I'm fine. I just get tired of people making blanket statements about coaches or players when it appears they have not looked at the record. I've never been a huge fan of Penny, but take a look at how his team performed this past season. Is that the sign of a sh*tty coach? I don't think so.

This is the last time I address you on this or any other subject.  Consider this season:

     https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/memphis/men/2024-schedule.html

I see a weak finish and a soft schedule.  Penny managed to beat Vanderbilt at home by a bucket.  Congratulations.  Peaked at #10 and finished the season unranked with no tournament invite.  This is not a first for Penny despite getting some lottery-caliber commits.  He's gotten 2 tournament invites in six seasons and gone 1-2.  No one ever said he couldn't recruit talent.  On the contrary...he gets plenty of talent and he's had seven NBA players in his six years at Memphis.  Unfortunately, he's not accomplished much with all of that talent.  If I'm a player looking for growth, development and team success, I'm not choosing Penny Hardaway.

...and with that, I'm done.  If you don't like my hot takes, you're free to ignore them.  Since this is a portal thread, I'll leave it at that.

Penny is 133-61 in six years.

His son didn't play very much.  Maybe transfer to a lesser school, get pt and build that body of work.

Would you be happy with that in the AAC?  He gets a lot of talent, but IMO, consistently underperforms that talent pool.

Do you have any idea about their team? Have you even looked at their record, or did you just decide to spout off like a 14 year old trying to impress his friends?

Sometimes it is difficult for family to work together. Hard to separate personal from business, so to speak. Other players might have a hard times speaking freely around the son, if they happen to get t'ed off at the coach. Makes it uncomfortable for everyone.

Penny recruits a lot of talent...never seems to do much with it to be honest.  Yes, I looked at his record and his body of work.  Considering he plays in the AAC and gets a lot of talent, no...I'm not impressed with what he's accomplished.  His approach looks a lot like the old AAU roll the ball out and let em play.  I don't see much coaching or developing.

A kid with 3 years of eligibility left transferring OUT of his dad’s program? 🤔

It’s Memphis, so the answer is “probably”, but is that a sign that fit is about to hit the shan in Memphis?

It's probably just a sign that dad is a sh*tty coach.

I was never among those thinking we had to get Dusty May. But if Michigan gets not only May but lands McNeeley too, that's going to sting a lot of folks:

A coach I didn't necessarily want landing a recruit that didn't want us.  I ain't losing sleep over it.

Me neither.  Unless I'm missing something, Bryson Tucker appears to be just as good a signee.  Need more numbers, but that swap doesn't appear to damage IU's prospects.

    I know that.

Thing I don’t understand is if Dusty is such a home run hire why are all the players abandoning ship? Afraid they’re going to get coach Primed?

you asked this question and I told you the reason, they left before Dusty got there

That's almost irrelevant.  He knew Dusty was hired before he chose K-State.  Now if Dusty chose not to try to retain him that's another story...

  7. This might be the most exhausting thread ever created on HSN.  226 pages of this?  No one can say Hoosier Nation doesn't care.

I'll say this once more...the problem with IU basketball goes way beyond Mike Woodson.  I don't know if Woodson is the answer or not.  I simply don't believe that hiring any particular coach fixes what's wrong with IU basketball...or IU for that matter.

Pretty sad that when you listen to the two of them talk about their program. Painter knows how to build and program while Woodson has to have donors buy players. It truly shows the level of incompetence that surrounds our program. Hopefully after another crappy year he is sent to the woodshed and we finally get someone who knows what they are doing.

Don't remember anyone saying he is the worst coach ever.  A bad coach?  Yes.

I wouldn't go that far either.  This fan base isn't objective enough to make that call and Woodson's record doesn't indicate a bad coach.  The players don't give that feedback either.  Trayce Jackson Davis and Kel'el Ware would likely have a very different take.

Think back to about a month ago when all the message boards were being set on fire with people declaring all the players would be leaving the program. I think that storm has been weathered pretty well.

Absolutely silly how badly fans overreact.  Same thing applies to Woodson being the worst coach ever.  He's a long way from Kenny Payne.

  11. My house is about half a mile from dead center of the totality path so we're hosting a field party complete with snacks, drinks and eclipse music.  Even getting a couple of nice portable toilets with powered sinks delivered next Wednesday.  According to the location website on my phone, we should be in total mode for 4 minutes and 4 seconds.

Best part is, I get to stay home.
