IMO…It all starts with the PG and they can’t F around. The staff needs to pull in a good, dependable, PG as early as possible. Without a guard capable of running the offense, the staff will have a hard time pulling in the other pieces.

I think it's more than fair for fans to be critical to what we are seeing with our own eyes. It's fair to have pessimistic opinions about the future of this program if we don't have any recruits coming in with multiple departures. Woody should own this and not direct his short-comings onto the fans. However, I think Woody's anger is moreso directed at influential people leaking many untrue rumors in the span of days, which in turn ratcheted up the vitriol from fans. It's hard to not assume that this was a coordinated and savage act. I wonder if Woody is looking at these events like an attempted coup. It was unsuccessful, and now he's puffing out his chest. But as a coach that struggles in communication to the media/fanbase, he's having a hard time distinguishing who specifically he's mad at. He made the mistake of making a blanket allegation. I hold two beliefs: he's not ultimately the guy for the job BUT he was also done dirty this last week.

If it’s them against the world then so be it. Whatever brings them together to win games. I hope they unite even more in the B1G tournament and win the thing. It sure beats watching this teams fall asleep for long stretches. Maybe this is Woody’s version of taking the heat off the players, like how Knight used to do. I don’t know. Woody is going to be back next season and he’s got two tall feats: hitting a home run in the portal and then getting those players to gel. I don’t think that this will work, but I hope he proves me wrong.

Swimming is an individual sport, so individual development is all that matters. Thus, you’re analogy is not apt. In team sports individual success doesn’t always correlate to team success on the court, field, ice, etc. In team sports individual success can also be dependent on the athlete being put in a place with in a system to succeed. We don’t have a ‘system’ in swimming. So, for me, an evaluation of an athlete’s development is way more black and white.

I think Miller could’ve been utilized way better. I don’t see much development of Gunn and Banks and I don’t think they are given much of a chance to succeed because this offense isn’t good for wings (and 4’s playing the wing). Tamar Bates didn’t develop here, but is developing at Mizzou. MM has a ton of talent, but nothing he gets comes easy. With McNeely, the writing was on the wall. And if you look at successful teams in CBB they are stacked with athletic wings who are play makers. I will admit Woody has has some success at developing players at the ‘top of the pyramid’, but has been unsuccessful at developing the players who build the foundation of the program. And without any foundational pieces, It’s only a matter of time until everything from a systematic standpoint will begin collapsing. That happened this year. I don’t see it being any better next year because the cupboard is now almost complete bare.

I agree. Honestly, I’d rather one boycott the game if they are mad. A half empty Assembly Hall would prove a greater point.

Yeah. On campus visit. The only one I can remember for sure visiting was Ledlum. There was a lot a buzz about him coming in but after he visited, things went silent.

Did this go over my head but do we know what transfer recruit he was referring to? Ledlum? Knecht?

I don't think this happens, but if it does then Woody's not coming back.....he just can't.

We were so hungry for defense at the time, we forgot about every other aspect of the game. And worse, the defense we got was satisfactory at best.

I mean, we only did because Malik was in foul trouble, right?

I’m afraid the best case scenario for this decommitment is also a double edged sword. Best case - Liam was told that Mgbako is coming back. BUT that’d mean MM will be playing the 3 again and Woody will be on the hunt for another starter at the 5 in the portal.
