    Watching it on Hulu.

Will be grilling steaks out on the back patio, later today.  And I have it on there on HULU.  As well as two big screens inside the house. Have I ever said that I love ROKU , and HULU ?   LOL

  2. Attention binge watchers.

It's National Streaming Week on Roku.

Shows normally behind paywalls at HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax are being offered for free this week only, with ads.

To get there, click on the left side of the home page, for featured free.  Then scroll down for National Streaming Week.

You can get free week trials with HBO for 7 days each time. Catch up on several great series including Thrones. Good thing about HBO is they only need a new email address each time you sign up. I'm on my 4th week of free (mostly for Thrones) but watched True Detectives and a few others as well. Just have to cancel on 7th day.

Thanks for the tip. Though I doubt I will use this. Hope this is handy for others.  Hardly a  day goes by that I don't discover something new about Cord Cutting.

We’re piling on at this point but it really was that bad. 😂

Can't call it piling on... when it's the truth.

The  only saving grace is that the game ran so long that most people living  in  the  Eastern half of the nation most likely went to bed before this abortion to the game of basketball finished.

  5. 1 minute ago, BADGERVOL said:

Couple air balled layups/floaters, there were attempted put backs as offensive rebounds where I SWEAR they were releasing the ball without even looking at the basket. You had two passes by that center that about went into the 12th row, at the end of one OT out of a Time Out that guard for Denver was dribble AWAY from the three point line with 4 seconds to go, turns and jacks a 32-34ft three partially fading away when he had just been 7 feet close two seconds earlier. What the HECK?!

these are just plays frozen in my mind...at one point I looked at my son and said “do either of these teams want to win the game? There’s not a drop of sensible concentration going on.”

    All I have got is.....YEP !

  6. 2 minutes ago, BADGERVOL said:

Hey I also got a kick out of ESPN this morning (almost never watch that network, but wanted to see the Bucks highlights again), and they led with this “amazing game that was four OT’s and it was an intense battle from a slow start in the first quarter then picked up.” One gal said “if you watched the intensity in the four OT’s and missed the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters it was the same.”

it was at that point I realized how fake all the news even was. The ONLY thing memorable of that game was four OT’s. It was such bad basketball being played by BOTH teams on BOTH ends and that’s part of the reason it went to four OT’s.

    Intensity ? My rear end.

Both teams were equally bad, in execution.  That's the only reason the game went to 4 over times.

YOU are correct. Both teams, as much as I hate to say it (in terms of Denver).... were equally bad.

  7. 5 minutes ago, BADGERVOL said:

It was pure comedy. My 14 year old son and I stayed up for two reasons...to see how long this tragedy would go and to just enjoy keeping track of the number of boneheaded passes, shots and decisions by players and coaches. Lol

The passes in the game by both teams were consistent.... just bad.  I have attended 8th grade bb games in Colorado, which does not compare to Indiana grade school basketball...

where the execution on the court was better than what was displayed by both Denver an Portland on the floor Friday night.  If this is the best of  NBA playoff basketball... heaven help us

  8. 57 minutes ago, BADGERVOL said:

I watched it. Ironically everyone is talking as though it was such an epic game and the only thing epic about it was the 4 OT’s

You are correct. If it was not for the fact that it was a Denver team.... I would have turned the game off much earlier than it ended.  It really was horrible.  And to think these guys get paid millions to put on an exhibition like that.

One other thing.  Jokic recorded the most minutes played in an NBA game by a seven footer... I think it was over 61 minutes.  Did I mention poor coaching also ?  With 7 minutes left in regulation... I told my son the "Joker" was gassed, and Plumlee needed to come in for him... instead "Joker" stayed in all four over times, and only scored two points.

Hey Vol.... you deserve a medal for lasting through that nightmare, on Friday night.... that some called epic.  Epic ?  Only in that is was horrible basketball.

  9. The Denver Nuggets went four overtimes on the road Friday night against Portland. Game ended after midnight,  Denver time, before Portland pulled it out by two. So, I doubt many of you watched the game. And you are better for it.  If it were not the Nuggets, I would have turned the game off long before any of the overtimes. Both teams played crappy.  Lousy passing.  Poor shot selection.  And I don't think either team ever hear of the word..... defense !

  10. For those that liked watching Court TV ( me, me me ! ) it is coming back on May 8th.  And will be available on Roku and other streaming devices.

The New Court TV Will Stream For Free on Roku, Apple TV, & Amazon Fire TV

I was an air traffic controller in the USAF from 1980 until 2000. They had us out in a truck trailer once that had 2 radar scopes because they were installing PIDP (Programmable Indicator Data Processor...the first air traffic automation I ever saw) in the Scott AFB RAPCON.

Anyway, one morning about 8 AM, an F-4 from the Springfield Air National Guard came down to shoot some approaches. He shot two (we were 250 feet away from the runway so when he went missed approach it rattled the trailer) and was being vectored for a 3rd when the phone rang. A general's wife had called base ops and said the F-4 had woke her up and he needed to quit making so much noise.

When I explained to the pilot, he laughed and said, "ok, clearance back to Springfield it is!"

    Great story.  Thanks for sharing.

  12. Droogh. Crazy how one post can evoke memories for members and then another post  evoke yet more memories. Thanks for sharing your great memories.

I went through Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning.  Marched past the Airborne drop towers. Watched the paratroopers  falling out of the sky.

In terms of planes.  Took my basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  Which butts up next to McGuire AFB.  While in training we would march in a sand trail that was next to a wire fence separating Fort Dix from McGuire.  Perpendicular to the fence was a runway. I swear those air jockeys deliberately would run their jets right up to the fence, while we were marching there, just to scare the junk out of us, before turning on their after burners, and head straight up to the sky.  It was scary, and amazing all at the same time.

Here is a great resource for those looking into getting rid of their cable TV/dish but still desire live TV:

    https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/directv-now-vs-youtube-tv-vs-philo-vs-playstation-vue-vs-sling-tv-vs-fubotv-vs-watch-tv-vs-hulu-updated-february-2019/

I've tried most of these and am the biggest fan of Youtube TV (even though the price is going up to $50/month)

Hulu Live TV is one that I haven't tried but sounds like Mile really loves it.

Yes. Great resource.  Luke also has a You Tube channel.

     Cord Cutters News

Yes, I do love Hulu Live TV.  But would not want anyone to change because of me.  Having said that, most of these streaming services have a free trial period, with no penalty for cancelling.  For that matter, should one choose many of the streaming services, and decide to change, there is no contract, and no penalty for opting out.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm planning on getting rid of cable when I move next month. Think I will go with the TCL/Roku 6k at Best Buy instead of waiting for 8k.

There are several manufacturers for RokuTV.  I am pleased to see that you will be choosing a TCL.  According to the research I have done. It is the best.  And even better yet. The least expensive. Yeah, no need to wait for 8K for you.  In my case I've got multiple Roku setups.  I can wait.

Highly recommend getting HuluTV, as well.  As an example. There are 5 local tv stations in Denver.  Hulu supports all but one of them  And that's just local news. A free channel called NewsOn.... allows me to watch tv stations, in any and every state in the nation.

My son just told me that he has the ability to get over 40K channels for his RokuTV.  I did not know that.  And when I told him, we don't have enough time to watch what we have now.... we both just laughed.

Get that RokuTV.  And like Rico, you will love it.

I recently added the roku Ultra for my 4K TV. I did look at the Google and Amazon devices.   I do have the original Chromecast device but it is connected to A/V receiver HDMI port and I only use it now to stream my music library which I loaded into the google cloud from over 200 CD's or to stream spotify.  Does anyone use the Fire Stick or Chromecast Ultra.  Are they better or the same to Roku.

I have DirectV but the video quality for non-sports shows is much better via Roku.   I watch even network TV shows on the Roku via Fox, ABC channels.  Unfortunately can't FFWD thru commercials.  Every now and then the Sports will stream better on Roku ultra but I usually stick to Directv for sports.  MLB package works great though.  I probably need to increase internet speed but service provider at my house will only hit 50 MBPS.

I do have a Chromecast Ultra hooked up to my big screen in the kitchen, along with a Roku (Yeah, I know. But it is great when we have guests over for dinner).  I did the Chromecast Ultra,  so I could have my Google home send it commands.  But I found the Chromecast lacking, in that there is no remote. Instead, you have to use a smart phone as a remote.

DirectTV ended their agreement with the NFL network,  just this week.  NFL network is still available to satalite (SP?) Direct users.  No word if the NFL will return to DirectTV right now.

It's always a good idea, provided what is available and what one can afford to get the most powerful internet service offered.  Fortunately for me, Century Link locked me in , price wise, for life, with their strongest internet.  Price never changes. Only the strength.

Does it automatically load up what I already have from my Roku TV?

Yes. Or vice versa, if you add a channel on a device, it will load up on your RokuTV.  And to install another Roku device is no different that when you set up your RokuTV.

Here's a You Tube video from Roku, for one model.  But the set up is the same for all devices.

How to set up the Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600)

One more recommendation.  I have a Roku Ultra on my big screen in my man cave.  Perhaps the most expensive device.... just under $100 at Walmart. But can be had for less on line.  4KHD.  Voice activated, that I don't use.  Ear bugs. Caution, I have found using the ear bugs drains the batteries faster when used.  Another neat feature is a remote finder. Simply press a button on the Ultra... and the remote makes a sound you can hear.

Let me ask you this...my Roku TV is in the living room....what do I need to do to get Roku on my TV in the bedroom(it does have HDMI inputs)?  Do I need to get a stick for it?  What does that do with my NetFlix?  So many questions with mushroom season upon me!!!!!

In addition to the RokuTV,  Roku offers many streaming devices. I have one plugged into every tv in the house.  And on one small tv, that I carry out to the back patio, weather permitting.  Most devices are relatively inexpensive.  And they even have connectors for older tv's that don't have HDMI inputs.

One neat thing is if you add a channel on one of your Roku devices.... it automatically adds it to the other devices.  Hence, you do not have to go from device to device to add a channel that you want.

The best retailer I have found to buy Roku devices is Walmart.  They seem to inventory the most.  Also, I have bought Roku devices directly from Roku on their website.

It is a whole new world to me and I am loving it.  Taking me some time to learn but I am getting there.  And I owe it all to you telling me about the Roku TV........I can't get my Dad out of my house!!!!!!!!

Truly ala cart tv.  One more recommendation.  It will cost you. But it is not that bad.  I subscribed to HuluTV for my Roku devices, at first just to get the Big Ten Network. This is HuluTV.... not the regular Hulu.  I upgraded for like $10.00/mo. for the unlimited device option.  Can watch on any Roku device in the house, outside on the back patio... and even on a smart phone away from the house.

Hell yeah........I am all over it like a fat lady on cake!!!!!

Rico. Decided to take this discussion off the baseball thread.  I am pleased you were able to load the BTN2go app.  As time goes by, you will find it easier and easier to navigate on your Roku TV.  Keep in mind, that Roku is constantly adding channels.  I think currently there are over 3,000 channels available.
