Hang in there.  My thoughts and prayers are still with you.

The worst part is the boredom because I just stay in my room all day watching TV and not much on during the day.  I have caught up on some old shows like Matlock, In the Heat of the Night and the Walton's.

How are you doing?  Are your symptoms getting better?

Actually the last two nights have been my worst.  My main symptoms are when I breath I have a burning feeling in my stomach and chest.  It is hard to try to get to sleep so I have been staying up late and then sleeping late.

  3. I remember that when this virus first started I was one that was not to worried about it and thought everything was being blown out of proportion.  Now going through it and seeing how bad it is, I was so wrong.  All I was worried about was losing the tournament and not looking at the big picture.

My problem when I recover and ready to go back to work is that I will have to go through training with my new company.  My department was taken over by another company but I stayed on to get all of my work caught up before moving to the new company.  With the lock down it will be hard to be able to in and train.

  4. I would bet that the Colts won't be picking t 34 because I see them trading down to around 39 or 40 and picking up another 3rd round pick.  I would like to see a WR like Higgans from Clemson or Pitman form USC and the other pick being a OT or RB.  RB is not really a huge need but there are a lot of top RB;s still on the board so go BPA

The "dude quoted" has some pretty impressive credentials and it is hard to find fault with the Sweden approach as it seems to be working better than many other places. He never said to "shove the elderly in a room to let them die". There is a difference between that and quarantining young healthy people who have minimal  (notice I did not say no) risks. People should be allowed to decide what risks they want to assume for themselves/ their family.

From what I've heard, the young people affected often have other health issues or vape. Any anecdotal evidence to that?

The problem is that you might think you are healthy and not realize you are infected.  Also when you go out in public you have to worry about everyone you come in contact with.  If people would do what has been asked of them this wouldn't have spread like it has.

I know that when essential workers go to Lilly for testing on Friday, it doesn't come back til Monday.  However if you go Monday - Thursday it's 24 hours or less.

I tested on Wednesday afternoon and got my results Saturday morning

@IU Scott glad to hear it isn’t hitting you hard. Hope you get through this quickly and your parents are safe.

It is interesting how this virus affects people differently: some hospitalized, some have high fevers for 5 days, some have mild fevers for a few days and some don’t even know that they are sick.

Because it’s not getting you bad in comparison to some others I’m curious (and if you don’t mind sharing) do you consider yourself a healthy person with a healthy diet? I know I’m not going to crack any mysteries but I’m wondering if there is a correlation between less severe symptoms and healthy, vitamin rich diets/low sugar consumption/etc.

No I am not in great shape but have not had any medicals condition either

Glad it doesn't have you down like it has some people...

Thank you, my mom and dad moved in with my brothers house because I have to be quarantined for 7 days.  They are in their late 70's and can't around this because it could kill them.

  10. Just wanted everyone to know that I have tested positive for the virus.  Have not really been really sick or had that many symptoms.  I had a low grade fever and some congestion but felt pretty good.  Main reason I wanted to go to the doctor and get tested was my elderly parents lives with me. Just wanted people to know that you can have this without being sick.  Even the doctor was not even going to test me since my symptoms was not that bad.

So from what I’ve read is that Logan Duncomb was a bad signing due to no outside shot or presence?  Do I need to remind you that Vic Dipo couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat in the Pacific Ocean coming into College?  The kid seems to have all the other measurables that you want & thankfully as we have witnessed, a shot can be found.

He can hit 3's just did not shoot many with him hitting 3-7

The extended 3pt line had nothing to do with that?

Did not say it didn't but some has said shooting is at a all time high which to me it isn't.  I still think shooting is down because of the shot clock being at 30 seconds and we see way to many contested shots at the end of the shot clock.  A lot of peoples  perception of the game before the shot clock was that most teams just held the ball and scoring was lower but that is not the case.  To me the pace of the game was higher and the flow of the game was better because teams for the most part would take good open shots.

There are two sides to this discussion for sure, but I think there’s a fair amount of “right” on both sides.

disclaimer, it’s early morning, still drinking my coffee, haven’t gone back through all the posts.

So I am a fan of the mid-range game, and the bank shot / work from the elbow. And I like hard D, not a fan of the rather extreme hands-off rules in place now, driven by the desire to really open up scoring — I think it’s gone too far. I also kind of miss true centers.

On the other hand, players today in general are extremely skilled, outside shooting is fantastic, it’s ridiculous to say otherwise, there are all kinds of genuinely elite point guards, and the game has never had this level of skill up front - ball handling, playmaking, shooting forwards all over the place.

Guys like Dirk and Garnett really got the change going, now how do you defend a guy like KD? Try defending a mobile, agile 7-footer who can shoot lights out from deep while also slashing to the basket. There weren’t really KD’s “back in the day,” and what is not to like about that kind of crazy skill as a forward? Yes Magic was amazing as a point forward, not discounting him at all, but he was really unique and now you have all kinds of fluid shooting / playmaking forwards, including the new young NBA players. That’s fun to watch.

But yeah there’s a pendulum here that I think has swung too far. We don’t (my opinion) need multiple 150 point games and guys who can get triple doubles with ease because touching them creates fouls all over the place, and give me some Shaq-types who can own the paint without HAVING to be 3-point shooters too. Ease up on the analytics a bit. This is basketball, not chess

Scoring is up in the NBA but for the college game it is down.  I am just talking about the college game because that is where my interest lies and to me shooting is way down.  I have no looked at the stats but just form all the games I have watched this year shooting was terrible.

  14. It is funny that this discussion we are having about the direction of basketball was the same discussion that was on Coyle and Leary the other day.  Pat graham was on there and they started talking about this same subject and Graham said he really hates the direction the game is going.  Even though he is in coaching he said the game is just not as enjoyable to him than it use to be and the main reason was these same things we have been talking about.  He hates that the mid range game is being taken out of the game and the over use of analytics is out of control.

It's so odd to me to have people arguing against bigs increasing their shooting range. The more versatile any player is, the more that helps them and the team. Big men, especially, who can shoot or play down low create real match up problems for the defenders. And if they can also put it on the floor and/or pass well they are all but unstoppable. They can pull rim protectors away from the basket giving the guards and wings the option to drive or shoot. A versatile big puts a lot of stress on the defense. They don't even have to shoot a lot of 3s, just show that they're willing to and very capable of hitting them.

And if they're going to develop range, it makes more sense to extend that range out to 3-point range than just a long 2. It's more efficient plus defenses might be willing to let the big men shoot and possibly hit a few long 2s per game while they would certainly try to defend the 3. Like I said above, if a team can force another team to shoot long 2s, they have a chance to win.

I don't remember anyone saying they should not develop a outside shot but just don't want them to rely on that shot to much.  I just don't like it when coaches try to worry about the players draft status where guys only want to show off their outside shot.

They aren't.  Just my opinion.  I like my big's shooting mid range shots with the ability to use both hands around the rim.  In my opinion, if you have guards and wings who can shoot 38%+ then you won't have anyone clogging up the lane, they have to respect your shooters, which leads to you big guy with more room to move around the rim. Along with wings having the ability to drive the baseline.

One thing I noticed watching Duncomb highlights is that he does use his left hand quit well.  I think this off season that TJD really needs to learn to use his right hand around the basket.  TJD also needs to find a shot from 12-15 feet and make it a big part of his game.

Regardless of the lineup, every player being able to shoot is beneficial. But, say TJD just doesn't or can't develop a shot, then I'm fine playing him predominantly in the post, he's effective there, but then we need a guy like Race to develop a shot. We are not going to have an effective offense with 3 guys on the court, and no bigs, that can shoot.

I guess my main complaint with how the game is played today is the lack of diversity in the game.  I hate that half the game has totally been taken away from the game and to me it is not for the better.  When I played all I was a really good outside shooter but the rest of my game was average at best and in the long run that was my downfall.  I love seeing great outside shooting as much as anyone but I just think the game relies on the 3 to much now.  I just hate seeing way to many bad contested shots at the end of the shot clock we do today.  With all of this free time and watching old games it was great seeing teams waiting to take great shots most of the time.  Did teams take bad shots, yes but it was by choice and not because the shot clock was running down.
