Big Ten officiating is such a joke

Serious every game I watch I see guys set screens releases then the guy with the ball plays peekaboo with his defender behind the screener and the refs allow the screener to keep moving into the guy to try and reset a screen aka a moving screen. Not to mention screeners with the legs wider than their shoulders alot or sticking butts out. Not to also mention setting the screen then rolling into the defender after set screen to block them.

  2. Well that was um uninspiring. I liked though when Woody just packed it in around the 3 minute mark. TJD is absolutely gassed. He looked like he had lead weights in his shoes on his jumps and he wasn't strong with the rebounds. Gallo is gassed as well. It is sad to see our bench can not contribute at all.  I think it is about time to give Gunn Duncomb and Banks some run. Light a fire under Bates and Geronimo. Also give TJD some rest. Seriously so sad. We could have fought our way back in but we just lost out on all the hustle plays and got outrebounded by alot. We couldn't find our way back into the game. Pack it in get some rest and let's go see if we can sweep Purdue.

  3. Seriously though we need to get TJD at least 3 to 5 minutes rest. He is tired. Look at his free throws. I know he's young but he is putting up big minutes. Also I wish that JHS could become more consistent but he played 40 minutes I think at Northwestern so I am not too upset. During the big lights though he did shine again and came up big. Between him and TJD we are riding on their backs alot. I am so glad to see the win but man we need more from our bench. I am just thinking though next year without our two studs what are we going to do?

  4. So I am going to preface this I selfishly want JHS to stay another year. The reason is that another year under the tutelage of Woody could mean he becomes a monster his sophmore year that no one can stop. He will become an absolute threat on all three levels have another year of maturity on his passing and vision which is already exceptional and his defense. His passing will become I think phenominal and those tough or head scratching passes this year will look like a piece of cake next year. Also his defense will become better to knowing what to expect. I also think he will find his killer instinct next year as well and become the closer we have lacked for so many years. You could see glimpses of that this year. He takes over a game and finishes it. I think though if I was him and basically was guaranteed a lower first round like 21st to 32nd I would jump. That means he will have a year or two to study under championship caliber teams while developing his own skills with getting used to the speed of the NBA. This will set him up to have the best possibility to score a huge second contract instead of trying to meander his way through a rebuilding process or dysfunctional programs which may put undue stress on him and cause him to falter.

TJD I think will continue to expand his game with shooting. Playing at the next level I think will help him cause he will have something to prove which really pulls out the best of him.

At least you'd get coached at Rutgers.  I'm still laughing at Memphis.  Dude may as well play for Patrick Ewing...

...but yeah...Rutgers is kind of an armpit too.  At least they have a coach though.

I agree. Steve Pikell is starting to make a name for himself. Memphis is just hilarious. O well. I guess kids go where the money and fame are.

I think their biggest struggle is going to be matching up against a team with really big athletic guards.

Those teams can pressure the ball making entry l passes more difficult.

They can speed up the game and take PU guards off the dribble.

I do believe PU is a top 5 team, but they do have clear vulnerabilities.

But every team does this year.

I agree. It seems every team you look at has major flaws. There doesn't seem to be a clear cut favorite. Also it's the first time in many a year I don't see Duke with a number next to their name. Kentucky I believe and hope has lost their luster finally. UNC is also not doing the hottest. Normally the Big 10 has 4 to 5 ranked and we don't. Just seems there is major parody this year and the title is quite clearly up for grabs to any team that wants it and gets hot in March.

  7. At one point I saw Woody on a stool after he called a timeout and he was more animated than I have ever seen him. I mean this was a masterful job coaching. Loved seeing JHS get ice water in his veins when he went up for the mid range J's. TJD was a man and literally did about anything he could. I mean there's only so much you can do when a guy has a 7" height advantage and most likely a longer wingspan than you not to mention a good 30 to 40 lbs. Malik is starting to come into his own. I just wish he would not get as many fouls but that comes with age. As Woody said we beat them without a full deck. Just a wonderful job. Now on to Rutgers. I really hope our guys get as hyped up for them as they did for Purdue. Rutgers is slowly turning into MSU for me. A team that I absolutely despise. I would love nothing else than for our guys to take them behind the woodshed and absolutely bury them. If they can do it I would love for them to run up the score to the point they send a message that the days of punking us are over!

TJD just asking Gillis where he can get a good steak dinner in New Castle.

I will tell you there is no place that you can get a good steak dinner in New Castle anymore. Montgomerys steakhouse used to be pretty good but the service sucks and then they started to cheapen everything and you could taste the propane on the steak like you went to someone's else's BBQ where they have never grilled out and left the steaks on until they became shoe leather. No char on my steak please I have received my weekly allotment of carbon! Thank you.
