But, remember... thats not the issue. I had the virus with no symptoms, again though, not the issue.

The issue was... "you could pass it on to someone else if you areny vaccinated because you can get the virus, but you can still get the virus when you're vaccinated...."

The vaccines don't guarantee you won't get it, but they do drastically reduce your odds of getting Covid-19. And if you do get it, it's less severe.

  2. Let's put it in football terms. Team Virus came on the scene with a new scheme, and they took it to Team Humanity pretty hard. 626,000+ have died in the U.S. to date. 4.17 million have died worldwide. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Team Virus came in with a new scheme that our team wasn't ready for. They built a nice lead on us. We started to play defense with masking and socially distancing, but that only slowed Team Virus down. They scored early and often. Team Virus has a creative and unpredictable coach. He keeps coming up with new variants of his most effective plays, and they keep driving down the field and scoring more points on our defense. We just can't get off the field on third down. Team Virus keeps converting on opportunities.

It took a while, but our guys on the sidelines figured out some things about how Team Virus plays. We've scored some touchdowns with the vaccines in the United States. But if we're going to come from behind to beat Team Virus, we need to play as a team. Everyone needs to know their assignments on defense and execute them, or Team Virus will keep marching down the field. Now, our d-line and most of our front seven have been studying their playbooks and practicing their technique. They are vaccinated, and even mask up if they are in a crowded space indoors with some unvaccinated people present. Team Virus is having trouble running on us now. But our secondary hasn't gotten vaccinated. Our corners and safeties sort of know the playbook, but they decided to play Madden rather than commit everything to memory and practice the plays. They're vulnerable because they haven't been vaccinated. They think, "Hey, I'm athletic. I'll be fine. I kindof know what coach wants us to do on this play..." Right before they bust a coverage and a new variant hits deep.  We are never going to stop the virus until people work as a team to deny the virus more chances to mutate and propagate.

There are people out there who can't get vaccinated because of problems with their immune system. People who are healthy need to take one for the team and get vaccinated to help get Team Humanity to herd immunity. It's the only way we can win. Otherwise, the virus will continue to spread and mutate and kill. We need more team players.

On Wednesday, the N.C.A.A. eased its policies for students and schools elsewhere, a concession that came long after the momentum of state laws had taken hold. The association, rocked by a Supreme Court decision last week that made it more vulnerable to antitrust cases, opted for a largely hands-off approach and will not mete out punishments for players who earn money off their names, images and likenesses.

Gene Smith, an athletic director since 1986 in Division I, the N.C.A.A.’s most prominent tier, said the changes afoot may be the most significant of his career.

“This ecosystem is going to evolve, and we’re going to learn with it, which is, frankly, why I’m comfortable with us taking the guardrails off and tweaking it as we move forward,” said Smith, who is now at Ohio State and views the new system as an opportunity to teach students about the world beyond their campuses.

Another shameful day for the Big Ten, as yet another school knowingly allowed a sexual predator to run free.

Matt Schembechler, Daniel Kwiatkowski and Gilvanni Johnson are expected to discuss the abuse during a news conference Thursday. Their accusations come a month after a report commissioned by the university said Bo Schembechler and other officials were aware of complaints about Dr. Robert Anderson, though he remained at the school for decades.

"Matt Schembechler will set the record straight regarding his own abuse by Dr. Anderson and his father's failure to protect him and other athletes," attorney Mick Grewal said in a written statement.

The younger Schembechler talked with a handful of news outlets late Wednesday and said he told his father he had been sexually assaulted by Anderson in 1969 during a physical examination required to play in a youth football league.

He said Schembechler, then in his first year of his iconic run with the Wolverines, became enraged and punched him in the chest.

"That was the first time he closed-fist punched me," Matt Schembechler told ESPN in describing Schembechler, who adopted him in 1968. "It knocked me all the way across the kitchen."

Discussion topic.  New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are now doing much better than the rest of the country.  Is it because they are social distancing and masking better?  Or. could it be a little bit of the herd effect.  In other words, did they got hit so hard in March & April that the virus is not finding as many available victims.

:Possibly seeing something similar happening with the states that began to get slammed this summer.  Arizona's pace has slowed quite a bit while California, Texas, and Florida are still setting up high numbers.  The difference?  Arizona has a much smaller population than the others..  So, is it possible that 'herding' is starting to kick in for Arizona, while the others still have a ways to go.

I live in CT. People wear masks when out in public. It’s not herd immunity. It’s people doing what doctors tell them to do. Wearing masks works. If people didn’t treat it as an infringement on their rights and just wore the masks, we’d be in a lot better place right now.
