  1. Moving on..... to the next series. DENVER Nuggets. We've got: Gary Harris..... from Fishers, Indiana. Trey Lyles..... from Indianapolis, Indiana. Mason Plumlee.... from Warsaw, Indiana AND We've got : "The Joker"..... from Serbia !
  2. The story hit the local news here in Denver, tonight, April 22.
  3. Great story. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Droogh. Crazy how one post can evoke memories for members and then another post evoke yet more memories. Thanks for sharing your great memories. I went through Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning. Marched past the Airborne drop towers. Watched the paratroopers falling out of the sky. In terms of planes. Took my basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Which butts up next to McGuire AFB. While in training we would march in a sand trail that was next to a wire fence separating Fort Dix from McGuire. Perpendicular to the fence was a runway. I swear those air jockeys deliberately would run their jets right up to the fence, while we were marching there, just to scare the junk out of us, before turning on their after burners, and head straight up to the sky. It was scary, and amazing all at the same time.
  5. Yes. Great resource. Luke also has a You Tube channel. Cord Cutters News Yes, I do love Hulu Live TV. But would not want anyone to change because of me. Having said that, most of these streaming services have a free trial period, with no penalty for cancelling. For that matter, should one choose many of the streaming services, and decide to change, there is no contract, and no penalty for opting out.
  6. There are several manufacturers for RokuTV. I am pleased to see that you will be choosing a TCL. According to the research I have done. It is the best. And even better yet. The least expensive. Yeah, no need to wait for 8K for you. In my case I've got multiple Roku setups. I can wait. Highly recommend getting HuluTV, as well. As an example. There are 5 local tv stations in Denver. Hulu supports all but one of them And that's just local news. A free channel called NewsOn.... allows me to watch tv stations, in any and every state in the nation. My son just told me that he has the ability to get over 40K channels for his RokuTV. I did not know that. And when I told him, we don't have enough time to watch what we have now.... we both just laughed. Get that RokuTV. And like Rico, you will love it.
  7. I do have a Chromecast Ultra hooked up to my big screen in the kitchen, along with a Roku (Yeah, I know. But it is great when we have guests over for dinner). I did the Chromecast Ultra, so I could have my Google home send it commands. But I found the Chromecast lacking, in that there is no remote. Instead, you have to use a smart phone as a remote. DirectTV ended their agreement with the NFL network, just this week. NFL network is still available to satalite (SP?) Direct users. No word if the NFL will return to DirectTV right now. It's always a good idea, provided what is available and what one can afford to get the most powerful internet service offered. Fortunately for me, Century Link locked me in , price wise, for life, with their strongest internet. Price never changes. Only the strength.
  8. Yes. Or vice versa, if you add a channel on a device, it will load up on your RokuTV. And to install another Roku device is no different that when you set up your RokuTV. Here's a You Tube video from Roku, for one model. But the set up is the same for all devices. How to set up the Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600) One more recommendation. I have a Roku Ultra on my big screen in my man cave. Perhaps the most expensive device.... just under $100 at Walmart. But can be had for less on line. 4KHD. Voice activated, that I don't use. Ear bugs. Caution, I have found using the ear bugs drains the batteries faster when used. Another neat feature is a remote finder. Simply press a button on the Ultra... and the remote makes a sound you can hear. Introducing the Roku Ultra | Model 4661
  9. In addition to the RokuTV, Roku offers many streaming devices. I have one plugged into every tv in the house. And on one small tv, that I carry out to the back patio, weather permitting. Most devices are relatively inexpensive. And they even have connectors for older tv's that don't have HDMI inputs. One neat thing is if you add a channel on one of your Roku devices.... it automatically adds it to the other devices. Hence, you do not have to go from device to device to add a channel that you want. The best retailer I have found to buy Roku devices is Walmart. They seem to inventory the most. Also, I have bought Roku devices directly from Roku on their website. Find the Best Roku Streaming Device or TV for You | Roku
  10. Truly ala cart tv. One more recommendation. It will cost you. But it is not that bad. I subscribed to HuluTV for my Roku devices, at first just to get the Big Ten Network. This is HuluTV.... not the regular Hulu. I upgraded for like $10.00/mo. for the unlimited device option. Can watch on any Roku device in the house, outside on the back patio... and even on a smart phone away from the house. Hulu | Roku Channel Store | Roku
  11. Rico. Decided to take this discussion off the baseball thread. I am pleased you were able to load the BTN2go app. As time goes by, you will find it easier and easier to navigate on your Roku TV. Keep in mind, that Roku is constantly adding channels. I think currently there are over 3,000 channels available.
  12. Another streaming service, that is available right now, that is free, is Xumo. Recommended by Consumer Reports. I added it to my Roku this weekend. An unbelievable amount of content. And another neat thing, is there is no registration. All Channels & Genres | XUMO They even have a Field and Stream channel for Rico. LOL
  13. A new streaming service is set to launch in November. Disney plus. Tons of content for $6.99/month. Disney Plus: Everything We Know About Disney's Streaming Service
  14. Not at lot right now. Kind of like when 4K was state of the art. Not much was produced at first in 4K. Now tons of things are broadcast in 4K. And Roku has an entire channel dedicated to 4K streams. One thing 8K will allow, just as 4K did when it was first introduced, is an even greater picture quality... even if one is not watching an 8K broadcast. It's like when 4K was first introduced... the picture quality was superior to HD, even when things were not produced in 4K.
  15. So long as it is a TCL... they have a reputation of undercutting the market by a lot. Also depends upon the size. TCL Announces New 8K Roku TVs
  16. Yessss ! I am waiting for the 8K. Due out later this year. CES 2019: New Roku TV models are on the way, including the first ever 8K Roku TV
  17. IMHO.... All the Roku devices are excellent, and very affordable. I have several. Including a Roku Ultra, which is the most expensive, at just under $100. The devices simply plug into the tv. Roku even has devices for those that have old, old tv's that don't have HMDI connections. And for those that have their tv's close to their routers, there is an ethernet connection, which is said to be the best. I don't use an ethernet. But I do advise using the highest power wifi connection from your provider. One thing I love, is that when I add a channel on any device... it automatically adds the channel to every device. Needless to say. I love Roku. Roku Tutorial: The Basics of Roku. What is a Roku?
  18. Yeah. I have two smart tv's. One is a 4KHDTV. And frankly, I get a better picture when I go through Roku than the smart app on the tv, outside of a Roku. I also have a Chromecast Ultra hooked up to that tv, along with a Roku. And have to say the Roku outperforms the Chromecast. As long as Roku is doing the great job they currently are doing...I highly doubt I will ever buy another non Roku smart tv. Making sure is is a TCL. Drroogh.... a Roku smart tv is the way I would go... as my son has already done. The TCL Roku is a fabulous TV.... at an unbelieveably affordable cost.
  19. First things first. Understand I am a guy approaching his 73rd birthday. I am far from a computer nerd. What I learned to run HSN in the early days and the "Stuff" we are talking about now.... is purely self taught. But I love learning. I am sure there are younger people who can come to an answer quicker and better than me. With the above caveats, I am not sure I completely understand your question.... about a cell phone powering a Roku. This may help : Roku Mobile App - Free for iOS® or Android™ The Roku's in my house are connected to a t.v. Basically plug into the tv and go. My son has a Roku TV, which he loves, that does not require the Roku device. Everything is built in. Also.... in terms of Hulu. I opted for the unlimited device option. A recent example of how that works...... my son picked up my wife at DIA this past Thursday. While sitting in the cell phone lot waiting for the plane to come in.... he watched a movie through Hulu on his smart phone. I know. I know. It gets confusing. I still have cable. But have cut my services. And love, love, love Roku on which I can view Netflix, Hulu and so much, much more.
  20. I found the representatives of both Hulu and Roku extremely helpful, when I was first wading into this "stuff". They were very patient, and knowledgeable. And unlike the cable companies did not try to bundle services. Just a simple explanation of what is available. I also found You Tube with many instructional videos from the companies, and regular people very helpful as well.
  21. Rico. I know it can be confusing. Until one starts using the services. Drroogh is correct. Hulu and Netflix are separate subscription services. Interestingly enough I pay for Netflix through my Hulu account. DrRoogh is also correct about the fact that most of the subscription services, such as Showtime and HBO offer free trial periods. I got Hulu so I could watch the Big Ten Channel, after Comcast terminated it. It's back on Comcast, but I have not gone back' However aside from the subscription services, there are tons of free streaming channels, which offer free movies, etc. Such as PlutoTV and many others. I love a channel called NewsOn, where I can watch local tv all across the nation. And there is another channel in which I can listen to local radio across the U.S. Actually there are more channels than I have time for. The list seems to be endless. And they keep adding. Currently I have 85 stations set up on Roku. But I read a while back, that there are over 3,000 streaming channels available.

  24. Just finished my slopper. It was very enjoyable. Just to clarify, the green chile is made with pork. That I then pour over an open face cheeseburger. If you do not want to make your own green chili.... there are many sold in grocery stores, that you can use. We used one tonight that my wife made. MMMMMM !
  25. Not really a strange food. But one, I am sure many of you have never heard of. In that regard, it make it strange to you. Since I am making them for dinner tonight. I thought I would introduce you to the Pueblo Slopper. Famous in Pueblo, Colorado.... and hard to find in many other parts of Colorado. Where are the best sloppers in Pueblo? Many different ways to make them. I use a cheeseburger, instead of pork as in this recipe : The Slopper | TODAY.com
