  1. Stupid is not the word I would have used. I will never judge a player for wanting the opportunity to play for the team he grew up following. Would he be better off financially starting a pro career? Absolutely. But, I doubt his family situation would suffer significantly if he put that off for a year. Counting his redshirt year, he's already given 5 to IU. I would hold no ill will towards him at all if he chose to transfer back home. Now, if he chose a different Big Ten school, yeah that would bother me a bit.
  2. I will say this about race. He is one of my favorite IU players over the last 10 years or so. Maybe second only to Yogi.
  3. Absolutely, but the talk of NIL making a difference is probably mute. He can grad transfer to Minnesota and still take advantage of NIL. Might even be the #1 NIL option for the Gophers. They could get him and his dad to do something together.
  4. You may not have seen the post above, but, per Inside The Hall, Race and Stewart are confirmed to be the two giving speeches. So, Race isn't coming back.
  5. I agree with one exception. I don't think Rob passes up a Senior night speech unless he's fairly sure he's coming back. The other 3 are transfers, and it might not mean as much to them if they are unsure. For, Rob, I think it does. XJ is the key though. For IU to be as good as it can be next season, we need him to come back.
  6. Yep. The two most likely candidates. Definitely appears that Rob has thoughts of coming back, which makes me happy.
  7. I think X is the most likely to return. With the way he is playing now, he stands to gain a lot by coming back. And, I have to think the staff would feel a whole lot better with having him back than relying on a freshman PG, no matter how highly rated.
  8. I don't see Stewart coming back. Now, as to whether he gives a speech or not may have to do with how Woodson determines the criteria for giving a speech. If it's just Rob and Race giving a speech, I have to feel he limited speeches to non-transfers.
  9. Same thoughts on the new stadium. The pure experience would have been just as it was in the movie.
  10. Yep. looks like I'm going to need to begin researching what sites are good for information on Cricket.
  11. That trip has been on my bucket list for years. I've put it off and now my son is graduating high school this year. I need to get that done before he has a life of his own.
  12. You're speaking academically, I assume? Regardless, IU has never done what other schools have and had players with less than 4 years athletically in the book give senior speeches. Could that change? Sure. New coaching staff and administration. I'm sticking with my belief that Rob does not give one and wants to come back. If it does end up being Race and Rob, they will not be the only 2 of the 6 who arent back next year. Maybe the opportunity to speak was not given to the single year transfers. I hope that is not the case.
  13. You shouldn't be. It's actually a very difficult burden to bear. Growing up, all I ever wanted was to be like the 'normal' kids.
  14. At least for this week, I think rooting against Rutgers and Purdue is an even better strategy.
  15. I'm a Reds fan, but even I would be willing to give up the traditional 'home opener' for starting on the road in warmer weather. Heck, they truly have not been the MLB opener for the last 20+ years anyway. The following teams should always start the season at home through the first week Milwaukee (Retractable Roof) Arizona (Warm and Retractable) LA Angels (Weather) L.A. Dodgers (Weather) Texas (Weather and Retractable) Miami (Weather and Retractable) Houston (Weather and Retractable) Oakland (Weather) San Francisco (Weather) San Diego (Weather) Blue jays (Retractable) Mariners (Retractable) Rays (Dome) Braves (Weather) That's 14, and you need 15 for a full slate of games. Expansion or new stadium in old location could fix the shortage of natural candidates, or you can just give the final spot to Cincinnati until a better option is available.
  16. It will never happen, but they could chop a week off the calendar at the start of the season to alleviate some of the weather issues by simply scheduling 7-8 Sunday doubleheaders a year like they used to do.
  17. XJ is so much better than Green, it's not even funny. Fist, XJ is a true point guard who actually gets assists. XJ is a much better defender. And, as erratic as his shot selection can be at times, it's still more selective than Green's. Truthfully, green's reputation was built on 3-4 games where he went bonkers. But, if memory serves me right, we lost most of those games. On target XJ wins IU ballgames. On target Devonte was a bright spot on an otherwise dark night most of the time. If XJ comes back, he's a candidate for All Big Ten next season.
  18. Guys, we have a great source of this type of information in this pinned thread on this board. Based on this info, the 2 speeches will be coming from the following pool of 6 players Race, Rob, Kopp, Stewart, XJ, and Durr. http://www.hoosiersportsnation.com/index.php?/topic/8869-hoosier-knowledgebase/
  19. I think RP may feel he still has something to prove. He's not going to go pro in any form, so why not take advantage of the opportunity. I do agree that I think XJ is likely to come back. Not related to your post, but some of the others. TJD is not a senior, and thus should not give a speech. I don't think guys like Oladipo gave one, did they?
  20. Wondering the same. Got a gut feeling we will get one from Race. Hope not, but I think we will. X and Kopp? Maybe less likely? I think Rob comes back.
  21. Personally, I'm glad individual posters in the fan base react differently. Makes for good conversation. Some just need to work a little on not making it personal.
  22. @bluegrassIU @KDB @HoosierFaithful @BGleas @Inequality Can one of you unpin the 2021 thread and pin this one? Thanks in advance.
