You’re being disingenuous.  Wasn’t he at IU and Purdue twice?  There are more job switches than you are trying to brush under the rug.  Bottom line, offer him an extra $25K, and he’s getting the Mayflower truck.  Loyalty to his job is not on his radar.

It's all been in the last 10 years he has jumped around.  At Purdue for a decade then..

    2011 IU

    2013 T A&M

    2016 IU

    2020 Texas

    2021 Purdue

That is a lot of moving in 10 years.

Listened to just a short bit of an interview on ESPNU radio on Sirius. They were talking to a guy from 24/7 and asked him what he thought IU's ceiling was this season. He immediately said 2nd in the B1G East, but then said he thought realistically 3rd or 4th.

I think Penn St. may be tough to overcome, but would be disappointed to fall behind Michigan this year.

Realistically Penn St. is better than IU and should finish 2nd in the east.  But it's not a big reach to say we are better than Michigan.

They lost some important pieces to the draft, had 15 transfers leave the program, and it wasn't a fluke win last year.

Indiana has emerged as the frontrunner for the four-star offensive guard from Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider, but there is not a commitment timetable in place yet. That would be another massive recruiting victory for the Hoosiers if they can lock up Moore, who has more than a dozen offers, and it would add another four-star prospect to an already impressive recruiting class

I agree with you on that. I think Hagen has been huge for us in this recruitment and Karlaftis too.

I was excited when Wilson hired Hagan to be on the IU staff.  He did a good job at PU and I expected another Ryan Kerrigan type impact player.

By the time he left for Texas A&M I wasn't all that sad.  He was fine at IU but never really blew me away with the development of our Dlineman.

I know most Purdue fans hold him in high esteem and I understand why. He just never lived up to expectations at IU in my opinion.   I have been impressed with his replacement Kevin Peoples so far.

I mean this in the nicest way but referencing Hammer & Rails is a waste of time as they are way too much fanboy lol. I honestly don’t know what happened with Cooper but I do know that we had a decent “in” with him in that his sister played basketball at Purdue. I do wonder if either we backed off or he did but we haven’t been seriously recruiting him for a few months now IMO.

I don't read their stuff often.  That article popped up on my news feed and that paragraph really stood out to me as bizarre.

Every fanbase has their share of fans that aren't able to look realisticly at their team.  Some just have a more visible medium to share their views.

Thanks for your imput H&R I appreciate it. Gives me a better perspective on their articles.

  6. Hopefully we get the committment, but if not, there's probably a much lower ranked WR with a higher upside (sarcasm.)

The paragraph below is from Hammer and Rails after getting a WR commitment.

"One thing this commitment reinforces is that Purdue is out of the Omar Cooper competition. Cooper is a 4* wide receiver out of Lawrence North, and has a similar game to Deville. For me, Cooper is the more polished receiver, and will find his way onto the field before Deville, but I’ll give the nod to Deville, in terms of athleticism and long term upside."

This guy might be right, but it's the PU mentality on recruiting under Brohm.  They either "backed off" on a guy they didn't have a chance with, and/or this lower ranked guy with way fewer P5 offers is a better prospect anyway.

  7. I was looking at the rankings for BIG schools, and outside of OSU who is top in the country right now,  our class is holding it's own.  This staff has gotten off to a terrific start and it looks like more to come.

Really unimpressed with Illinois and Purdue's classes.  Illinois has 10, but nobody that really moves the needle.  Purdue has Allen headling their class,  but they have several guys with very few P5 offers.

This guys has been right before.  He is lucky or has sources.   Time will tell.

The RB would have to be flipping Jointer from Arkansas.  WR would be Cooper probably.  DL could be one (or 2) of several guys.

It sounds like Gaines has been high on IU for a while.  Strickland is on campus now, but I have no idea what his decision timeline is. Leathernecks posted that Durant is announcing on July 4.

It has been a fun month, definitely want to keep the momentum going!

All 5 of those losses besides Ohio St is basically our season and somehow he thinks we'll be losing every single one? Maryland and Purdue aren't losses. Iowa and Penn St are toss ups...just like Cincy is. Who knows with Michigan?

I have locks to win as Idaho, Western Kentucky, Sparty, Rutgers, Minnesota, Purdue, and Maryland. Only game that is probably a loss is Ohio St but again...who knows.

Our reason rests with Iowa, Cincy, Penn St, Michigan.

Split those and we go 9-3. One win or one loss obviously has big implications on potential CFP or another Florida bowl. Either way I like typing exactly what I just did instead of mapping out the 6 win probabilities.

That idiot had Maryland winning only 3 games,  and magically IU was one of them.

I don't have as many "locks" as you do, but I think 8+ wins is very realistic.

    Lock: Idaho

Good chance at W: Western KY, Maryland,  Rutgers, Michigan St., Minnesota, Purdue (but rivalry games at the end of the year are really unpredictable.)

    Tossup: Michigan,  Iowa,  Cincinnati

    Have to play exceptionally well....OSU

He's been talked about a little in other threads, but I couldn't find one just about him. Wiltfong just put in a crystal ball pick with a confidence level of 6.

I posted on the other thread a Wiltfong article about the recruiting weekend.  Hoover's quotes sound like his college choice has been made.  Probably why Wiltfong put in the CB when he did.
