I didn't grow up an IU fan, so I don't have the ingrained Purdue hatred that a lot of people here have, but I still think they're overrated. I will be surprised if they compete for the BIG title. I think OSU and Michigan will be at the top. By tournament time MSU and IU will be right there with them, but both of us will lose a few winnable games early in the conference, so we won't have a shot at the regular season crown.

I agree with you on Illinois - I'd say they're a bubble team. They'll make it, but not by that much. Northwestern is more of a true bubble team and might not make it.

I have the hatred of all things Turdue Toiletmakers, so I'm not sure if its the poop-stained glasses or not, but I agree with you to an extent. I think they'll go as far as Ivey takes them. From what I've seen (only a few games vs. IU and probably B1G tournament and NCAA tournament) he forces things (similar to Carson Edwards), so if he's on then they'll be tough and if he's not they'll lose some games they should have won.

That’s average it’s likely our athletes skew higher.

Agreed. That average is basically useless info IMO.

It is for a short period of time (only July) and doesn't say how many athletes it covers (only says D1 average is $471 median is $35). It is likely completely skewed by the small number of large deals and large number of small/zero$ deals that occurred in July (how does it account for a massive deal signed in June that pays out over time?)

My point is, Archie got hammered for how he used Langford, and what I'm saying is I've watched him for 3+ seasons, now on his second organization (IU and the Celtics) and his third head coach (Archie, Stevens and now Udoka) and maybe it's a Langford issue.

I've seen several Celtics over the years that play the same role/position (Nesmith, Semi Ojeleye, Javonte Green, etc.) as Langford, and while they also spend time spotting up in the corner, they also manage to find themselves involved in ball screens and up top and on the wing with the ball and being aggressive, while Langford would run from corner to corner and treat the ball like a hot potato.

At some point that is on Langford.

Something the announcers brought up last night is that Jaylen Brown has not only improved his shooting but what doesn't get talked about is how much he has improved his ball handling. When he was first in the league he basically only had a straight-line drive, but he's improved his ball handling so much that it is now a huge strength and he has all of the moves in his bag when coming off ball screens or being isolated.

I'd guess Langford is still in the corner because he still has no left hand and isn't super capable at the NBA level of breaking anyone down off the dribble and he's just now improving his jumper to where it is respectable. Of course, some of that is due to his injury issues.

But again, I more just bring this up because Archie got blasted for Langford being in the corner all of the time, but under two other head coaches I haven't seen much different from Langford.

As Brown improves hes reminding me of DWade more and more

Kyrie out until he gets vaccinated. Nets won't play him on a limited basis. Could Philly and Brooklyn just swap headaches lol?

Player only it would actually be a good swap as Simmons doesn't need to shoot w/ Harden and Durant around and would bring some much needed D to BKN

Kyrie would work much better w/ Joel than Simmons does and can block some of the shots in the paint from guys that blow by Irving

    However...

Kyrie is legit crazy and I've read he says he will retire if traded and Philly's asking price wants picks that BKN doesn't have after acquiring Harden...

    🤷‍♂️

The fan base I am related to are getting fed up with the status quo.  They want a FF appearance...before they die.

Being that most of the ones that saw the last FF by a Purdue team are solidly in that prostate checking age range @5fouls was talking about in another thread, I don't blame them 😉

With all this Purdue FF talk  I had to break this classic out...Trey Kaufman Commits to Purdue - Page 92 - Basketball Recruiting - Hoosier Sports Nation | Indiana Basketball and Sports ForumPurdue, known as the Cradle of Astronauts, counts 25 alumni as astronauts including four Apollo astronauts. The span of time between when Boilermaker Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon and Cernan became the last marked an era of unparalleled exploration.

I do think this is the deepest team he’s had at Purdue (the baby boilers team talent was maybe a bit higher overall but not the depth). And I think Ivey is the lead guard we haven’t really had in year’s past. Def agree that we need to break through. Hopefully the basketball gods can help us out after that Virginia ending two years ago.

Basketball gods helped you out in the previous game vs Tennessee so Virginia was the course correction.

Just an update. Not sure where things stand on our end with him but he's going to academy in California that is backed by Kanye West.

I would think that would eliminate us from pursuing him. If we haven't offered while he's in IN, then I don't see us offering once he's in CA.
