I laughed cause of Xs response of thinking its cute. Easy to say when you aren't playing with Rutgers anymore. Honestly in the Big you hold serve at home and win 5 to 7 games on the road. That is what gets you in Big 10 championship contention. So this is a huge game that will set the tone going forward. I feel IU plays to its strengths and they adapt within their own strengths to what the other team has to offer up as a counterpunch. While our 3 point% isn't the best I think we can still operate efficent enough to keep teams honest. I feel this game is going to get chippy and honestly become very ugly quickly. There is no love lost between these two teams. Also with the type of bully ball both teams play it will become very physical. I love the attitude that X JHS and Galloway are bringing to this team. They don't seem to be too flappable either. Hopefully our team comes out and absolutely throttles them and runs up the score. It'll be good practice for our younger guys down the bench to get some experience playing against a stifling defense if that happens. Honestly I am just excited to see this team gel together and get back to winning ways. Woody has set a winning culture it seems like. I also love the post game interviews. Already on to the next game and one game at a time. That is it. Love it.

I concur with this sentiment. Literally they, Bilas especially, were making excuses on how North Carolina just wasn't clicking cause Bacot was hurt or Nance was a transfer or they are at IU and it's a hostile crowd. Seriously as if they don't face the Dukies or NC State multiple times a year. As if they aren't used to hostile crowds. Also the announcers were acting as if we weren't dealing with injuries. Nope just TJD was out 2 games ago our pre season all American. Galloway was out until this game. A couple guys have bandaged hands. Nope no injuries in the least. Literally every time they scored a basket you could tell the announcers almost got excited. Also they would go on 3 to 5 minute rants at a time about the NC team and Hubert Davis. They would talk about how NC could do this or this to try and loosen up IUs defense etc. Just fawning over NC. Literally it was a buzz kill to a wonderful game. Also the reffing was atrocious. What was the stat line for free throws before they started fouling us to extend the game? Something like 30 fta to 10fta? I have not seen that at any point in time where the home team was that disproportionately called for fouls. I understand with a much more agressive defense approach it would lead to a few more foul calls but not this much. IU had almost all of our front line with 2 and 3 fouls in the first half. This was actually great to see. Honestly this made the game even more of an awesome win cause we overcame adversity with some of our starters as well as most of our front line racking up the fouls. Our strength which is our front line was almost taken away in the first half and yet we overcame. This is a testament to our depth. We played 8 on 5 and yet still won pretty convincingly. The announcers kept saying this game felt much more out of reach than it was. Well no dip cause the refs were keeping NC in the game from the tip off. Ok sorry rant over. Haha.

25 free throw attempts to 8 free throw attempts. That seems pretty lopsided. Even with 8 on 5 we are still gutting it out!

Don't you know North Carolina last year almost only went 6 deep. So they are used to big minutes at least that is what Bilas thinks. Sorry I'll end my rant now on how just lopsided this game is in terms of ref calls and the absolute abhorrent cacophony of the announcers. I honestly would prefer almost listening to Bill Walton. At least then you might here the word IU somewhere in the confused convoluted drivel that he pours out as an announcer. End of rant. Now on to the second half. Time to bury the gas boys and make a statement. Let it be known IU is her to stay and here to play for something! You didn't come to IU to play. You came to IU to win! Bob Knight!

Of course while they talk about how Babcok who got fouled by Trace while walking to the locker room shook his arm once and that is why he isn't playing up to par tonight and that is a major reason why North Carolina is not looking like the team that ended last year.

Serious can they possibly stop for 5 seconds talking about North Carolina and possibly talk about IU for 5 seconds? They are making excuses for why NC is looking so bad but they will come along as the season continues. Seriously we get it they are media darlings can you just please stop making it so obvious. Haha. I mean this game is at IU for Pete sake!

Absolutely agree this defense could be elige and one of the best we have seen in a long time! All the pieces are there. I mean you have athletic freaks of Race and TJD down in the post waiting to swat the balls! You have big strong guards on the outside! Kopp as a 3 I think will have the toughest time matching up with quick guards on the perimeter but still I feel that can be easily remedied with our depth. I think the thing that will hold us back the most is our free throw and 3 point shooting. If we can get those up to respectable levels and have a volume of 3 pointers rather than just 11 in a game I feel we will be able to match up well with just about anyone in the nation.

So admittedly I only watched the highlight clip on YouTube so I didn't get the full scope of everything but it seemed like our perimeter defense got lost on switching or over helped which led to easier buckets on the perimeter or a dump down to the post for an easy 2. This was Morehead State so I am hoping we can clamp down more on our perimeter defense in the upcoming games. I don't want our guys to let them get comfortable from deep at all or do like we did in the past and let an 8th 9th or 10th deep player go off for a season and sometimes a career high in points. Once again this is only what I saw from the highlights video so take what I am saying with a grain of salt. Also for the love of all that is good can we please please please make our free throws. They are called free for a reason. I'm just asking for a reasonable number nothing outrageous like 70% for the team. The good takeaways from this are everyone is willing to make the pass and be selfless. It seems like everyone is more comfortable with the offense and defense. People seem to be finding their roles better besides maybe Xavier. I love how deep this team is. It reminds me of the 80 mens olympic hockey team. When our guys get tired time for a line change. I know a little different but still the comparison holds. Our freshmen are proving to be more poised and mature than their years. Which I will take a wait and see approach for the tougher teams. Tamar Bates Jordon Geronimo both look like they are about to break out into what everyone imagines them to be capable of. I feel like the next couple years are going to be looking bright as well cause if we lose Renau and JHS CJ Gunn and Kaleb Banks look like they could pick up the slack from losing those two. So it seems like Woody is building our team for not just one year ala Crean but trying to piece together layers that will make an impact years 234. I mean honestly I am nitpicking cause this team looks poised for a good if not great run this year! I just hope they have that fight put in them by Woodson that when they get popped in the mouth they pop them right back and don't let up, that killer instinct!

It looked like Banks didn't suit up against St. Francis. In the highlight video on YouTube at the end he was in a hoodie. I wish Leal got more run time along with Duncomb especially these exhibition games. I am super excited to see what we have but I am holding my reservations until we start playing high level competition. I want to see how our players and to a greater extent freshman play under duress pressure and when they get popped in the mouth. Not saying they won't adjust or even shine brighter but at the same time I have seen how things have fallen apart when pushed. I will agree though if things hold true and we can overcome the struggles of the slog called the Big Ten this team has the talent leadership experience and most of all just plain insane depth to push for something special!

That would be cool to kind of shore up our low post a little and give it depth!

Did you guys read an article that Fiory and another 24 prospect may be looking to move up a class if posaible?

Seriously from that interview it seemed like a ho hum visit and it seemed like if we didn't move the needle the needle dropped some.

I will say first where was this during the season? Next looks like someone has been working on his shot. His release still looks a little slow but it is alot better than during the season. I hope he comes back and features his shot making! It will do wonders for his game!
