  1. I've said this consistently the last couple of weeks. I think Woodson deserves another year, but I think whether he deserves another year is irrelevant and completely the wrong question. If you're the AD or whoever is making these decisions, the only question that matters is, "do you think Mike Woodson and his staff are the people to turn this around in a big way?" If the answer is "no", then you have to clean house after this season. If the answer is "yes", then as the AD I would need an extremely detailed plan from Woodson clearly outlining how he plans to turn it around. If I like the plan then I guess he would get that year that he deserves. If I don't (ie. very little change, need to get them over the hump, etc.) then you also have to make the change.
  2. Time to start stacking wins! Let's go!!!!
  3. It's bad for the entire conference too. It's holding the Big Ten back from evolving to modern basketball. Programs are building teams to contend with this, not the rest of the country.
  4. There is absolutely no way this can be explained away with anything other than gross incompetence or it was rigged. 46 attempts to 8 attempts is absolutely absurd. I don't care if Purdue had Shaq, MJ, LeBron and Kobe, a 38 attempt discrepancy can't be explained.
  5. A ton of credit to the coaching staff for adjusting. I absolutely love that! Woodson and team deserve a ton of credit for this improvement. I think it's also fair to criticize why it took so long and why the initial scheme was set-up the way it was, especially when we've seen it not work in years prior. But again, love seeing these types of adjustments.
  6. Can we get an update on that graphic?
  7. Gutsy, gutsy win. Despite some of the sloppy play in the 2nd half, that type of toughness is Indiana basketball! So incredibly happy for Anthony Leal, and his answer on BTN was must-see for any kid. A breath of fresh air in the age if transferring the second something gets too hard. Great substations down the stretch by Woodson. While we have to caveat that Iowa isn't a great defensive team, I don't think it's a coincidence that we had one of our best offensive rebounding games with a smaller lineup. It allowed speed and quickness to take over, and with the floor spread Ware was often rebounding 1-on-1 as opposed to with a clogged lane.
  8. Don't know about 15+, but I also have a good feeling about tonight.
  9. I wasn't saying the HC wouldn't be involved in recruiting. He'd still be in charge and have to participate and close. Use Mgbako for example. We've heard the staff say several times that they didn't really know anything about him until his mom reached out. The GM's job, and his staff, would be to already know everything about a player like that, even if we weren't actively recruiting him the first time. The GM's job would be to know that we should make Dalton Knecht a priority over Chris Ledlum. The GM is spending all of their time identifying the talent and fits based on program culture set by the HC, roster construction, and pouring over tape and attending games in-season to identify the right targets. The GM sets the table, the HC and staff still close.
  10. Something I would love to see happen and IU be at the forefront on is creating a more NBA style front office. That doesn't mean I want us recruiting all one and done's or anything like that. But, the college landscape has changed so much with NIL, the transfer portal, etc. It's almost too much for any coach to effectively manage and also coach their team. I'd love to see IU create a General Manager position and then have a Head Coach/President of BBall Ops. So, the GM is a position that is above Recruiting Coordinator and much more experienced in roster construction but still reports into the head coach. The GM oversees a team that is in charge of recruiting and identifying the players (high school and portal) that the program should be going after. This should be a former coach who managed recruiting in the past, is more experienced than the Recruiting Coordinator, but maybe just doesn't want the coaching grind anymore or something like that. So the head coach is still ultimately in charge and has final say, but the GM is running the recruiting function day-to-day and reporting to the coach. The GM is watching in-season tape for transfer targets and attending high school games in-season and making the target list for the head coach. Not saying for IU necessarily, but think someone like a Tom Crean is a role like that.
  11. Yeah, @KoB2011 and @Kdug I was just using the Knecht thing as a made up example/hypothetical. For whatever reason, I don't think IU was ever really in the Knecht recruitment.
  12. I think the answer is that you're both probably right. This is all hypothetical. But... Take Knect and Tennessee as an example. Obviously TN is a big school, like Indiana. But I'd imagine most of TN's NIL money goes to football. So, IU probably has more for basketball. I'd imagine that Tennessee would have a tough time outbidding Indiana for guys like JHS, TJD, Mgbako, Ware, etc. But with a guy like Knect who came from a mid/low major, TN might actually be able to outbid IU. Knect might get top dollar from TN's budget, but maybe be something like 6th on Indiana's roster for NIL. So while Indiana probably has more money, it doesn't mean we have more money for everyone we're recruiting.
  13. Yeah, we just disagree on this. I'll PM you later. I dont think the board wants another dissertation on why this offensive system isn't good, at least not from me.
  14. Again, I think the board is tired of this convo. I just think there are much better ways to utilize our personnel than two bigs on the block, dump it down and everyone stand and watch. I think there are much better ways to utilize the strengths that our guys do have.
  15. Good point. I should rephrase it that it's a long shot at this point. But, you're right the season isn’t over. We could go on a magical run this last month or in the BTT.
  16. I don't want to relitigate the offensive system. I think the board is extremely tired of that debate. I'll just say that we're not a terrible 3-pt shooting team. I believe we came into the game with the same 3pt% as a team as Illinois. I just think our offensive system is conducive to winning. Just my opinion.
  17. The bolded just isn't accurate. I'll just speak for myself, but for example in the OSU MVP thread I said I would have voted Mike Woodson the MVP if I could. I also made two posts in the Post-Game thread profusely praising Woodson for the coaching job he did. After most games where the team has played well, I've praised Woodson. I often share twitter videos from Coach Adranga and others with some of the sets that IU has run in those games where the offense has performed well. I often share sets that have worked really well that have gotten more movement and guard/perimeter involvement, etc. I expected a small step back this season, I did not expect to get essentially boat-raced in every big game, sans Kansas and at Illinois, that the team played. Tough to dole out a ton of credit when it's going to take a myracle to make the tournament.
