Spot on. And I hadn't even considered the perception difference for college athletes but you're right, a free education used to see great but when it's now crumbs compared to the entire pie, it's a psychological difference to the players I would imagine.

When this Bucks team gets going they are unbelievably lethal. They don't have the consistency that we see from the great championship teams, but they're best game is amazing.

What I don't understand is why the Pacers would retool if they have all of these guys who are worth so much? I think Sabonis and Levert are the only guys we have with real value, maybe Brogdon too. Part of the Pacers problem with every single guy they have sans Turner is they're poor to average defenders. When you look at both teams on the Finals the guys I would consider their third options on offense (what any Pacer would be on a title team) they are all plus defenders.

Ironically enough, the NBAs previous support of China was peak capitalism. Goes to show there is no such thing as a perfect economic system.

If it's LAC that gets Lillard, wouldn't you want Terrance Mann and Paul George in return since they lack picks? Maybe something else, too. I could see McCollum move to point, Mann, PG, Cov, and Nurkic still being a playoff team. It's much better on defense than what they've had in recent years.

I would do this in a heartbeat as a Pacers fan, I just don't think the Dubs would do it.

I could see Sabonis and the 13th for Wiseman and the 7th, plus some other lesser assets from the Pacers. That's if the Dubs are in full win now mode, which they very well may be. If that were to happen, I think the Pacers would have to then move Turner. I personally think if this is the route the Dubs are going, they could probably get someone like Siakam who would be a better fit than Sabonis for the way they like to play.

I would still consider Giannis the most physically dominant player. I don't consider him the best player in the league and never have. I think you and I just mean different things, which is fine. I wouldn't call myself a Lebron fan, but I do think he is at a minimum one of the two best to ever play and still (or as recently as last season) is the best player in the league when he needs to be. I think he has physically dominanted as well as dominanted in other ways that Giannis can't, but I think Giannis happens to be more physically dominant in terms of ovwrhwleming you with strength and athleticism. Not that Lebron can't do that, he just has so many other ways he also chooses to attack you aside from that.

Agree to disagree. I don't think Giannis is better than Lebron at all, just more physically dominant. Part of it comes down to playing style IMO.

I think Milwaukee has this. Phoenix choking that 9 point lead is going to do them in. Game 2 goes to Milwaukee if Phoenix shoots 40% from three instead of 50%. I just don't see a way for Phoenix to stop Giannis and the Bucks. Outside of his first game back from what looked like a season ending knee injury, Giannis is having as good of a Finals as we have ever seen IMO. This was the first game he got real, serious help and he still had 26/14/8 with 3 steals and 2 blocks, one of which was an absolutely phenomenal play when his team needed it. Giannis may be the most physically dominating basketball player we have seen since Shaq in his prime. Enjoy watching him fellas.

He’s always delusional. The reality is we have a potential starting lineup that may include the B1G POTY, the B1G Freshman of the Year, a fourth year starting PG from a Power 5, another guard who has a lot of starting experience and averaged nearly 20 ppg, and arguably the best player/scorer on a B1G team last year. That’s not the profile of a 10 seed.

Giannis is having a historically good Finals so far. I would not be surprised to see Milwaukee come back and win this. I think you can make a case they’ve actually been the better team thus far, especially the past two games.

Being one of 67 of the thousands of coaches to ever coach college basketball puts you in pretty rare company. If we look at active coaches it an even smaller group, obviously. I don't think Cal is going on anyone's Mt. Rushmore of coaching, but he's clearly a damn good basketball coach.

So I will agree I don't want us to turn in to a 5 star factory, but we will have to agree to disagree about the rest. I would love Cal's results and I can't really think of many/any character issues. I'll just say I would take Cal over Izzo any day. Both have really good results, both go about it different ways, but I can't buy in to the fact that one and done equates to character issues.
