  1. A friend of mine went back and had an AMF - she said it was so disgustingly sweet that it made her teeth want to fall out. Haha. Oh, back in the day - the sweeter the better. I remember thinking Oliver Wine was remarkable. šŸ¤®
  2. Iā€™m not giving the NCAA any breaks because they refused to adapt when the writing was on the wall, before and after, the NIL was passed. I do wonder: are the NCAAā€™s hands tied? With each state having different legislation, can they successfully write or enforce ANY NIL rules?
  3. ā€¦.wait, noā€¦.I definitely donā€™t want to to see that.
  4. Sure, he couldā€™ve transferred to another school and risked making half the money he is now.
  5. All of the above. šŸ˜† more guitars is better than less guitars.
  6. I'm a fan of putting a humbucker in for the bridge pick up because the single coil sounds too harsh (it needs a little more meat) for my liking. That, and I don't play jangly country. But I'd never remove my single coils in the middle or at the neck because then why have a Strat? To me, that's sacrilegious. haha. Those are what make a Strat sound like Jimi, Stevie, John Frusciante, etc. If you want want a Slash tone just ditch the Strat and get an Epi Les Paul. You won't get that by putting in all humbuckers in Squire Strat. And by the time you buy decent humbuckers and get them installed you're halfway to the price a new guitar anyway.
  7. Yep. Now I'm missing my guitars. My 2 favorite ones are in the shop getting some fret work done.
  8. Glad that you were big enough to get help if you needed it. I can't imagine it's an easy thing to admit to yourself. I hope you are doing well and stay well. Hurt is one of those sad Am songs. I'm not sure it's technically in the key of Am, but it starts there. Am - C - D. Other sad songs that start in Am that I can think of off the top of my head are Stairway to Heaven, One by U2 (Am-D-F-G), Don't Cry by GnR (Am-Dm-G-C), etc. I'm sure more will come to me after I hit send. ...oh and Unforgiven. (an easy one to play) And speaking of Metallica, a great Em song that's great to play on guitar is Nothing Else Matters. If you need any help or have guitar questions let me know. It won't be a bother because I always love to talk about guitar.
  9. ....a music theory lesson in 2 minutes: Think of the notes in a circle A through G. Most pop/rock songs use the I, IV and V chords because they are major chords. So if you're in the key of C (or you start in C), the I (first) chord will be C, the ii - Dm, the iii - Em, the IV - F, the V - G, the vii - Am, the viii - Bm. The joke you see on t-shirt like linked below is in the key of G, because those are easy chords to play on guitar. Throw in a iv minor for some depth and then have some fun. BUT, you're song seems dark and sad. Most sad songs are in minor. So following the same rationale as above, just flip the minors and the majors (I, IV and V now being minor chords). If you're looking for easy guitar chords to finger then stick with the key of Am (see below).
  10. I was listening to an interview with Walsh and the recruiting coordinator is not an easy job. Walsh compared it to a entry level sales job, to which you are tasked with cold calls. I'm not sure a guy like Zeller is going to want to do that after making millions in the NBA. The position demands somebody who is hungry and has an excellent work ethic. They need to love what they do. And on top of that you need somebody with an infectious personality that can build relationships. This is definitely more than a 'title' for a legacy of the IU program.
  11. Have you read the article? HAHAHA. Papas is the agent trying to get more money for Wong on the rationale: BUTā€¦ā€¦GET THISā€¦..Papas is the same agent who negotiated Packā€™s deal! The balls on this guy! https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/33823826/nil-agent-says-miami-hoops-star-isaiah-wong-enter-transfer-portal-nil-compensation-increased
  12. Agree. Even tougher, the NIL for the most part is (and should be) out of a coaches control. I think the extent of their conversations with recruits and players is saying: ā€œyouā€™ll have a lot of NIL opportunities at State University.ā€ Of course theyā€™ll need to maintain a lot of relationships that are indirectly tied to major endorsers, but they do that already. I think the ā€˜burnoutā€™ will result from a loss of control and stress of the unknown happening every single offseason. I think it also invites interference from rich boosters who know nothing about basketball and want player X because they saw a great highlight video on YouTube. I think now more than ever, a great program culture and a strong AD who can can set boundaries (between the program and boosters) are needed.
  13. Kinda my point. Their only leverage really is discontent or departure. Or it will only take a few companies with a ā€˜wink and nodā€™ deal to get burned when a player takes their money and runs. The first couple of years will be messy because a hierarchy hasnā€™t been set. There will be a lot of trial and error, lessons learned and best practices established. If the Pack deal affects Miami negatively then similar deals in the future may need to be reevaluated. Water will find its level.
  14. Iā€™ve thought from the beginning that a market to establish a playerā€™s value will emerge. If you over pay, these may be the consequences. One could only hope that these kinks will work themselves out. I think that players know their is a hierarchy and can accept if a player who is better than them gets more endorsements, but when a new player is brought in and makes double than an existing player whoā€™s just as good? The result may interrupt team chemistry with resentment and possible departures. Oh, this might get good.
  15. Iā€™ve never laughed so hard in a theater. I couldnā€™t breathe when he got in a fight with the harry fat guy.
  16. Ahhhhhh. I thought that May 1st was the deadline for transfers to declare where they are going. If I'm now understanding it correctly, the deadline is for players to grant a transfer from their existing school without penalty. Well, it will at least tell us that our roster is set, with the exception of TJD (and his potential replacement). I don't imagine Woody will be pushing anybody out after the May 1st deadline.
  17. Some news will have to drop anytime nowā€¦ā€¦
  18. You gotta do the double dip. Cheese AND THEN ranch (and not the other way around because it gets messy). Seriously, try it.
  19. Exactly. Again, it doesn't matter if one thinks a scholarship is or isn't fair compensation. 'fair' is an opinion. And opinions are about as good as toilet paper. Example: I think it'd be fair if I get paid $1 million dollars a year. I don't think it's fair that my d-bag neighbor get's paid over minimum wage because he's a jerk. "Fair" is meaningless. If a player is only worth the scholarship they get, then so be it....the market will dictate that (not fans on a message board or a university). If a company wants to pay an athlete more to endorse their product, they don't need to consult us on whether or not it's 'fair'. A player is worth what they are worth. If they're value is built on unproven hype, then that risk is on the endorsing company. Worth is determined on what somebody is willing to pay you. The macro issue that keeps getting missed is that Colleges don't have the right to cap that, as determined by the Supreme Court. While the NBA can cap salaries, they can't cap endorsement deals because they think their players salaries are high enough already. Colleges can't cap outside earnings of their students on academic scholarships. Why? Because they have absolutely no business injecting themselves into those dealings. The NCAA's purview of amateurism is not limitless. Again, it does NOT matter if high school athletes have alternative paths that include compensation (g league, europe, etc.). The NCAA's past enforcement of an athlete's NIL is unconstitutional; they are trying to control aspects beyond their purview. This should be a good thing! For once, government is putting an individual's right before an institution's. This is why NIL had almost unanimous bipartisan support. This is more important than Miami stealing Pack away from Purdue. IMO, we're missing the bigger picture.
  20. Exactly. Pre NIL: What programs had the most money? Who had the best facilities? Who had the highest paid staffs? Who had the most resources? Who had the best athlete housing?
  21. I have no info, but my guess is the offer is contingent on TJDā€™s decision.
  22. I think thereā€™s a lot of over-reacting going onā€¦.youā€™d think that college sports will cease to exist in 10 years. Just like the transfer portal, things may take a bit to settle in, but Iā€™m honestly not concerned about it that much. Many keep on saying that blue bloods like Kansas and Kentucky will have an unfair advantage (although theyā€™ve already had an unfair advantage for the last 20+ years, but that is beside the point), but look at the schools where the players with the highest NIL deals have landed: Tennessee State and Miami. Not exactly basketball powerhouses. Heck, I believe the highest NIL deal in college sports belongs to that LSU gymnast. I really wonder how much of this contempt is coming from deep rooted personal opinions about what a kid ā€˜deservesā€™. Envy that a ā€œkid who hasnā€™t done much in life other than having the god given ability to play a sport is going to make 10 times as much as you when youā€™re been working your ass off for yearsā€. Well, too bad, so sad. Ironically itā€™s our interest in college sports thatā€™s now going to pay their salaries. Our interest in sports makes them valuable. Us, the guys posting on message boards.
