Boiler Sam
Good morning IU people - Purdue grad here. Heading to my first concert at the Bluebird soon, and was looking for any tips you guys might have as far as parking, nearby places to grab a relatively quick bite to eat before the show, etc.
dbmhoosier
There’s a Taco Bell across the street. Always worked for me when I was leaving the Bird at 3 am. 1

Also lots of great ethnic places on 4th St if you’re willing to walk a few blocks. Edited February 17, 2020 by dbmhoosier 1

BEKA
There are are a couple of large parking garages right by the Bluebird. I haven't tried the Village Pub yet, but I've heard good things. Edited February 17, 2020 by BEKA typo

Social cantina is good and only a couple blocks away.
Billingsley99
Go to the Irish Lion and grab a yard of Guiness for me. Been 20 years since I have done that. I dont drink but when I do it's a Guiness!! Your question will take many of us back in time to great memories. The Bird is legendary for sure
dbmhoosier
Why are you worried about parking? I’ve never seen anyone leave the Bird before and still be legal to drive. 2

As a longtime Indiana taxpayer, as well as the spouse of a public school teacher, I sort of feel like I have a stake in all our state schools. Plus one of my daughters has expressed in interest in heading south instead of north for college...

Sorry it was just too easy.😀

bronkonagurski
Is the Video Saloon still there? That was my watering hole in my last couple of years at IU. Always followed by a trip to the Taco Bell afterwards.

An IU grad I work with mentioned The Vid when I told him about my visit to the Bluebird. He said the name dates back to when they used to show movies in the bar, which seems like an interesting concept.

I never really understood that, lol.
Billingsley99
Used to work at the Ponderosa and would run down to the Vid to catch the end of many IU games.
