  1. All i said was they are more enjoyable to watch. I don't post about them, I gave my thoughts on teams in Indiana that are more enjoyable to watch. I expected push back because I put PU on there but they play good basketball and I like to watch good basketball. No offense taken and men's play is what gets them drug through the mud. Maybe I am too old school in my thinking but if you don't want people to say those things then shut them up with your play. Unfortunately our team supports what many fans are saying and have done little to nothing to change that. IMO the women should be applauded for what they are doing and it might not pan out to a championship or a final 4 but I don't think we are being too critical on the mens team either. Playing basketball at Indiana comes with a lot of criticism if its not good but with even more praise and accolades when it is.
  2. You cannot win on a consistent basis shooting as poorly from 3pt and FT as this team does. Can they get hot for a game and win one they shouldn't of course and would I be surprised heck no. To do things they have not done all year up to this point is unrealistic. They are what the record says they are a poor shooting team with no real leadership. Some good to outstanding at times post play. At times a good defensive team but for the majority of the time a poor perimeter defense. A much improved MM but outside of he and MR who is any better today then they were 3 months ago. The 8th poorest 3pt shooting team in the country is not going to make the tournament in this day and age of basketball.
  3. Probably not but nice try. they have lost twice this year t0 2 teams in the top 10. I said more enjoyable to watch and a better brand They make more 3's per game than the men's team attempts but if putting them down makes you sleep better at night go right ahead and knock yourself out. 1 of the IU basketball teams will be in the NCAA tournament and I would bet everything I own its not the Men's team
  4. Been an IU fan for 44 years and I can tell you ISU is much more enjoyable and much more fundamentally sound. As a former coach watching IU makes me want to puke on a daily. It truly is astonishing that this staff can put together such a poorly constructed team. as you know 1st hand at most high school jobs you deal the hand given but these guys were hand picked by the IU staff. Being 100% honest I have not watched the last 3 games and just check in a few times during the game to see the score. I did listen to the last 3 min of Illinois and just enough to get my hopes up again just to realize we have no killers on this team. (APATHY HAS SET IN) Teams in Indiana more enjoyable to watch than IU mens team IU WOMENS Team Pacers Most high school teams In St PU The Greensburg 3rd and 4th grade YMCA team and I don't know any of the kids.
  5. Indiana State is fun to watch. Move the ball guys hit shots lots of assist they paly fast and oh yeah the win. Not too late to jump on the Sycamore Bandwagon still lots of room. You will feel better after the game also. Woody and staff watch some of that video and get some guys here who can do those things and maybe you have a chance to win in todays game otherwise we will continue to suck. It must be all those 5 star guys they bring to Terre Haute. FG 3PT FT 33-65 12-29 17-20 50.8 % 41.4 % 85.0 %
  6. On the flip side Painter is saying if I can get Fletcher Loyer to light up Indiana and have us ranked #1 imagine what i can do with you. I work in Greenfield and tell everyone I know that this kid needs to be a Hoosier and many have said only if he likes losing or something along those lines.
  7. Not sold that Woodson is a great recruiter. He can sell it to the guys that are 5 stars because what IU can offer but he cannot recruit or construct a competent team. I am sick of hearing about 5 stars I am sick of IU fans bragging about the number of great recruits we bring it. I just want some guys that can knock down some shots, play hard and not get punked in your own gym by Purdue. Every college team i watch have multiple guys that just make plays and do it on both ends yet we cant find any. We have what many seem to think are great coaches on the bench and they may be but all I see are a bunch of yes men. I don't care how many stars, I don't care what state or country you live in just go find some guys that have a little basketball IQ can hit some open shots and some free throws play hard and CARE is that asking too much. Some how Painter finds those guys, some how many mid majors find those guys yet IU cannot. I stated posting recently because like I said before we do not play hard or smart and are poorly coached. We are in a very bad place and there are no signs of things to get better. X is who he is and Woody gambled on him even doubled down and lost. If Ware or Mbako played for PU in Painters system they would be 1st team all big and maybe much better. I hate PU as much as anyone but they are what Indiana used to be and where we as fans wish we were if being honest. Braden Smith would not be very good in Woodys system but for Painter they are talking about him as an all american. Our system is broken and I just hope and pray they find a way to fix it. Just find guys that want to be here and compete and not be an embarrassment to the program is a good place to start. Rant over.
  8. me either I just know lots on here do and I chose a poor word to appease the masses lol. 1st encounter with him our boys were 10 and he was standing in the rain with an Eagles coat on standing along the left field line. His son played left for Smithville and my son played left that day for the Blazers. I introduced myself we talked for the whole game exchanged numbers he signed a diaper bag for Ayden who was 8 months old at the time and was above and beyond nice to me and my family. Several years prior When I was at South Decatur I emailed him and he was still at Marquette. He sent me the whole Marquette play book and an entire folder of shooting drills for mid range and closer shots. Maybe that helped DWADE along the way. I text him once that I needed a new OB under against zone to try and steal 2 pts a game he sent my 100 plays against Man another 100 for Zone and several DVDs of them from practice. I better not say too much because that why I ticked people off when I said I was not an Archie fan and they just thought it was sour grapes because I had been spoiled by Crean and Archie turned me down lol
  9. Wrong word not antics quirkiness maybe. And how others on the outside viewed him. I promise I would take him back in a second. Not gonna bash Crean he gave me his cell number to discuss coaching as well as our son's travel baseball teams and he always answered if I had a question or comment. Never talked about Indiana basketball just my teams and mostly about our boys playing baseball.
  10. I was taught if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything, unfortunately I am a slow learner. Before anyone says where was he after OSU game. I was at the Colts game having a great time with my family. I made reference to it after Nebraska about smart play and hard play and some disagreed with that assessment but I stand behind it. This team might be the dumbest basketball group I have seen on the court ever at IU. Sampsons guys might not be book smart might have been druggies, criminals etc... but had some basketball knowledge this group not a lick. Not since a 3rd grade game at the YMCA had I seen a player dribble pick up ball then dribble again until Walker last night. He shocked the ref and I just about fell off the couch. That was right after throwing a perfect pass into the back of a Rutgers player that led to a layup the other way. You cannot get outrebounded the way they did last night and say that anyone is playing hard or smart. The only differences that I see between the product that Archie put on the floor and what Woodson has on the floor now are: 1. The number of stars next to the players name is greater now. 2. Archies pack line defense gave up tons of wide open shots by design we just give them away now like door prizes. 10 years from now or maybe sooner well hell maybe even now. Coach Tom Crean is going to look like a genius and a hall of famer while at IU in comparison to everyone else. I could live with losing and the antics of Crean to watch those teams. I need a bottle of pepto some strong alcohol if a were a drinker and some type of speed if i did drugs to be able to watch this team game in an out. Boring unfundamental basketball at its best. If you want to have fun watching college basketball and stay in state the product on the floor at ISU is much more entertaining. Not sure how but somehow they found players that can not only shoot but make shots and they play fairly smart. Last night I watched until the under 12 timeout of the second half and in that time I saw more air ball 3's shot than 3's made by Indiana. It truly is hard to shoot an airball or at least for me it was.
  11. Here is a pic of the swim up bar for our above ground pool that I made it June. Sine then it has lights and stained and had a beverage or 2 consumed at it but wanted to share.
  12. My 2 cents, like many long time IU fans we would love to see many things out of our program but 2 things that I want more than any other are players that play hard and play smart. Unfortunately I can say this group of players do neither on a consistent basis in my humble opinion. They make it hard to watch and even more difficult to enjoy
  13. The worst part of watching the game was having to look at Tschetters facial expressions every time he scored. It reminds me of the face I make every time im on the Tschetter.
  14. Not taking the time to look up his numbers but not sure Tatum was more deserving than Haliburton for player of the Month. Haliburton numbers he joins Michael and LeBron as only to have those for an entire month and if you add in FT percent of 88% he stands alone. ▪️ 28.6 PPG ▪️ 11.7 APG ▪️ 53.2 FG% ▪️ 46.7 3P%
  15. Kev, So sorry to hear about this. Keeping you in prayer and thankful that things are on the mend.
  16. Dug out a couple items that I had put away since i retired from Coaching. I had met Coach K in 96 at a Coaches clinic in Vegas and later that summer I tried to get Coach to sign the pic as well and he said no way after the MFing Co@# sucker did!! It true Coach fashion.
  17. I am trying to find the Bob Costas interview with Coach from Holiday Inn in Bloomington between 2nd and 3rd street. We had seats very close to the front. 2 quick stories. The Tuesday after Coach and Dean Smith were arrested for trespassing while hunting I was in his Coaching of Basketball class. Everyone was on pins and needles and no one wanted to answer a question that he had asked. To be wrong was not good to be wrong that day I thought I might be target practice. To lighten things up Coach says I will ask again and the person with the correct answer get a full paid trip to go hunting with Me and Coach Smith but you have to bring your own GD bail money. We all laughed and every hand went up . I was waiting on Coach at the Colorado Steakhouse it was him Bob Hammel and Pat. At the same time Bloomington was hosting the 10U USSSA baseball World Series. Coach was having his usual ribs and an Arnold Palmer and the restaurant was packed with little league teams. Some Dads saw Coach and they and the kids starting lining up at his table for autographs. I asked Coach if he wanted me to tell them to leave you alone so you could eat and he said I can have these shitty ribs any day but I can't always talk baseball with a bunch of kids. He said pack the ribs up and he sat there talked to every person that came up signed lots of gloves and hats and spent about an hour plus talking with those kids. Im sure some young men out there now are remembering the day they met Coach in a steakhouse.
  18. I have this pic autographed by Coach K but Coach Knight refused to sign second.
  19. This one hits me very hard. Lots of tears, our whole family wearing our IU gear proudly in honor of our COACH. On top of that I have had a card sitting on my desk for 2 weeks that I was going to mail out to Coach and tell him what he meant to me and unfortunately I did not get around. to mailing it. I have a million great stories that I could share but the most important was that with out Coach Knight I would have never gone to IU, never gotten into teaching and Coaching. He told me I needed to go into teaching because I had something to offer kids. That stuck with me forever. WIth out that I would have gone into business and not into teaching. I would have never made it to Westport Indiana met my wife and be blessed with 3 amazing kids and 1 2 month old grand baby, Coach I love you miss you and RIP you impacted my life and so many more in ways that you never knew and I wish I had sent the card so that you would know but deep down I think writing was more for me because I knew this day was close at hand. Thank you COACH RIP
  20. I will not get rich off of this little haul but I bought a box of about 700 cards sight unseen at an auction for $10 mostly baseball but here are a few of the nice surprises that we found. Of course the 89 Upper Deck Jr is the highlight but I think its safe to say that I got more than my moneys worth out of it.
  21. I am now just a lurker not a poster but Here is my take on this topic. I wanted Smith to IU badly I think I saw him play as much as anyone not in his immediate family. Like everything about the kid and truly hate that he went to PU. He had some highs and lows this year due to being forced to play in the BIG as a freshman. He is for real and will have a stellar 4 years at PU I saw many of Cupps games and feel that he is everything that Smith is but just a little better in each area. His athleticism is much better than Smith and will surprise many people. He is a coaches son and has connections that Smith did not ( not just LBJ but that is big for many reasons.) Cupps will not be asked to contribute from day 1, so a freshmen year comparison will not be accurate. For all of the reasons mentioned as of March 31, 2023 I am saying Cupps is a much better player than Smith. Once again no knock on Smith at all and I hope my assessment of Cupps is accurate and with the weapons that Woody surrounds him with Cupps will be an all time fan favorite. IMO!! Back to the occasional lurking!!
  22. Fun team to watch. If there is a better passer on the move at full speed than Haliburton, not sure who it is.
  23. What do you think the magic number Irsay has to show him to get a resounding yes!!??
  24. I am sure we crossed paths at some point.
