Either Purdue is going to win or UCONN is going to surpass us.
Indiana deserves both. What a dysfunctional mess it has been for 30 years. Thats not one president or AD. That not one sset of BOT's. Thats an entire university, its culture, its mindset and its values.
A deep thorough cleaning of house and covid level sanitizing is needed.

Yeah, but IU will be back…guaranteed!
Maybe? But Nebraska and Miami football thought that too.
But neglect, incompetence, politics and intentionally destroying a program for 30 years leaves a program with a lot of rot and decay.

Congrats to Matt Painter and the Purdue faithful…they’ve endured a lot and put in the work to get here. They run a respectable program and represent Indiana basketball the right way.
Yep. They do it the right way. They represent everything Indiana used to be.

No it won’t. IU isn’t coming back. They don’t take it serious and you can see that with their hires.
I'm torn between them not coming back because of incompetence or because they don't want too.

Sure your not, I figured you out a long time ago
He was right. We are more serious about football now.

Why are you on a IU message board while your team is playing in the final four. Does Purdue not have their own board.
I'm not a Purdue fan. But I do admire what they have built.

Yep, you have every right to be proud of that (and keep repeating it) Congratulations.
Oh, I'm not a Purdue fan. It's an indictment on Indiana University. It took true incompetence on their leadership that continues to this today, for this to happen.
And I don't think Purdue is looking back. You can't just become what you once were again. Just ask Nebraska football.

Purdue wins this game going away, but loses to UConn by double digits.
Keep telling yourself that. Indiana had 30 years to get their act together before Purdue finally put it together.

This is the premier program in the state and big ten doing work.

We should consistently be a top 10-15 team with maybe once every 3-4 years we drop to a team that’s borderline top 25. We should NEVER be below middle of the pack in conference and that should be a down year.
A kid who stays four years should expect to make at least one run for a final four or better.
Be a good coach and recruit well in the region and thus can be expected. If Crean, who’s above average at best did what he did then a good to great coach should accomplish the above
This is it! It should not be this hard.
It's mind boggling how inept this university is.

You do know that you are why we cheer for plastic 6 pack rings in the ocean... Right?
I wonder who the anonymous coach was who said that the last 30 years hasn't had much blue in that blood?

Older article but it's pretty spot on.

This is great. Wasn’t sure which thread to put this in, so putting it here. But I love it.
This sure sounds like what Indiana basketball used to be.

I don't think Indiiana really knows what to do. I guess they are hoping Woodson makes the tourney next year and retires.
It's been so long since they have had a non dysfunctional program(including the last several years of Knight)that they don't even know what to look for or what it looks like.

Purdue always has guys over 7 feet tall. They just signed a 7'3 player.
It seems to really work for them.
-
Gas station version of Shaq has no chance.
Purdue did it the right way, I give them credit. A bunch of Indiana Boys and a 7 foot center nobody wanted.
Painter is a heck of a scout and coach.

They don't need one with Painter coaching.
We have got to get a coach who doesn't have to rely on them just to be competitive.

Purdue doesn't have ONE McDonalds all American. Not one.

We need to start recruiting more 3 and 4 year guys going forward. Build a team, a program, a culture.
Stop chasing 5 star one and done players. If one wants to come fine.

They’re the best team right now, sure; they’re not the premier program
Yes they are. You're just blind from your Fandom, which is understandable.
Purdue is THE program in the entire Big Ten now. Indiana is a has been that needs two NBA players just to make the tourney now and then.
-
At least the big ten will finally win it all now.
Having said that, every person who is responsible for our embarrassing program should be forced to attend the final four wearing purdue gear.

As an IU fan, yeah, this blows.
NGL, personally, I’m thrilled my girlfriend gets to cheer at a Final Four game.
I’mma shut up now before I get tarred and feathered.
Hopefully this rubs Indiana's nose in its own incompetence and they take things seriously.
But I doubt it.

they stuck together after last year and didn’t take the money and run
They have a program and culture. We don't.
