Tis is the list of the all NBA for 2018-2019. I did not take the time to look but a lot of these players were not 5 star recruits.

Apparently so. And all I ask. Why not ? Just seems like a perfect time to come together, through what ever means to make it happen.
Thanks Scott. For being a GREAT Hoosier Sports Nation member.
I would think the players association likes the one and done rule because it allows the older players more roster spots. If the players accept this then they will want something from the NBA so there will be some negotiating.

Good answer !.. Here's my response. With nothing else going on. Have to have the player's association get off their behinds. And start the action going. Why not ? What else do they have to do under the current circumstances ? GET RID OF THE ONE AND DONE RULE. NOW !
I agree with you but it is not that easy

I know. However. With the recent shut down. Here's my thoughts on that. Why wait ? Do it now !
because the NBA can't just implement this because it has to be through collective bargaining with the players association.

I'm no expert but I would almost bet the farm that the schools that are consistently elite (Duke, UK, UNC, Kansas, etc) consistently have top recruiting classes. I'm sure that is no giant coincidence.
but it has not produce that many champions lately and I would rather IU go to the UVA and Villanova route of roster management.

i battle with many of you about how important rankings are every time recruits come up. i will admit that i think one of the most important things is what other schools offered, BUT... i still stick with we have guys ranked 99, 128, and 132 coming in this season. hopefully Lander too. now we have 106 coming in 2021. sure guys can be underrated and hey can overachieve, but i don't exactly count that as killin it! we need a nice mix of these #99-132 kids, but a couple more studs like Lander to really expect much.
I saw a couple of rankings that had him in 80-90 range

Here is another one.
Did it say if he is going through the process or leaving for good. Also I thought our UI poster that comes here said that no way Cockburn would leave after this season.

I've thought that but I'm leaning towards UK. He's always talking as if the only way to win is with a ton of 5* recruits.
He probably still thinks that Donovan and his wife is in town looking for a house.

Right, but he's not a guy you expect to be 1 or 2 and done. He's not a Lander, Langford, Zeller, Yogi. He's ranked around 80ish, so a guy you'd expect to probably be around 3 or so years, but he doesn't have the intangible potential with his length and athleticism to over deliver on his ranking like a VO or OG.
Now a days you have no clue who will leave early. I saw that Richmond had 3 guys declare for the NBA

Thank god, tired of watching him.
Well now that is another big ten big man out of the way (Oturo, Tillman, Wesson and Smith)

He is.
What a surprise but he is predictable.

Yeah, if 2-3 reporters and some insiders come out with the same thing I'll give it some credence, but one guy tweeting and providing no reason or context, doesn't move the needle for me.
To me this is kind of funny on the same day that a Duke insider puts a crystal ball prediction for us on Kaufmann is the same day this guy post this tweet.

I've consistently said we need multiple top 50 big men in the 2021 class. I've been right way more than I've been wrong over the years.
Yeah you and Fepaugh are never wrong. I bet he is over on rivals talking about Duncomb not being a high enough rated recruit.

Miss on Kaufman and Archie is in serious trouble IMO. He needs 2 impact big men for 2021 and Logan isn't one of them.
Give it a rest, we know you don't like Archie but your statement is ludicrous.

Seems like a really strong pickup!
I really like what Archie is doing in terms of roster. I think you need two guys like Kaufman and Muhammad to make it take off, but the makeup is there for really strong teams. There's just a really nice mix of presumably 4-year guys (Franklin, Leal, Galloway, etc.), a couple lower rated guys with huge upside (like Geronimo), and then more immediate "star" guys with Lander and then hopefully adding Kaufman and Muhammad.
That's a solid mix of guys that bring star power mixed with foundational, 4-year guys to survive and still be competitive if some of those stars leave sooner than anticipated.
I wouldn't say Geronimo was a lower rated recruit with him being a top 100 player

Inside out recruiting. Nice to get an Ohio kid. I’d love to see our next new assistant have Illinois ties so we can attack more there too.
Watching Logan develop is going to be interesting. You can project what he will be like as a player as he grows into his body more and more. The other nice thing is he will be here for awhile as an ideal likely four year player. I believe his coach kept using the word “motor” with him.
What new assistant, I don't think anyone left did they?

Great pickup and he looks like your typical UW post player who we always wished had come to IU

Good read and I have had a feeling Jordan will be a very good player earlier than people are thinking.

definitely had a lot to do with shot selection. good coaches put guys in position to shoot shots they could make within the offense. big guys didn't work on proving they could shoot the 3. ah, i miss that type of game.
So do I and just don't understand why coaches today can't see that is a more efficient way to run an offense than the ball screens we see today. Also back then you saw a team come into the front court and start their offense right away. Now we see them just come up and dribble a few seconds or go into the weave for 15 seconds before starting their offense. With this time off these coaches should look at these older games and see how well a lot of these offenses ran compared to wat we see today.

Great observation. Also how many times did we see players, from many teams step out of bounds, attempting three point shots... because the line was moved out. And left less room on the base line ?
I also think why offenses are not as good now is that the analytics has taken out the mid range game and you no longer see kids shooting a 12-15 foot shot. Those early 90's team had several guys who shot those 15 foot baseline shots at a great percentage.

I watched a '92 game versus Illinois, something that struck me was the commentators talking about how all IU players had shot over 50% during a 13 game win streak. Every freaking guy on the floor could shoot back then. Then ones that were a bit sub par knew their limits and only shot high percentage shots within those limits.
It is because they all took good shots and did not have t force shots at the end of the shot clock. 45 seconds was a good tie for a shot clock because it still allowed you to work on offence to get a good shot. It also prevented teams from just holding the ball the last 4 minutes of the game. Today at 30 seconds you just don't have time to run an offense where you move the ball and the players moved. You see way to many times where a player has to take a contested shot at the end of the clock that has about no chance to go in.

Another thing that caught my eye watching these older games is how announcers talk about how guys will be coming back the next year. Watching the 81 championship game the other day and Billy Packer without hesitation talked about how 8 of the 10 starters will be back the next year. We are talking about 5 or 6 1st round draft picks on the floor and there was no talk about guys leaving early. Even though IT did leave and Turner had his accident it is just funny how times were so different. Even watching the 92 sweet 16 game against FSU they talked about how every starter in that game would be back the next year which all did.
To me this is the biggest difference in basketball then than what it is today. I know people get tired of me saying how much better the game was back then but this is why it was better. I did not say the individual player talent was any better back then but best players stayed and your team could grow over the years. Last night the Assembly Call crew watched the 93 sweet 16 game against UL and then had a show afterwards to discuss the game like they do normally after a game. They kept talking about what kind of leader Calbert was and how he could take a game over which is true. The thing was that he was a great senior player who was so experience to know how to take the game over.
Today we see so many players leaving early for the NBA who is not even close to being ready. Vanderbilt has two guys turning pro and they were one of the worst power 5 teams in the country this year. I know it is different and don't blame the palyers in thinking about the NBA but this kind of thinking is what is hurting the college game.

Good move on his part. Get some additional expert advice on direction. Imagine TDJ with a reliable jump shot and better moves with his right hand...wow.
Watching these old games and seeing guys like Eric Anderson and Allan Henderson who were very good from 15 feet so if TJD could get that in his game.

So do I and I would love college basketball go to the baseball rule. You go straight to the NBA but f you go to college you have to stay 3 years.
