I don’t often get inside info (which is to say, pretty much never) but I do have a solid source on this and just talked with him, it will be Jordy in this recruiting coordinator role. Stakes are low here since it’s not a recruit so I don’t feel the risk of being skewered if wrong but 99.9% take it to the bank on Hulls returning12 points

Maybe they are giving the job to Leal and take him off scholarship to open up a roster spot.9 points

So it appears Coach Walsh is the point man with Trent. In today to see him at Heritage. Given what Gabe Cupps family had to say about Walsh....I think he's the perfect guy to be the lead on this one.9 points

I still think we're going to see a bunch of longer tenured college coaches start to leave the game. I don't mean guys like Boeheim in their 70's, those guys leaving are inevitable, but I mean some coaches in their 50's and early 60's. Why would anyone want to deal with not only having to re-recruit your team every year but also have to do it based on how much NIL money you can get them? Being a coach at this level was already hard enough. I'm not saying players don't deserve money, just saying why would a coach want to deal with that if you're at a level where you could maybe go to the NBA and coach or move into broadcasting?6 points

We actually most likely won't find out. Even if a player transfers after the 5/1 date we won't know what really happened. We'll have posters make assumptions as if they know and complain that IU did something wrong, but that's all it will be, assumptioms and message board fodder. We won't know how it actually went down.6 points

but... I like it (that they are having problems)... We won't be ran this poorly. Let them all self-destruct and we continue to navigate this in a well-planned business way. Just how I'm seeing it. Looking how things could benefit IU.4 points

I was listening to an interview with Walsh and the recruiting coordinator is not an easy job. Walsh compared it to a entry level sales job, to which you are tasked with cold calls. I'm not sure a guy like Zeller is going to want to do that after making millions in the NBA. The position demands somebody who is hungry and has an excellent work ethic. They need to love what they do. And on top of that you need somebody with an infectious personality that can build relationships. This is definitely more than a 'title' for a legacy of the IU program.4 points

Have you read the article? HAHAHA. Papas is the agent trying to get more money for Wong on the rationale: BUT……GET THIS…..Papas is the same agent who negotiated Pack’s deal! The balls on this guy! https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/33823826/nil-agent-says-miami-hoops-star-isaiah-wong-enter-transfer-portal-nil-compensation-increased4 points

If the rule really is that NIL deal can't be contingent on attending a particular school, then the NCAA need to get on this Ruiz guy/Miami quickly and make a statement. I know they won't, but geez you have to put some guardrails on this thing.4 points

Disagree. Someone else will emerge for him that wants an impact player to put them over the top. Wr are seeing it play out in the job market right now. Employers are paying top dollar to bring people in, which makes their current employees look around because they aren’t being treated as well, so they find someone else to pay closer to what they deserve. Companies that aren’t bringing in top talent because of some antiquated view about the employer/employee relationship are getting left behind by those that will value the employee.4 points

Mike Woodson and Tom Allen at Huber's on May 25th. https://www.newsandtribune.com/sports/college-sports-mike-woodson-tom-allen-coming-to-hubers/article_268c9f14-c761-11ec-8754-dfc331fcab86.html3 points

I’ve thought from the beginning that a market to establish a player’s value will emerge. If you over pay, these may be the consequences. One could only hope that these kinks will work themselves out. I think that players know their is a hierarchy and can accept if a player who is better than them gets more endorsements, but when a new player is brought in and makes double than an existing player who’s just as good? The result may interrupt team chemistry with resentment and possible departures. Oh, this might get good.3 points

I hear what you all are saying and can agree that making those comments publicly is somewhat tone deaf and he probably said it awkwardly. With that said, he's not comparing his salary to ours, he's not saying he can't eat off of $16M, he's comparing his salary to the other top WR's in the league. $16M would slot him in as the 16th highest paid WR in the NFL and really 17th because Cooper Kopp is about to get paid too.2 points

For those not very familiar with the role of a recruiting coordinator (like me), I found this article interesting: https://www.mlive.com/sports/2018/12/why-tom-izzo-hired-michigan-states-first-recruiting-coordinator-this-season.html It's several years old, and talks about Michigan State's decision to add this new position to their staff, and what the job entails.2 points

Yep. Pet peeve of mine. They forget where their salary comes from. Middle class families who may have to gulp at what they pay but they prioritize it on their balance sheet. Or when they buy an expensive jersey for their kid.2 points

Where can I sign for a 'low' salary offer of $16mm a year? How can athletes be so clueless. Just say 'I enjoyed my time in Tenessee and look forward to my future in Philly.2 points

Depends on what you mean as "ambassador on staff"? Recruiting Coordinator isn't an ambassador position, it's an actual real job. Would it be great to have Zeller present around the program after he retires? Absolutely! But, I doubt he'd be good at or have any really interest in an entry level position that is all about grinding the recruiting scene.2 points

I'm the same way with J.R. Konieczny, who went to Notre Dame. I thought he was perfect tall sniper for IU. Really wanted him to sign with us. He averaged 1.6 points per game. He may end up being great. We'll see. He did shoot 5 for 6 from the field for the season, for 83%. I thought Matt Cross was perfect for IU, too. Actually, I have a long list of guys I hoped would sign with us, but didn't, and it was for the best.2 points

Ha! If this was true then maybe we could start a fund for NIL for hot girls to come to IU and lure all-Americans here lol. That said I can’t believe a star on campus wouldn’t want his girlfriend to be away so he can sample the local coeds where he is.2 points

I sure do. LOL One time I bought her some jewelry and the girl behind the counter said that was so nice of me to buy those for my daughter. I replied, Yep, and I slept with her last night. I think she realized at that moment that she was my wife not my daughter. Another time we stopped at a bar/restaurant just south of Irons, Michigan. When we went in I told Susan I had to go to the bathroom. While I was gone the waitress and said to Susan, I have to ask you, husband or father?2 points
