This probably should go in a different thread but I'm not sure which one. The term "shooter" has come up a lot in this thread though so I'll post here. What are folks thinking with statements like "he's not a shooter" or "we need shooters"?

Are folks wanting/expecting someone like Hulls where the player has one job and that is to knock down 3's at a +40% with defense, rebounding, driving the ball, etc. being optional?

    or

Are folks wanting/expecting someone like Mark Sears that shoots +50% from the field +40% from 3, +80% from the line and can also kill you off the dribble, play D and rebound?

    or

Are folks wanting/expecting something in between?

I'm not making a case one way or the other for what "shooter" should mean here, I'm just trying to understand what other's are wanting/expecting.

When I see people saying we need shooters they are implying 3 point shooters. To me we just need shot makers from the guards this year. One thing our guards lacked last year was being able to create a shot for themselves. They weren't able to create space off the drive and pull up for a 13-15 foot shot. With Galloway it was a stand still 3 pointer or a floater in the lane.

I am totally into MLB this year.  There were several years in a row where I barely even watched the Reds.  Now, I'm watching any game, Reds or otherwise, that I can make time for.

I can honestly say the pitch clock and elimination of the shift saved baseball for me.

At least here in the Indy area I haven't been able to watch all the Reds games. They are on the same channel as the Pacers so any time the Pacers play we don't get the Reds game.

10k 1H 0BB? Something like that. He was efficient and good.

Health. Wow just get and stay healthy.. McClain is out until August? Is that right?

Elly looks like a lot different hitter(he was also very good in spring training)..

    What about Friedl?

McClain is out until at least August and Marte is suspended for 80 games. Also Friedl has been out all year so far

I don't think Rice-Carlyle-Ballo is a better infusion of talent than Mgbako and Ware were last year, and look how that ended.

How about if we get Rice, Carlyle, Ballo, Hickman and another stretch for type of players.  Plus we also got Tucker this spring as well. Which off season would be better.

    Rice, Carlyle, Ballo, Hickman, Tucker

    MM, Ware, Cupps, Newton

Oh I think it's significantly better. Coupled with MR/MM improving their games, that's a helluva start to a team.

Carlyle's EFG% was 54% on catch-and-shoot 3s. 73rd percentile in the country. Furthermore, his "spot up" so catch and shoot plus catch and drive was 1.1PPP and was in the 81st percentile. This couples with Rice very well.

You all know I don't do advanced metrics.Tony Aldragna was on Assembly Call and said Rice's offensive efficiency was 105 last year and JHS efficiency his freshman year was 94
