  8. I've been saving this for about 6 weeks, and I have no connections. But, it's not hard to read the room. IU does not play a style of ball that is going to attract top talent. And, I still have people telling me NIL is going to fix it. It's not. Players will gladly take a few dollars left to play somewhere like Kansas. IU will not make the tournament next year, and I'm not talking the NCAA or even NIT. Indiana, as I said weeks ago, is not going to make the Big Ten Tournament.
  9. My point is not against NIL. My point is that, if I have a chance at a guard who wants to play at IU for a chance to win and to improve as a player versus a guard who is playing for the money, I want the guy who is looking to improve and win. Problem is that type of guard may be reluctant to come to IU based on how the IU backcourt was utilized this year.
  10. And, those players that make it both Reason 1 and Reason 2 are usually not winners.
  11. JHS didn't come from the transfer portal. And, JHS didn't make his decision based o what we saw this season. Two pretty critical factors to my point.
  12. I grew up in Indiana idolizing the Hoosiers. But, if I was a 20 year old elite college guard, and IU offered me more NIL money than any other school, I'm not taking it. As a guard, I would not want to play in this system or for the coaching staff that runs this system. I would leave a few NIL dollars on the table to play in a system where I could succeed, even if pkaying for that team was my childhood dream. Can IU overpay for a 2nd tier guard? Sure they can. But, how much does that help the team? On the flip side, if I'm an athletic big like TJD and Ware, I'm begging this staff to take me.
  13. Is Pepperdine's season over? If not, by announcing now, I assume he cant play in any more games.
  14. I will say this. If IU's recent 4 game losing streak was now sitting as a 7 game losing streak, I think you have to remove 'never' from your statement. What did the two game winning streak before last night do? It guaranteed a non-losing record, and at that point the optics of firing him became murkier. Regardless of what the product looks like on the court (and, honestly, we all have to admit this season has not been pretty), it would be hard to fire a legacy coach who never had a losing season and had been to the tournament 2 out of 3 times. Frankly, if the fan base wasn't already out of sorts from the latter Crean years and all of Archie's tenure, there would not be so much discontent. Bottom line is that I don't believe the administration wanted to fire him, and the recent spurt of better play has give them the 'evidence' they were looking for as justification. All that said, optics or not, I would have been more excited headed into next season with Bruce Pearl as the head coach. That's MY reality, but it is what it is, and I'm still an IU fan, as I have been for over 50 years.
  15. Here's what I've heard through those close to the situation. Buckner was fed up with Woodson early on this season. It started with Woodson's substitution patterns in the exhibition against UIndy back in October. He has been pushing Dolson to make a move since then, but Dolson refused. Dolson did not want to make a move until after the Solar Eclipse on April 8th. Apparently, there are going to be several critical transfers visiting campus on that day, and IU already purchased 3 dozen pairs of protective glasses. Woodson was unable to attend high school sectional games early last week because he was petitioning the NCAA to to give XJ lifetime eligibility. Zach Edey is contemplating a transfer to IU. His theory is that he might get 60-70 touches a game at IU. A petition to rename Assembly Hall 'The Hump' has over 37,000 signatures in just 2 days.
  16. Absolutely loved today's grid. Got a couple of local boys, Terrell from Jeffersonville, and Herman from New Albany. A couple of ex-Reds, Bair, and Roberts, and a couple of forgotten Hall of Famers, Traynor and Herman. Wish I could have done a little better on padres 100 RBI. Score=10
  17. It looks like we WANT to blow this game, but we'll probably fall just short of that goal. I say the final margin is less than 6.
  18. Anthony Leal has not scored tonight, but he has been huge.
  19. If I never see another Xavier Johnson jump shot, I'll die content.
  20. If the Woodson is staying news didn't come out, we probably would foolishly be following your flight thinking you were Bruce Pearl or Dusty May.
