  1. Just listened to Inside The Hall and the guest had some pretty good observations about TJD. (sorry if these thoughts are being repeated) - He seems to be much more of a calming presence on the floor. He's flexing less after dunks too. Even after mistakes, he's smiling and huddling the team together to get them regrouped. Maybe Woody's 'zen-ness' is wearing off on him. - TJD is getting a lot of touches, but it's not in his hands for a long time. It seems like he's making quicker decisions vs. not letting the defense regroup (like last year) as he'd be backing his guy down for 5-10 seconds before making his move or passing the ball back out.
  2. I don’t doubt the frustration, but I still want to know what percentage of tickets were available for that pre-sale. How many were pre-pre-sold (or held) to stubhub…..to corporations…to Capital One (who endorse Swift). Perhaps next time make tickets non-transferable. And perhaps that will clear up some website traffic from the thousands of ticket brokers with multiple accounts who are not interested in going to the show…just turning a profit. She is one of the very few artists who has the power to be a part of the solution.
  3. Music related…. I was tasked with trying to find Taylor Swift tickets for my wife, daughter, sister in law and nieces. Haha. Tall order. I’m no dummy. I knew there was a slight chance of finding any, let alone 6 right next to each other’s. I still find it funny (but welcome) that all the Swifties are up in arms about Ticketmaster. I remember Pearl Jam fighting the good fight back in the 90s. Anyway, I think it would be interesting for her to answer questions about about her relationship with Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster testified in front of Congress that they protect the artists, venues, promoters, labels and brokers by being the ‘bad guy’. Everybody has their hands in the cookie jar and as usual the consumer gets screwed. But nobody (all media outlets covering this hilarious outrage) are asking the simple questions: who dictates the service charges (they were 20% for the Swift concert) and why can you buy tickets on Stubhub and other ticket brokerages BEFORE the pre-sale? How many tickets were released to these brokerages and/or what percentage of tickets were released to the general public? There is the valid opposing argument of supply and demand: if she can get much for tickets then that’s what they are worth. And I agree. But what I don’t like is that artist are hiding behind Ticketmaster when they are complicit because they are all making money on the service charges and get a cut of sales on the secondary market. Them, the organizers and the labels determine service charges (it says so on Ticketmaster’s site). Artists want to be able to throw up their hands and say the have no control. I say bullshit. They want to say ‘we are trying to make these tickets affordable for our fans’ when they benefit from putting ticket prices out of reach through these hidden ways. Bieber’s team even had the gull to reserve huge sections of seats for his shows and then use ticket brokerages to sell them at obscenely inflated rates. Artists can make tickets non-transferrable while working with Ticketmaster, which will drastically reduce the gobs of tickets getting sucked up by brokerages like stub hub, but they don’t. Hmmmm….I wonder why? Or artist can do what Pearl Jam does, allow ticket exchanges BUT cap service fees at 5% and do not allow them to be sold over face value. (I’m also not saying Ticketmaster is blame free in all of this. They built this cesspool. And the fact that they charge an additional fee for you to print the ticket out on your own computer makes me want to punch them in the nuts.) Happy Friday.
  4. Thanks for bumping this thread because I was thinking about posting about Inside Man on Netflix. Great show. Great characters. Great acting.
  5. They should use untappd instead of beer advocate.
  6. College basketball is still a guards game, but after watching Sissoko, Tshiebwe and Timme take over in those games, I can’t help but wonder how well they’d do against our 3 rotating big men. If anything we have 3 guys who can draw fouls against opposing bigs. Kentucky lost that game because Tshiebwe fouled out.
  7. They’re $.49/pound at the local store here!
  8. I just had yakisoba from Costco - prepackaged and so good Our staples: whole bean coffee rotiserrie chicken batteries light bulbs windshield wipers kirkland organic OJ - not necessarily cheaper but so good pre-cooked bacon - tastes great and is only like $12-$15 for the equivalent of 3 packages If you like margaritas, Cointreau is a steal there (you can get a gigantic jug of Kirkland tequila for $20 and it’s not horrible) You can save a couple of bucks on bottles of wine. Tuscan style pork tenderloins (pre-cut and marinated pork) Orgain protein (when on sale) You can sometimes find really good vacation packages I just got a LG stick vacuum today for $100 off (25% off - when they have deals, they have deals) and on Black Friday they have Bourbon County for $8 a bottle! (Limit 3) I love Costco if you can’t tell.
  9. This season definitely feels different. Different from the last 2 years because you could see flaws in our ‘easy’ games that ultimately haunted us later in the season. Different than Crean’s hot start in his last year because that teams defensive struggles were still apparent…even in those wins. Our weaknesses that needed to be addressed, shooting, transition, movement and wing play, seem to be vastly improved. These are the question marks that kept me from getting too excited. We’ll learn a lot next week. IF this is the team we are hoping it to be, we should control the Xavier game. Yes, they are good, but we are better. We have veterans who should be able to go into a hostile road environment and not get rattled. I so badly want this team to have that 2012 team swagger and confidence: know that they are better than their opponents and play like they are better than their opponents - embrace the moment and impose their will. The skill and talent is there, the mindset must follow.
  10. He needs to keep those fouls under control. He was the king of ticky-tac could last year. He definitely looks great tonight.
  11. Started late. Just caught up. One beer down. Feelin’ fine.
  12. I think we are just a bit jaded because our last two 5-stars weren't instant contributors.
  13. While exhibitions can be a tough predictor of things to come, I think we saw just about everything we could hope for this past week. - 2 (possibly 3) Freshmen look like they will be able to contribute meaningful minutes. [check] - Shooting appears to be better. Sure they are playing against inferior defenses and are more comfortable, but shots are going in. [check] - JHS. This kid seems to have a high ceiling. I knew he was good, but I’m not sure I expected him to be this good. Our missing piece has been a play maker for so many years. X started to show glimpses last season, but JHS seems to be a guy who won’t be sped up in the moment. We need that Keegan Murray/Ayo/Branham type killer. I can’t check this box yet, but if JHS is that guy, watch out B1G.
  14. I, for one, think Logan should start. Double/Double machine! 😎
  15. You son of a…… 😆 Do we really need to have this debate aaaaaaagain? 😆
  16. I took that class and Jared Jeffries was in it. Jared Jeffries actually mentioned it in a podcast. The class was great but it was on Friday morning and you couldn't skip it because he'd have quizzes. I was hungover for most of those Friday classes and never learned my lesson because Thursday night was the best night to go out! Priorities. David Baker always reminded me of Leon Phelps, the Ladies' Man because he talked just like him and referred to cool people as 'cats'. A true jazz legend. Would have loved to share a glass of Courvoisier with him. haha.
  17. They moved into it. A lot of the misunderstanding is simple math. haha. We primarily use it to pay for neighborhood upkeep: landscaping/lawncare of common areas, fixing sidewalks, etc. The HOA is very minimal when compared to other bigger communities with clubhouses and pools. We carry over maybe $5-$10k in reserves in a good year. So people who don't look at a budget or who aren't good at math are asking: "with all the money I pay(only $33/month x 190 homes) why can't we have a pool?" And when they learn that we can't afford it based on how the current dues are set, they automatically think somebody is embezzling money.
  18. Funny story that had me asking what has social media done to us? Somebody created a neighborhood facebook page with good intentions. After all, we are neighbors and should respect each other. A few disgruntled boomers wrote 2 different posts complaining about the HOA. Without any knowledge of how the HOA board works or seeing a budget started complaining in a degrading manner, accusing the board of embezzling funds, etc. FYI, the board consists of neighbors volunteering their time. And not one of these posters knew the people on the board and/or approached them (or the management company) with their concerns. Do people not know how to communicate (to their own neighbors!) in a respectful manner any more? Why do they automatically think the worst or something sinister is going on when it doesn't match up with a perception they convinced themselves of without any evidence? (Again, a quick look at the budget, which every person in the neighborhood receives - explains in detail the revenue we collect and the expenses it's used for). It's like social media is conditioning people to be a tough guy from the safe place, that is behind their keyboard.
