Ellis, Baldwin, James….just crazy how we went from a bunch of bodies to basically one scholarship player (Carr). How often has that happened ?
QB position in 2014 is worse, but not a ton.

How many targeting calls were not called against PSU? I counted at least 5.
The play Penix got hurt was a blatant facemask. The very next play was a sack on Tuttle and was textbook targeting. Neither was called.
Meanwhile a Rutgers player was ejected for targeting when he hit an OSU player in the chest.

Another example, tonight in the Oregon game.
Arizona WR after the catch dives forward, Oregon DB launches, crown of the helmet to the side of the WR helmet.
Called targeting on the field, 100% the play that created the rule. Booth says no targeting. Absolutely no real justification for the call last week on McFadden if that isn't targeting tonight.
It's an embarrassing for NCAA officials.

Bah. No brainer. If given the choice between Purdue, UK or the clap….hand me the penicillin.
Definitely a roof collapse game.

I only cheer for ND vs PU, and that's a really close call.

That play completely changed the game. There's no excuse to blow a call like that. Especially since it was initiated by the replay booth.

I know some people don't like blaming refs, and yes IU could make more plays and less mistakes despite the officiating, but the refs have 1000% completely changed this game against IU.
I agree. I am not a fan of putting blame on the officials overall, but the targeting and roughing the passer were huge calls and both completely wrong. Plus on a big 3rd down there was absolutely a PI on the db guarding Fryfogle.
That simply can't happen in a game like this.

The officials have blown about 3 huge calls, all against IU.

We're just lifeless. I might have to take my dog for a walk and hope we wake up while I'm gone.
That targeting call completely changed the game. Absolutely terrible call.

Thanks for posting. I can't remember a time IUFB has had so much praise from BTN guys in the preseason. On the BTN Live at IU Dave Revsin was very positive too.

That guy is going to be sorely disappointed this football season.
Also, I'm getting really sick of hearing, "but IU didn't beat any teams with winning records," and "Penn State and Michigan were trash last year anyway."
1. A lot of those teams didn't have winning records because playing only a few conference games for the whole season means most teams will finish with losing records while only a few having winning records, and
2. I firmly believe that had IU not beat Penn State and trounced Michigan, they both would have had much better seasons. Losing to IU broke the will of both of those teams, especially Penn State.
I agree completely. The line about beating a team with a winning record it idiotic. It was conference only schedule last year, therefore the entire conference was going to finish exactly. 500.
With IU and OSU combining for 1 loss, the rest of the conference, and especially the East would be a corresponding number of games below. 500.
If you add the normal easy non conference wins most teams have, PSU, UM, Maryland, Wisconsin all would have likely had winning records.
Part of being a good team is winning games you should win. I don't think PU will be terrible this year, but there is no way they win 7 or 8. Rivaly games are always crazy, but when the bucket game comes along I think IU is likely at least a 7pt favorite.

If he is focusing on baseball too, we have to be one of the favorites. Though it looks like he is huge ND lean
I am sure ND is in the driver's seat. He goes to a Catholic school in "the region."
But the CB picks have zero credibility right now. It seems most of the early CB picks are from traditional power schools simply to drive clicks.
Mercer and Allen are intelligent guys and successful coaches. I guarantee they are working together to put the full court press on Bowen.
Baseball and Football at IU have top of the line facilities. Probably a long shot but I will give the benefit of the doubt to our coaching staffs.

Holy crap. That's two massive recruits in-state that is giving IU a legitimate look.
I was happy to see IU make his top 12. Getting this far with Bowen and Curry is fantastic. This staff does a terrific job once guys get on campus.
A 9 plus win season would be huge on so many levels.

I like to look around at other blogs and websites to see what opposing writers/fans think of IU. I thought we could start a thread and if anyone runs across something they could post it here.
Below are the few I have found so far.
Off Tackle Empire has several articles. I will link one and interested parties and navigate the rest from there.

247 has him listed as an edge rusher. Where do we think he'll play primarily?
I could be wrong, it has happened before...but I am guessing he will be a Bull. LB/DE combo.
He is such a tremendous talent, just put him out there and let him make plays.
With the guys committed, if we manage to add a guy like Curry or Kelly to the dline, and flip Allen at safety...wow. Tremendous defensive group in this class.

I see a guy with great speed, and scouting report says one cut and can take it all the way. Looks like Coach DM has Tevin Coleman 2.0.
This is the guy we have been missing from the running game recently.

Sounds like it's a done deal. Wiltfong CB of 8. Weaver a CB of 9.
That's as concrete as it gets in my book.

There's a guy on Purdue rivals that's an ND fan, and he's claiming Curry isn't as good as his ranking and he's a plan B for OSU, Clemson and Bama.
He clearly is priority 1 for IU, hopefully that makes a difference.

rivals pick to Purdue
Not saying he is wrong, but the guy covers Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
Not sure how connected he is to this recruitment.
With that being said, seems like PU might be the choice. I obviously would love to get Strickland, but I think his recruitment is more important for Brohm than Allen.

What video? You mean his IG stories?
Someone mentioned a snapchat interview, I assumed it was a video. They stated he wanted to be an engineer and was looking forward to playing ND.
I might have misunderstood what was going on.
-
If that video is legit, it's Stanford. They have engineering I believe, and play ND next year. Purdue doesn't play ND after this year until 2024.
Pure speculation...he wants IU, mom wants PU, so to keep the family peace he ends up at Stanford.
-
I assume it isn't Stanford. That's 3am there.
