Kodak switching gears. And will start manufacturing pharmaceuticals in the U.S.  I can only hope other U.S. companies do the same.  There should be no reason why this country should remain dependent upon China.

Sorry for getting off topic, but I had an uncle that was head of security for Kodak back when Kodak was a mega-corporation. Part of his job was travelling all over the world when the corporate officers were. He actually had to de-bug rooms and make sure everything was safe. Especially during big corporate sponsored events like the Olympics. He told me Kodak could care less about making another roll of film as they were involved with the government making defense items.

Man the stories he could tell.

  2. The mayor of our city issued an executive order yesterday where starting on Wednesday, July 15, all residents and anyone else in the city, will be required to wear a mask while out in public. However, how it will be enforced is another matter as he stated that police will not be required to relax on their main responsibilities.

  3. Things are going nuts down here in E'ville as it pertains to the virus. There have been over 40 new cases reported in 1 day. Several restaurants have closed again due to employees having tested positive for the virus. A couple of weeks ago, there was maybe about 500 cases, now it's well over 600!

As Mile has stated, stay safe out there......

That's fair.  I was coming here to say that we've heard one side of the story thus far.  I'm not surprised there are racist idiots in Indiana, but after Jussie Smollett, I'm content to let this story play out completely before assuming guilt or innocence.

    Duke LaCrosse team says hello.....

  5. Down here in little 'ol Evansville, Indiana, there has been a spike in covid cases. Last week saw an unexpected surge of over 60 cases and yesterday, Wednesday, there was 17 cases in one day, the most reported so far. Most of the new cases are coming from the 18-30 age group.

  6. Well, well, well.....

Are cable companies coming around to folks cutting the cord? Down here in Evansville, we have 2 cable companies, Spectrum and WOW. I have my bundle, cable, phone and internet (25 mbs) from WOW! A week ago, my wife is paying the bills and noticed our bill had gone up to nearly $240 dollars! After calling them, she managed to get it to $140, good for 2 years. Why do they make us beg for discounts?

But yesterday in our mail we received a letter from WOW talking about.........................................

Are you ready? Cutting the cord!!! And they had plans to help us do so and save us (gasp) money in the long run by offering various streaming services such as Youtube TV, Philo, Sling and others. No more cable boxes or paying fees for those pieces of equipment. The plans are intriguing to say the least and I may look in to them.

What do you guys think? Are cable companies finally coming around?

Well, we are going to try and have a live Church service this morning, albeit outside with everyone practicing safe distancing! Those who are concerned are encouraged to stay home and watch virtually. Anyone with symptoms are not welcome on site but again encouraged to watch virtually. Another step towards a more normal life!

The church my 89 year old mother-in-law attends, had live services this morning. She really misses her friends, but will not be attending for a while.

  8. Woo-Hooo..... Let's give it up for Indiana's Governor, Eric Holcomb! He has sped up Phase 3 by 2 days for the Memorial Day week-end. Malls, Gyms, and other retail outlets, as well as pools and campgrounds can re-open tomorrow, Friday (or Friyay!!!).

Man it's great to be a Hoosier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  😁

According to Forde this alternative seems to be gaining plenty of steam for fall schedules around country. Cancel fall break, shorten or condense fall schedules.... but no in person classes once Thanksgiving hits and have longer winter break.

Living in Evansville, we have a major Fall Festival that is put on by the West Nut Club. It was the second largest street festival with Mardi Gras being the biggest. It is always held the first week of October. Many non-profit organizations, churches, and schools have booths selling food, raffle tickets, etc.. I can't help but wonder if this years festival will go on or be cancelled. It would be a major set back for many of them

UPDATE: The West Side Nut Club announced the annual Fall Festival will go on as planned. Good News

So sorry to hear this, Scott! Wishing you the best in finding a new job and hope you're feeling better! What a crappy time in our world. This will pass though, I know I'm doing my best to be positive and forward looking.

All because of a medically induced shutdown of the economy.....  sad

    Hang in there Scott

Are we though? Every piece of information that I'm seeing tells me we're not nearly at the levels of testing that we need to be. Indiana, for example, has roughly 6.8 million residents. As of today, the state has tested ~130,000 people. That's less than 2% of the overall population. That's not going to cut it. We may be seeing "more testing", but on a per capita basis, we're way behind the curve. I'm not going to ascribe blame here, but this is just a fact.

My question though is will they be able to test all 6.8 million people, just Indiana alone? Is that even realistic?
