  1. Jeez. I thought he just didn't have much personality/charisma. He seems to be an introvert. This and your other post make it seem like it goes deeper than that. There's nothing wrong with being an introvert, I'm one myself, but if you take a job that requires you to interact with people you need to do that. I intentionally went into a field that would allow me to not have to interact with large groups and the public. He chose to be a basketball coach and accepted a job at a major university with a large fan base. That requires interacting with more than just the players and coaching staff. He knew he'd have to do speeches and mingle with donors. He knew he'd have to interact with fans and that autographs and pictures would be expected. It sounds like he's doing about as good of job at those things as he is at putting a winning product on the floor. Let us know if you find out which recruit that was. That can't have made a very good impression. Especially if it was only 4-5 kids he'd have to sign autographs for and not 100.
  2. We had a coach do just that against IU earlier this season. I think it was against Butler.
  3. I agree with all of that. Several recruits have pointed to the offense as their reasoning. Also, he doesn't seem to have much personality so he doesn't come off as a great salesman. And that hurts when it sounds like he lets his assistants do most of the recruiting then he tries to come in at the end as a closer.
  4. To be fair, it isn't as though Miller hasn't recruited many top 50 or to 75 players. He just hasn't been very successful landing them. Which is on him but it shows that he does understand the level of talent he needs.

  6. I've been saying for a while now that this could convince players to stay in school longer. Of course, the NCAA will probably find a way to screw it up. They're only really don't it because they're being forced to, after all, and not because they actually want what's best for the athletes.
  7. I don't know about D2 at all but I thought they were on the same timeline as D1. It appears D1 has the rules purposed now and, unsurprisingly, some people think they fall short of what's needed. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2020/11/13/ncaa-nil-name-image-likeness-proposal/6281507002/ It appears the vote was supposed to happen soon, which is much sooner than I thought. NCAA wants to delay this vote, of course. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2925947-report-ncaa-d-i-council-could-table-landmark-vote-on-nil-legislation.amp.html There is also at least 1 bill in Congress purposed regarding NIL that may force the NCAA to make changes they don't want to if it passes, which had a greater chance more than it had last week. D2 NIL: http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/dii-presidents-council-advances-name-image-and-likeness-proposals It appears Michigan had also been looking at passing a law but the target date is Dec '21. So everything I've seen seems to point to it shouldn't be allowed yet even at D2.
  8. I believe they were supposed to have the proposed rules ready by the end of 2020 to be voted on in the spring and then take effect at the beginning of the '21-'22 school year. We know they're supposed to be allowed to earn NIL money at that time, just not what the exact rules will be yet. Edit: I think the law passed in Florida went in to effect at the beginning of this year. I don't know if that was delayed to allow the NCAA to catch up.
  9. According to the article he's not in the transfer portal.
  10. The official that was closest and made the call was behind and to the side of the Rutgers player. He would've seen the Purdue player take a swipe at the ball. It's not a surprising missed call. Remember, the officials don't always have as good of an angle as the cameras and vice versa. It happens.
  11. It was over and back but you're really going to complain about the only bad call that went against Purdue? The officials probably thought the same thing the announcers originally thought, that the Purdue player touched it.
  12. It's terrible and boring. About 11:30 left before either team broke 40 points.
  13. MSU is 3rd? They're 0-2 with one of those losses being to NW. They also gave up 91 points to Oakland less than 2 weeks ago.
  14. 6 seniors on their team. That kind of experience would help every year but even more so this year after all the interruptions during the off season. Those are seniors who know how to win and are used to it.
  15. Very scary. It can be fatal in athletes. Considering they put him in a medically induced coma, he must not have been doing very well the first few days. I hope he makes a complete recovery.
  16. Florida's Johnson released from hospital. Apparently it was myocarditis which caused him to collapse. It's been confirmedhe was one of the Florida players who caught COVID over the summer and COVID can cause that. There is no confirmation whether his condition was related to COVID, though. The Big Ten has more cardiac protocols in place than the SEC does, so hopefully any players who get COVID will be more protected. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/columnist/dan-wolken/2020/12/24/college-basketball-seeks-answers-keyontae-johnson-heart-condition/4040170001/
  17. No, you said "Losing out to Purdue on the best Indiana recruits? Since when? Not last year or the year before. " The answer to that is this year. That's the point. Recognizing that doesn't change or diminish the fact that IU beat them in recruiting the state the last 3 years. You guys make it seem that acknowledging the reality that not everything IU is going amazingly great is the same as saying everything IU is absolutely awful. It's not and there is a lot of room between extremes. I'm not going to bury my head in the sand and pretend IU has a better recruiting class than Purdue this year. Do so if it makes you feel better.
  18. If he had still reclassified but committed to another school I would've talked about how we missed on him last year. Since he was a 2020 recruit and all. But IU did land him and it made their recruiting class of 2020 even better. Maybe we should go ahead and award Lander as the 2021 Mr Basketball. But keep telling yourself whatever you need to to keep from having to face the reality that the 2021 recruiting class has been disappointing.
  19. Reclassifying means he changed his class so he was no longer a 2021 recruit. How can he possibly be a 2021 recruit when he's playing college in 2020? What if it was the reversed and instead of being a very good student who was able to graduate a year early he was a poor student so went to prep evil and reclassified to 2022? Should you still try to count him as a 2021 recruit? What if he skipped a year while in elementary or middle school instead of skipping his senior year of HS? Is he still a 2021 recruit instead of 2020? It's where the player finishes that determines which class he is considered to be a part of, nor where he starts. After reclassifying he was still the top recruit from Indiana in 2020.
  20. While I agree with a lot of what you're saying, I wouldn't include Wesley in that group. From many accounts IU stopped recruiting him well before his commitment.
  21. False. The best player who graduated in 2020 after reclassifying is on IU's roster. He was a 2020 recruit. There are no 2021 Indiana recruits on IU's roster.
  22. Lander is from Indiana but reclassified to 2020. At that point he was no longer a 2021 recruit, otherwise he'd still be in HS instead of playing for IU this year. That's how reclassifying works. True or false: IU has one HS senior committed to play for IU next year. True or false: That player is not Lander and is also not from Indiana. True or false: IU has 0 current Indiana seniors committed to play for IU next year. True or false: Purdue has commitments from Kaufman and Furst. True or false: Kaufman and Furst are the highest ranked current Indiana HS seniors.
  23. Kaufman and Furst are the best recruits in the state this year. IU lost them to Purdue and actually has 0 Indiana recruits this season. Lander was last year, TJD was the year before, and Romeo the year before that. The post being replied to said "since when?" Since this season with Kaufman and Furst is the answer to that. Not super complicated. Recognizing that Purdue did a better job of recruiting the state this year didn't diminish what IU did the previous 3 years but refusing to acknowledge it seems petty.
  24. Maybe read the post that was being responded to.
