It's interesting

Is this two elite eights in 5 years?

Amazing that the greatest Purdue run ever is 3-3 vs IU with Woodson.
Are you really going to argue the state of the two programs?
Indiana hasn't sniffed an elite 8 in over 20 years.

Purdue is going to win it all I'm afraid. They're just too strong inside and out.
Indiana should take notes on how to build a program. There is no reason why we can't be Purdue on steroids and be strong every year.

And, for the record, when you get called out for breaking board rules, I want you to know I had nothing to do with it. It's not worth my time to make a stink about it.
I apologize for calling you that. I shouldn't have. When I'm wrong I say it.

Are we still talking about Calipari here? That's how this conversation got started, so I assume we are. If that's the case, you should probably realize that Coach Cal does not have many of the attributes you just listed.
We are talking about good coaches who haven't always been squeaky clean. I mean, it's a coach. Not a boy scout leader.

In the grad scheme of life, it's really not that important. Why on earth would I make exceptions to my moral compass just some a team I root for could be better than it is?
Do I want my kids looking back and thinking...
- 'Dad was against cheating unless it was IU basketball." "
- "Dad believed in working hard to get good grades in school, unless it was an IU basketball player."
- "Dad wants us to stay away from drugs, but doesn't think IU players should be punished for it'"
- 'Why does dad talk to us about violence, but turn a blind eye when a IU player sucker punches an opponent or beats up his girlfriend.
If those things meet your definition of 'holier than thou', then I plead guilty and I'm proud of it.
Go cheer for the women. Maybe they are squeaky clean enough for you.
The men need winners, not losers

Has anyone watched the sweet 16 and realized how far away we are? We aren’t even close. We had Gabe Cupps as our starting guard. He wouldn’t crack the rotation on any of those teams. Our backcourt talent needs a massive upgrade. From a coaching style it’s basically all 4 out 1 in around a skilled BIG. Houston and Texas A&M at one point had all Guards/wings on the floor. Zero bigs. We play 2 guards and 3 forwards. The whole thing needs a complete 180. Pearl would have us competitive on a national stage in 2 years. This program is a disaster at the moment.
Shows what you know. Our university, donors and fans are happy with our program. In fact, they are so thrilled that they are trying to BUY him a team to make the tourney next year.
You don't have to recruit, coach, you are such an amazing coach that we will buy you the players.

We a women's basketball school now.
-
The holier than thou fanbase we have is the worst. Couple that with our Administration and there is no wonder why Indiana is a laughing stock.

There is a real chance Calipari becomes available. It would be malpractice not to pursue him.

Beilein didn't retire...He took the Cleveland Cavs job...
Ok but wasn't it late and all the candidates were taken already, leaving Michigan in a bind?
I guess it doesn't matter. They got their guy this time.

Wish Dusty May nothing but the best of luck. He's one of us...and if/when the time comes that the job is open if it means as much as we think it does leaving Michigan isn't going to be that big of a deal.
Regarding May though. First thing I'd do is meet with the academic folks. See Terrance Shannon Jr situation.
He's not leaving Michigan for Indiana. Good grief.
We had our chance.

He also fired Howard, something Indiana can't seem to get through their minds that needs to happen. The whole Indiana athletic administration and BOT needs a complete overhaul. In my opinion we need a 40 yard dumpster to get rid of all the garbage that has accumulated.
You are correct. It needs a complete tear down. It is archaic and political.
I've never seen such a lack of urgency, lack of business sense and general idleness and laziness in a university athletic department.
It truly is stunning and sad. Arguably the worst athletic department in the entire B1G.

Yes. Warde Manuel hired Howard.
Didn't Beilein retire suddenly late , leaving them scrambling?

Hahaha. Michigan fans want their AD fired and is generally viewed as being incompetent at his job. Their fans are split on Dusty being successful or not. But Warde Manuel has a track record at Michigan of being very slow at making decisions, see their hockey coach contract expiring and sitting on a report with no action for 6ish months before the media got it and he had to do something. He let their baseball coach go, his handling of sign stealing in football was not well received for not backing Harbaugh when the NCAA had the Big Ten come after him bc NCAA rule wasn’t technically broken.
And yet they just won the football national championship in football and hired the basketball coach we wanted.

And…… Michigan steps in. I’m surprised, but this is a good hire for Michigan.
But is it as good as Archie Miller or Mike 'I'm the head coach' Woodson?
Mgbako is the last remaining decision

I'm afraid this is the year. They have a fine program.
Hopefully, Indiana will stop playing politics and games and get serious about its basketball program.
