Maryland is awful. Jordan Geronimo has zero basketball instincts and can't shoot a lick. Just watched him completely bite on a basic shot fake and end up on top of the shooter. 3 fouls on him already. Not sure why Willard thought he was such a great pickup.

If we didn't already know that 3-point defense was bad, this should end all argument. Pretty clear that Mgbako is a poor defender as well, given that replacing him with Cupps shaves more than ten percentage points off outside shooting. By process of elimination, MgBako, Gunn, Walker and Banks all need a lot of work on defending the arc. I gave the fives a pass since their role should be mostly rim protection and I don't see opposing bigs killing IU from the arc...at least not yet. If these guys don't tighten up a lot and quickly, the rotation is going to get a lot shorter a lot sooner just by necessity.

When it comes to Dakich vs. Woody, I doubt many old-schoolers would be on Dakich's side. I'm sure not. I think Woody deserves a hell of a lot more respect for what he's accomplished. In comparison, Dakich is just a loud mouth.

I'm doing my best to get the little twit to block me. I'd consider it a badge of honor at this point.

It's pretty clear that Woody trusts Gabe Cupps a lot more than MM. Surely sitting on the bench is a real motivator to get better. If I'm wanting to go pro, I'm soaking up all the instruction and working my ass off right now. FWIW, I love Gabe Cupps too, coach. Not perfect and still a freshman, but man, do I hope IU has this young stud for all four years.

He'll probably rot on the bench next to Joey Hart, but every team needs practice players I guess.

Yeah...thought the same when I read that. Neither team really showing out yet. We'll see which coach can came the necessary corrections and develop what they have. I thought Maryland was pretty experienced though...
