  1. And Cody. I'd assume he was at the game since it was a home game even though he is injured.
  2. You certainly can make a case that exceeding your record should get you COY, but you also can make a case it is more difficult to meet high expectations than exceed low expectations. To put it in a business sense, is it a bigger deal to have a quota of $500k and sell $750k or to have a quota of $1.2M and sell 1.3M?
  3. We will have to agree to disagree. Larry Legend just keeps on bringing joy to followers of hmHIS game, from HIS state. Larry for Governor!
  4. The real question is can we give Larry Bird Executive of the Year? I know he is no longer the president, but the foresight he had to fire Vogel and completely reconstruct the roster, right down to causing PG to become disgruntled so we could steal Oladipo and Sabonis from OKC was truly amazing. The Hick from French Lick really, really got the league good this time. Right, @Hoosierhoopster ?
  5. "The United States of America have exhibited, perhaps, the first example of governments erected on the simple principles of nature; and if men are now sufficiently enlightened to disabuse themselves of artifice, imposture, hypocrisy, and superstition, they will consider this event as an era in their history. Although the detail of the formation of the American governments is at present little known or regarded either in Europe or in America, it may hereafter become an object of curiosity. It will never be pretended that any persons employed in that service had interviews with the gods, or were in any degree under the influence of Heaven, more than those at work upon ships or houses, or laboring in merchandise or agriculture; it will forever be acknowledged that these governments were contrived merely by the use of reason and the senses." ~John Adams, A Defence of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America, 1787-1788
  6. "The essence of the independent mind lies not in what it thinks, but in how it thinks." - Christopher Hitchens
  7. We should've swept the Celtics this year. Not a big fan of the call at the end, glad Rozier missed anyway.
  8. Probably would put Brown on DeRozan and OG on Tatum, right? Boston has advantage of having Hayward out there with those guys, too. That's a ton of length, athleticism and scoring they're going to have going forward.
  9. I heard a rumour PG didn't tip his server at the free breakfast this morning
  10. PG with a pultry 9 in the Three Point Contest. I think we can finally end the PG debate after that performance
  11. Yes he does. He can get that shot anytime he wants, too. It's really impressive to see him stop on a dime and be completely under control.
  12. Detroit is the new Lob City...featuring Reggie Jackson as Chris Paul. Woof.
  13. Turner with 22 off the bench in an easy win Iver Charlotte. I think that may be a better fit for the team to let Myles be THE man when he is in with the second unit. Sabonis and Vic just have such great chemistry in the pick and roll.
  14. I think it got easier this season.
  15. That's not a nice way to talk about @bluegrassIU.
  16. And that's when Love was averaging 26 - 12 - 4. He was considered a borderline top 10 player back then.
  17. I guess for the direct comparison I'd have to ask if Klay was the two who are we putting at the three? LeBron and Klay don't play the same position so it makes it tough, but I think Klay could shoulder a scoring load and guard the best perimeter player. Klay is a shooting guard in the purest sense of the word. He isn't a combo guard like Harden or Wade, he isn't a wing. He's like Reggie or Ray Allen. The only other guy in the league you could really make that comparison for is Beal; that makes it really tough to compare who is better. I'll say this, I'm not convinced Klay is better than PG, I'm just not convinced he is not. They do different things and serve different roles.
  18. Is it fair to say no one actually leads a team to a title alone no matter how good they are? I can't really think of anytime anyone ever won a title with one elite player and a bunch of average to good players. LeBron is closer, but I think it would be a disservice to Kyrie and even Love to only call them "good." Both are very good and Kyrie is maybe elite? He certainly is an elite scorer at least.
  19. Sabonis named to the Rising Stars game.
  20. Here's the crazy thing, I don't hate him. I just don't think he is an elite player and a leader. I've shown many times I'm willing to change my mind when I'm presented new information; you get paid to make information fit your story. And he is playing great defense this year. Doesn't that prove he either want the same player from injury or had a terrible attitude? What's the other option for why he was only an average defender the past two years then got great on that end again?
  21. He also keeps saying someone isn't better because they aren't their teams leader but ignores that the Pacers worst seasons in recent years were when PG was the leader.
  22. This is also true. The irony of using Westbrook as proof of PG being a snub when he clearly is biased (and it's fair to question how well he actually understands what makes a good, winning basketball player) and knocking Steph that two Warriors (who are better than PG) made it, when Steph had noting to do with that, isn't lost on me. Hope it isn't lost on everyone else.
  23. For whatever it is worth, Tim Leggler talked about the ASG on Golic and Wingo and he doesn't share your thoughts. He thinks this is the most right they've ever been; would only argue maybe Dragic over Lowry in the East and in the West he thought they all were very deserving. He would've loved to add a roster spot, but not to add PG... To add Lou Williams. PG is a good player, a really good player, but he isn't the consensus elite player you act like. And he couldn't even make it in a year where Leonard was hurt. He's not even a top ten front court player at this point.
  24. I'll preface this with saying I LOVE Myles Turner; I think the Pacers are better without him. Sabonis fits better with Vic and Al Jefferson is great in the second unit. He is still a great low post scorer. Perhaps the Pacers should bring Turner off the bench when he gets healthy. He could be the alpha dog if the second unit and they could play through him like they do Al.
