Who's to say the last transfer isn't going to be a starter? Well, it's possible, but not probable.

I tend to go with the law of averages.

Not many people are transferring to maybe possibly battle it out for the 6, 7, 8 spot. If they have the kind of talent that could slot slot them into that position on IU's roster, they would probably demand some kind of NIL $$$, which I do not believe IU to have much left. I do not know that to be certain, just an assumption.

Ultimately, you have to identify the few players, then battle it out with other teams that can offer presumably more.

We don't really know the NIL situation but nothing stops them for asking for more in order to get someone they want.

Sure, it's improbable that we would find someone good enough to supplant a starter.  However, I also don't think we can assume the last player would also be our worst player either.

partly what my post was saying.

If the perfect fit comes along I think they will take it. The issue is.... what is the likelihood of a transfer that wants to come and sit at the end of the bench, and their thought process is how much time do we waste on something that is not likely. Hatton probably took the last of the money. So the transfer market of someone wanting to come for no money and no playing time is roughly about 0.

I think their efforts in finding that are roughly at about zero, and they are, like you said, focusing on '25 recruits and beyond, with we got our team mindset.

My mindset is, I am not worried about if the 13th scholarship is a 1 year guy, which again, I think is improbable for a guy wanting to use their last year for little money and no playing time, vs a younger player with multiple years. We will have  available scholarships next year, my guess is 5-6, to sign a younger 13th and also for the 3 instate kids and more.

I think we are in good position if we dont use the 13th, or if we use it on a 1 year guy, or multiple year guy.

Whose to say the last transfer would be the end of the bench.  Might be someone that thinks they can beat out players on our bench.

So one scholarship available. I’ve heard banking it which I totally get.

but I have a question same as last year.

why…if we landed a guy who only had one year left to use, wouldn’t we add that guy? Thats the part that doesn’t make sense to me.

not adding a 2-3 year guy even who’s solid, I get. But adding a one year guy if you have the scholarship for one year…I need explained why? 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

I wouldn't even be opposed to someone with multiple years left.   Scholarships are 1 year rental these days anyway.  If it doesn't work out, the player would transfer or be painted away anyway.

1967…my senior year of hs basketball.  Friday night sitting in the locker room before our game.  Coach comes in and says to me…”Couple of college scouts are here to see you play.  From Furman.”  They said, “Coach, we’re here to see your big man.”  They showed my coach a prospect sheet they’d received from someone somewhere with my name listed and my height…6’11”.  Problem was I was a 5’11” guard…with that height being generous by close to 2 inches.  The scouts stayed for the opening tip…then left.   😂😂

    Ivan?

We can just say he's tall and everybody will believe it... Hell, we even might make him believe it he'll start living his life as a tall person.

We have 8 starters that can be mixed and matched now to make for some exciting combinations. 3pt differential, rebounding differential and controlling pace. We've got that. It's important to have the sweeping line changes sustain the team and I believe Ballo being a beast of a 4 out big means Mgbako is now a modern 4. If you look at the rest of the additions and the quality of what we're looking at to complete the roster, the likely starting line-up will eventually be: Ballo, Mgbako, Tucker, Carlyle and Rice, with Goode, Galloway, Reneau the first mass substitution. Galloway can cover 1-3 with no drop off, Goode is a 3-4 again with no drop off and Reneau is money on the right block. He allows us to change styles of lay too.

Injuries and foul trouble will happen and Newton is a dark horse but it's inevitable. Woody will start off trying the "big line-up" but it can't work.

I think Reneau, Mgbako, Goode, Galloway and Rice are the closers though. Ballo can't shoot fts.

I wish but I don't see reneau not starting and getting major run

That makes no difference when the negative side only wants to hear their own voice.

Let's face it. Nothing said here is going to change anyone's mind, so why keep repeating yourself?

The critics aren't telling the other side to stop posting in the offseason.

Could easily say the woodson defenders just want to hear the own voice given how they act towards those they disagree with.

    Seriously?

He asked why people were criticizing woodson during the offseason and commenting about buying teams..so i responded..he apparently missed the point, so I responded.

Ok, i repeated myself hoping he would get the point.   But that was based on him repeatedly failing to comprehend an opposing view.

now are you going to question his post or are you just responding to me because you can't stand opposing views either?

I’ve stated my point a couple of times. It’s not my issue that you can’t read or comprehend. Nor is it my responsibility to teach you how to do either. If I type it a third, fourth, fifth time. You still wouldn’t understand if you couldn’t get it the first couple.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not the one repeating myself and missing the point of the responses.

This is stupid and very elementary. Well he did it first and until he stops I’m not stopping.
guess what you and all of the super critics are going to do if we have another crappy season.

no, you're acting clueless about why critics are posting about woodson in the offseason.

    I told you why.

What is stupid is trying to silence posters that don't agree with your opinion.  This is a forum and as far as I am aware, we are all allowed to voice our opinion.  Maybe you should put your big boy pants on.
